An earlier thread inspired me to write this. Does your cat have a favorite color? Star tends to favor the color red. Ever since she was a kitten she's always chosen red colored items. Red colored toys, red colored blankets, red colored every thing. My mom's cat loved the see through tan curtain. That was his blankey. lol, then we had a cat who loved the color pink.

I think my Gracie loves the color yellow. Her favorite room is our upstairs hallway and it's painted a nice warm yellow. I think that because she has such limited sight, that yellow is nice and bright and helps her to see a little better.

That is a sweet way of thinking and I hope you're right. :)

I haven't noticed Fister having a particular color preference. He will go for certain smells though. ;)

HI-I HAVE HEARD THAT CATS SEE SLIGHT COLOR- I BELIEVE HOWEVER, THAT THEY SEE DIFFERENT SHADES WHICH APPEAR TO THEM TO HAVE OVERALL GRAY TINTS. IT MAKES SENSE TO ME THAT A WARM COLOR OF A ROOM OR SLEEPING AREA WITH A FAVORITE BLANKET OR TOY WOULD APPEAL TO A CAT. I THINK THE EYE OF A CAT HAS "CONES" THAT PROCESS THE COLOR DIFFERENTLY FOR CATS AND DOGS. MY CATS' TOYS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ALL COLORS BUT CATS OF COURSE HAVE DIFFERENT TASTES AS YOU KNOW. My KiKi that died a few years ago at 18 years old..LOVED the color Red.
He at 2 years old always went over and stared at anything red...just loved that color. That was about 20 years ago...when I myself knew that cats could see color (watching my KiKi) while all the smartest articles in the world were saying cats could not see color.
Just goes to show you how much they knew about kitty cats back then.
Even now they still say in some articles cats cannot see color.
We all know better;):p

Yep, I believe they can see colors. Cats are so much more smart than we think.

I absolutely believe they distinguish colors. Our boys love to play with red and pink toys.

Google feline color vision
Plenty of hits, such as this one:

http://www.cathealth.com/CatEyes.htm

Cones and Color Vision

The end result is that cats have poor detail vision compared to humans. And because cones are also responsible for color vision, cats have comparatively poor color vision. But they’re not colorblind. Instead, they have the same type of color vision as many people who are called colorblind: a type of red-green colorblindness termed deuteranopia. They can see blue versus other color fine, but tend to confuse colors on the red through brown through green continuum.

I have long read that cats do not see red. Nevertheless, several of my cats have also have favorite RED toys, blankies etc. Other cats are partial to the black ones. Haven't noticed any other color preferences.

Hi-yes That Rings A Bell About The Red-green Info! I Think I Saw It On Animal Planet Or The Discovery Channel-or Even On The Pbs Show Nature When It Was All About Cats Once. I Know Cats Are Smarter Than We Are In So Many Ways. So Much To Learn From Them About Unconditional Love And Acceptance. :)susanswatlin518

My cats don't have a favorite color, but the neighbor's Tuxie LOVES orange mousies.
From a rainbow assortment of mousies, he will only select the orange ones.

Now I have to save all the orangies from my giant cheese wedge of mousies.

Now on ICHC (cheezburger) it is said: Carefuls!!! Teh orinje ones iz poizin!
