I have spoken to a lady who rescues larger Parrots. She mentioned a few species that can get a long with Bobbie my male Cocktiel.
She told me how to introduce a new bird to Bobbie so there is a better chance they'll bond & I'll have no issues.
The one species of bird she didn't mention (I think its becuase she doesn't deal with them) are Budgies.
Does anyone have the 2 species as friends?
Do they live in the same cage?
I have contacts with a Budgie Rescue & she has rooms filled with them, so I know I can get the colour I want. As I want one that looks similar to Bobbie as he loves to look at himself in that mirror. So I figure he'll bond to one that looks fairly close to his own colours (white & yellow). But I'll prob just bring him to the Rescue House & see if he can pick out his own friend.
I hope this works out, as he is calming down a lot now. I started letting him out of his cage again last weekend, & he screamed for a few mins then stopped. He flew around, pecked the windows & sang a little.. which is a huge difference! Still cannot touch him, but sometimes I can touch his cage & sing to him at the same time.
He also is noisey all day if I forget to turn the music on before I leave for work.. Picky little bugger hehehe
But all in all, I think hes doing alright :D
If anyone has personal tips on how to introduce 2 birds to the other... I'd appreciate it :) The more options I have, the better chance I have at them bonding :)
EDIT:
Its not recent, but here is Bobbie in his small cage.
