View Full Version : It Was Hard To Sleep Last Night

An investigation into neglect & abuse at our local Animal care & Control
was conducted recently & the results announced on the news last night.
The Director ended up resigning & new rules put into place to make this
city shelter a much more humane place for homeless animals. When I watched
the news last night & heard about the cat with a broken leg who was left to
lay untreated for days & a poor dog, so frightened that he had to be dragged,
urinating & defecating, down a hallway to the "death" room, I just broke down
in tears. To think that this happened at all is sad, but to have gone on right
here where I live, was heartbreaking.:(:(

How awful, but at least they found it out, and things will change for the better.

Just reading your post left me in shock....
Prayers to those animals that passed to the bridge from that place.
They are all at peace now... and will never know harm like that again. :(

Actually, I was shocked too. Years ago it was a place with a terrible
reputation, but was cleaned up & had more people visit for adoptions.
Shows how quickly a place can change without the right Director to set
the tone & make & enforce humane rules to run the shelter.:( The meeting
took place around the same time as the early news was on TV, so the final
conclusions were not made public until the 11pm news reports.:(
Rest in peace little ones & I hope you can forgive the humans who were
charged with your care & let you down.:(

:( I couldn't even read the article. What you said was sad enough. :(
But at least things will change. Hopefully they will get a good director in place.

good thing is things are now looking to get better, so sad it had to take some precious lives for people to react...

I'm hoping ,to one day soon, to give a report of better news from here.
Most people don't know what is really happening in their local city shelters,
until some good people inside the system decide to speak up when things
are going downhill. Our city is lucky in that, many ,many regular people do
care for animals & want them treated with kindness. They are most willing
to speak out & work to better the shelter.:)
