I was in a Walmart store a few weeks ago and saw that they had an inexpensive brand of flea collars for cats. I bought 3 for my cat babies who go outdoors - Maggie, Farmboy and Stripe. Maggie has wore hers for abt. 2 weeks with no problems, but Stripe must be allergic or something. He had it on for a week and I noticed Sunday that the fur was gone around his neck where the collar was, plus he has sores from the collar. I took it off and threw it away. Farmboy lost his collar right away, but he didn't seem to have any reaction to it. I don't know if I should post the brand name here, but will say they were about $3.00 cheaper than the name brands - I won't buy them again.

Flea collars are useless, according to my vet.

:)Yes they are.. They are a wast of money.. I get the stuff for the back of their necks to use..

Hope the sores heal up quickly, and the fur grows back in nice and lush.
My vet also says the collars are useless.

Useless, and toxic to boot. Advantage, etc. can be expensive, but it's worth it.

Absolutely useless and toxic. Not to mention they have no break away so if a kitty gets caught on something, they could strangle. Especially an outdoor kitty. Please don't use them. I made my store take them off the shelves. Advantage is the only solution.

I WAS STUNNED WHEN MY VET SAID THAT EVEN OVA COLLARS WERE NOT ALL THAT GOOD, AND WERE CERTAINLY NOT WORTH THE 20 DOLLARS THAT I WAS PAYING FOR THEM.

When I was in my early 20's, I bought a flea collar for my cat. (Wow, back in the dark ages!) and the same thing happened to Frisky. They're worthless plus they're toxic, too.
