I need one hell of a large beer, a nice dark lager or something to just melt away the week so far! A warm soft pretzel with mustard would be good too.

Ah, Oktoberfest! Reminds me of 1982 when the World's Fair was in Knoxville. I was just 14-15 years old during that year but I had so much fun at the Stroh's House. They had German food, Stroh's beer and an Oompah Band for dancing (often on the tables). It was Oktoberfest every day there. My Mom got us all season passes to the fair and she and I went many times. She even took me out of school every Wednesday in the fall to go until it closed at the end of Oct. Every time we went I visited the Stroh House.
I don't drink beer but I'll take a big salty pretzel.

Oh goody! One of everything for me please - so long as the beer is genuine Oktoberfest, obviously. I'm with LH in his opinion of beers.
A bit chilly here this morning for lederhosen, but I'm impressed the oompah band are still going at this time in the morning. Such stamina.
Happy belated birthday Redd!

Nice big pretzel, chai, and I'll bring enough warm apple crisp to share, okay? I know, it should be strudel, keeping with the theme, but apple crisp it is!

Well, I don't like beer but I do love hot chocolate. Some Ghirardelli chocolate hazelnut, please. And for the pretzel, it's gotta be the pretzels that the Amish make here in OH that are fresh out of the oven. It's like eating a small loaf of warm bread. Yum! I think I just gained 5 lbs.

You guys are making me wish I was sitting in the American Pub in Mannheim.
NOT FAIR!
As a side note, why is it that the yeild for a cookie recipe never comes out as advertised?

Because, being Petersons, we never follow the recipe exactly, and make bigger cookies than we're supposed to anyway!

Oh, Let me wake up the oom pah band and get some Riesling and der brauten out of the kitchen!
LH,
I was thinking about pancakes for tomorrow morning and thought about the recipe that has haunted me for a while.
On the back of the Aunt Jemima pancakes the basic recipe calls for 12 servings?
I don't even bother, I get four 'me sized' pancakes 3 for now and 1 for lunch with a jam filling!

Yummmm.... my mom makes sweet and sour red cabbage with fried bacon. I think it's a PA Dutch thing.
She makes really good home made sauerkraut with apples (not so bitter). I miss that!
Warm potato salad, not so much, lol. I could go for some Red Skin Potato Salad. YUM!
Have to ask.. what is a Brotchen???
Richard, could I get some more soft pretzels and beer? And make that mustard spicy!

Brotchen=German hard rolls.
German bakeries are one thing I really miss. We used to go down to the farmer's market on Saturday morning and buy food for the weekend. Rolls, fresh cold cuts, cheese, and we were good for a few days.

Anyone have a shoulder to cry on too?

Sure - we say around our family that we were all born with terrycloth shoulders - good and absorbent to cry on.
Have some mulled cider, spiked with your drink of choice.
