Has anyone here taken advantage of early voting, if your state has it?

Hubby and I went today and got it over with.
There weren't many people in line however the lady who took our ID's said that they have gotten over 400 people a day since the 20th of October (when early voting started). Not bad for my little NE FL. town.

So, did you vote already or are you waiting for November 4th?

I voted already. Nothing was going to change my mind so...why wait?

Michigan does not have early voting per se, but we are able to vote absentee. So I voted on Tuesday.

The long lines at the three early sites have convinced me to vote early.
If it's like this now, what will it be like on the 4th? I'll probably vote this
weekend.

In Texas our Early Voting Stops Friday 31st.. You had better make sure your State is still doing over this weekend..

We do not have early voting in NJ, I wish we did. Although I must say that I have not had to wait in line on Election Day for more than 10 minutes in the last 20 years so it's not that big of a problem.

I voted Monday. With my arthritis, I can't stand for long periods of time so wanted to have as short a wait as possible. Glad it's done with now! :)

I did check & they will being manning the polling places this weedend.
I believe the last chance for early voting will be Monday and that will be
at a state office downtown only. (hours limited)

We have very few places that are available here for some reason. The ones that are open are really inconvenient for me. I'll go on the 4th. My precinct is down the street from me.

I also have bad arthritis and still babying my knee so I hope I won't have to wait too long. I'm thinking of bringing a chair to sit in.:)

I haven't run into long lines either. I'll probably vote on the way to work on Tuesday. My son and daughter-in-law already voted by absentee ballot since they will be in Cancun on election day.

New York does not offer early voting. My polling place is just up the road from where I live, so voting is easy and convenient.

What a excellent idea.:) A lightweight, portable chair could come in handy.
Even if you wind up leaving it in the car, it might be worth the effort.

I voted today. Since this is my first election, I wanted to vote on the actual election day. But, I have an extremely important test on Thursday and I can't take the chance that I'd be waiting in line for hours while not being able to study. So, I went today. I still had to wait for about an hour, but that's better than I imagine it will be on election day.

CONGRATULATIONS to all of the first time voters!!

I envy you - back when I cast my first ballot, the age was 21. So I had to wait until I was 24 to vote in a Federal Election.

I voted today.. took advantage of Michigan's option for us elderly people over the age of 60 to vote by absentee ballot. I got my ballot in the mail yesterday, then took it downtown today to hand in at the city clerk's office, to make sure they got it in time.

My first election was 1960. I was so stoked.:) and he won.:D

John F. Kennedy, a wealthy Democratic senator from Massachusetts, was elected president in 1960, defeating Vice President Richard Nixon. Though he clearly won the electoral vote, Kennedy's received only 118,000 more votes than Nixon in this close election.

In his inaugural address, Kennedy said, "Let the word go forth . . . that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans-born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage." Kennedy also challenged Americans to think of ways they could serve, saying "Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country." This statement and Kennedy's enthusiasm appealed to many young idealists. But Kennedy also had won the votes of many traditional Democratic voters-members of labor unions, African Americans, and members of other ethnic groups.

I was 20 that year, and so disappointed that I could not vote for JFK. Had to wait for 1964.
