Hi everbody
I am worried about our babies. We have five kitties, four of them are eating Nutro weight management and the fifth one just started eating RC due to crystal in urine issues. I noticed Heidi is hesitant about eating her morsels, does not finish them up which is very much not like her. Tubi just threw up this morning his breakfast which is also very unusual for him. We opened a bag of Nutro this past weekend, and I really think there is something in this food they don't like. They also get Nutro wet food with their meds, which they still eat with no problems. So my questions are 1) has any of you had recent problems with dry Nutro and 2) what do you recommend i switch to?- it has to be a weight management formula.
I will make chicken for them today until we figure out what to do next. I have a call in to our vet also.
thank you

I had fed Nutro Weight Management until about May or June I think. Mine had done fine on it for a long time, a few years at least. Then they started throwing up a lot. I noticed on the bag it said "New and Improved Flavor". Hmpf. I'm guessing it wasn't all that improved or better tasting.
I switched to Innova EVO, but it is not a weight management food. I just weighed my guys, because the girl at the store where I buy it said the cats should lose weight as it's more protein based, and they won't have to eat as much.
Someone needs to tell this to Zachariah and Calloway. They both gained 1 1/2 lbs, and they are the ones who need the weight loss. Of course my thinner cats didn't gain weight, and I think one actually lost some (which she doesn't need to do), so who knows what I'll have to try next.

Thank you Jenn_Librarian. We also have been feeding our babies Nutro with no problems for a few years until now- we liked their discount program too. I heard today that they have reformulated their dry food, and the bag that we opened this past Sunday must have been from the new reformulated lot. I wonder if you had access to the newer formula sooner than in us, depending on how they delivered in the stores. Heidi who LOVES her food, has been picking on the morsels, and even threw up a couple of times and we thought that she may started to have a sensitive stomach because she is older. But when Tubi threw up this morning, I realized it is the food...I will look into the Innova EVO- how much do you give them per day? Heidi is very arthritic so we have to be very careful with her weight...
Silly boys Zachariah and Calloway, they must like it a lot :D

There was someone who posted here a few months ago about their cat getting sick on Nutro and when I googled it I found several sights with people reporting their pets getting sick from the new Nutro. I had just switched my guys over to Pro Plan from Nutro Weight Management so I felt lucky.
Sounds like Nutro is still having problems. Glad we are off it.
Here is a link to a post I made about Nutro before.

I hate when companies change their formulas or ingredients!:mad: Why do we need 'new and improved' when we could just have 'old and reliable'??
I had the same thing happen with Iams quite some time ago. About that same time we started getting clients in who thought their pets were sick, and turns out that most of the 'sick' pets were eating Iams during that formula change, food change solved the problem. *sigh*
