Here we go again!

And yes, of course it's Luna I'm talking about. She peed over the edge of her box this morning, so there was a puddle on the floor. That way, I was able to get a urine sample and I brought it to the vet.

As it turned out, there are struvite crystals again. Also, the leukocytes and proteins in her urine were increased (as usual). This is really frustrating!

She's going to be on Hill's s/d diet from now on to dissolve the crystals, and after that, ascorbic acid will be added to her food to acidify her urine. It's always the same, it seems she'll never be alright!

My poor sweet girl!! I'm sure all this is causing her so much discomfort!

Ouch! Well, we'll just stay positive that the new cat food will work permanently and she'll have no more problems, Kirsten. Luna, feel better soon!

Can you get her to drink more? A little meat broth in her water, maybe?

Kirsten,
I want to second the more water response. I add water to Hills C/C wet food, to make it almost soupy. I do this twice a day to up the fluid intake for Dakky (who has the PU surgery last December) and for Minnie, since she is nearly immobile so much of the time, and doesn't take in fluids 'normally'.

I don't know that I would add broth- unless you know it won't tax the kidneys/increase stones.....just my .02.

Poor Luna. Give her a head scratching for me ok?

I don't know if it's available where you are, but Cami is on a urine acidifyer called MethioForm Chews. I just crush one up in her canned food each morning. They crush easily and Cami eats it right up.

Poor Luna, that doesnt sound comfortable at all. Hopefully the food and ascorbic acid will do the trick. Then she can feel all better!:love::love:
