This is so hard to post.:(
My sweet Samantha went to the Rainbow Bridge today.
She was with me for 20 wonderful years and she was the best cat ever!
Samantha was so healthy over the years but in just the last couple of weeks her health and quality of life went downhill fast.:(
It was the hardest decision I have ever had to make to decide it was time for her to be pain free and we had the vet come out to our house rather than take her to the vet's office one last time.:(
I miss her so much! It was so hard to say goodbye to her.:(
I just can't stop crying now, I will have to post some photos of her later when I feel up to it.
I  you and miss you sweet Samantha!:(

Oh NO! Not sweet Samantha! Just recently you had pics of her enjoying the sun...

I am glad that the vet could come to your place, and save her (and you) the extra stress. I hope her passing was peaceful...and she was with you, your heart so full of love for her (she knew that) and breaking at the same time.

Play happy and young at the Bridge, Samantha. Beautiful beautiful girl, you will be remembered ALWAYS.

Her 20th Birthday Thread on June 26 - many lovely Samantha pics.

I'm in shock and so sorry to hear this.:( She always looked so healthy in her pictures that I some how thought she would live on and on for many more years to come. At least you had 20 wonderful years with her so you'll have many great memories and pictures of her. Now she's with her beau Tubby and his sister Peanut playing happily at Rainbow Bridge. Samantha was a big part of PT and she'll always be missed but never forgotten. RIP sweet girl.:( Please take care. (((HUGS)))

Oh my, LES. :( That must have been very difficult for you to make that decision, but you know that she is now pain free and having a blast at the bridge.
Gosh, I am just so sorry. 20 wonderful years you spent together. 20 years of memories that you will cherish forever.

RIP Beautiful Samantha

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this. How grateful you must be, though, for 20 wonderful years w/Samantha. You gave her a gift of helping her to the Bridge and your vet was so kind to come to your home. Peace to you and your aching heart. RIP, sweet Samantha.

Oh, sweet Samantha, rest in peace. I am sure there's a nice warm patch of sun up there at the Rainbow Bridge, curl up and have a good, long nap. Send some purrs into your momma's dreams, okay? The whole family, and all of us will miss you. But we know you are not getting to meet your sweetheart, Tubby.

Sweet cow-spotted kitty cat
Vermont's own holstein feline
So many hearts have your pawprints on them
So many stories and pictures we've shared
Sweet Samantha, cow-patched holstein feline
We'll miss you, and your soft fur, and low rumbly purr

Know you'll live on in your family's hearts forever.

Oh no!! My heart sank when I saw her name in the memorial forum... :( Not Samantha!! :( :( :(

I know that 20 years is a very long time for a cat, and yet it's so hard to believe, just as if she has just been here forever.

I'm very very sorry! Sweet Samantha and her heart-shaped spot on her little nose will be terribly missed - here at Pet Talk, and even more in her loving home. I wish I had some words to comfort you. (((HUGS)))

R.I.P. little Samantha.
You had the most loving home here on Earth, that's why you decided to stay as long as possible, but now you're young and healthy at the Bridge.

May she play happily at Rainbow Bridge, with healthy joints and a shiny fur.

Darling Samantha, you were just as popular as a kitty can possibly be. You lit up our PT world over many years and it is terribly hard to say goodbye to you. The downside of getting to know and love lots more kitties is that it is more painful when the time comes when they have to leave, but I'm sure we are all happier for having known lovely Samantha. You and your moo-cow pattern are a big loss to PT.

Rest in peace beautiful Samantha, young and healthy again.

I had the same reaction as so many others here. The sinking heart, the reflex "OH NO!", the tears.

Zoe,

Twenty years is a great testament to the loving home and family that Samantha had. Through the many years that you guys shared, I feel blessed to have heard and viewed portions of her wonderful companionship. She may have been a little bitty kitty but her presence was giant.

Rest sweetly dear Samantha. Know that you were and are loved by not only your family but by millions of others, too.

Zoe, my heart sank when I saw Samantha's name. :( Pet Talk has lost 2 of their sweet "Grande Dames" this month. :(

I am so very sorry. Twenty years of love and purrs from such a wonderful girl as Samantha. I know how hard of a decision it is to make for them having had to make that decision for Tucker just the beginning of this month. Know that Miss Tucker was there waiting in the greenest pasture for Miss Samantha. They are now best friends and will be waiting paw in paw for us to be with them once again.

{{{{HUGS}}}} and again I am so very sorry. --- Meg

That Has To Be So Difficult, After Samantha Has Been Such A Big Part Of Your Life For So Long.
But The Pet Angel Army Needed A Warm Wise Momma Cat To Help With The Eternal Baby Angels, And Samamtha Was Called To Fulfill Her Destiny To Help Love All The Tiny Ones And Comfort Them.
She Will Drop By With Her Little Charges , And Show Them When She Lived And Was So Loved For So Many Years.
And Shes Looking For That Place In The Sun Where You Can Meet Again In Love.
One Fine Day.

A true matriarch of Pet Talk.
Sweet Samantha, you graced these pages with style and beauty. This is truly a huge loss not only for your Meowmie, but also for those of us living in far away places. We admired your pictures, we ooooo'd and awwww'd whenever your beautiful face showed up and we are the unfortunate ones because we never met you in purrrson.

Your youth is restored and you are now bouncing around with Tubby, Peanut, Bootz Da Kat and even my RB Speckles was there along with all the other PT angels to greet you.

RIP beauty queen.

I am so so sorry to hear about Samantha's passing over to the bridge. I know how you feel, I know the pain, and the ice cold numbness you are feeling, there are many here who understand. It is now 5 months since my Jack went to the bridge, I know oh I really know.
I am sending my best thoughts and wishes to you at this time. Samantha was an inspiration on PT and I always loved her pictures. My deepest sympathies to you and your family whilst you're going through this terrible time.

You have no need to apologize for being teary eyed! Heck, I'd be a bawing, wailing mess. But it IS theraputic. It is the begining of the healing. Remember, the greater the love, the greater the grief. But the memories will last forever and they will never leave you.

Beyond The Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

I'm Still Here

Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

there are more here when you feel up to reading them. again I am so very sorry for your loss of Samantha. :(

No. Please no. Not our sweet Samantha too. :( :(

I could tell by her last pictures she was getting on in years - I recognized the "old" look that Tubby got in his last year - but I really thought she had many more years in her......

RIP sweetie. You are now with Tubby, and I can see you both lounging in your favorite spot - a bright dash of warm sunshine. May that bright light remain to ease your meowmy's pain.

Zoe, I now know why we've been seeing so many butterflies in the last few days. Terry started calling them Tubby since they are a different kind of butterfly than Peanut, and I now know they are Tubby, Samantha, Tucker and all the other recent arrivals at RB, coming to let me know I should check in here to learn this sad news. Next time you see a Monarch, think of Samantha and know that she is free of the constraints of this world, and she is waiting happily for you at RB. {{{{hugs}}}

I still cry when I read these comments about her, I really miss her a lot.

Debbie, that is interesting about the butterflies, on Sunday morning when I was driving my daughter to her horseback riding lesson she said "Look mom, there's a Monarch butterfly!" It flew right by our windshield and I think it may have been Samantha letting us know that she had done her job in helping us find the two new cats the night before and that she was moving on now and that we were going to be ok without her.

Kim, I will PM you.

She would pace around a lot and get disoriented at times.

Thank you for posting these pics. All of them show what a great old age Samantha had. I wish the same for me.

I would be particularly happy to lounge in all my favourite spots while someone remodels my house round about me. :D

Thank you for these beautiful bonus photos of Samantha. What a wonderful life she had.

I am sorry that I am just seeing this now.

How my heart broke when I saw your thread. I'm so, so sorry on the loss of your precious Samantha. You were so lucky to have her for 20 wonderful long years. If only we all could be so lucky to have our pets for so long.
I always enjoyed seeing her beautiful pictures.

Rest well dear girl and have fun up on the RB.

Thanks everyone.

I had time to go through some more of her photos from this summer.

She loved sniffing the fresh air by the back door.

She spent a lot of time on her favorite rug in the bathroom this summer.

Checking out the new door.

I smell fresh grass out there.

One of her better days.

Her cute panda markings.

Because she was deaf and blind this past year, she would walk along the walls when she went from room to room.

That's all the photos for now, I will post some more another day when I have a chance to go through them all.
I still miss her a lot.

I am so very sorry reading now about Samantha. What lovely photos of such a beautiful old girl still enjoying the comforts of her beloved home.

I'm sure Samantha was showing you that double rainbow herself to say "Here I am, Meowmie!"

Thank you for the nice comments.
It's been two months now since she's gone to the Rainbow Bridge.
I still miss her a lot.
I found another nice Rainbow photo that I took this summer just a couple of weeks before she left me.

I still have a few more photos of her from her last week that I will have to post later.
It still hurts a lot to look at them.

Bless you, and keep thinking of the many wonderful memories you have of yoru spotted kitty!

I can't believe it has been a year already since my sweet Samantha went to the Rainbow Bridge.:(
I still miss her a lot and think about her almost every day.
Here are a few of my favorite photos of her from her younger days.

She was about 4 in this photo when my toddler son shared his blocks with her.

This photo was the one used for her Cat of the Day photo.

Samatha looked a lot like my cat Alison. Sending out my prayers during this difficult time.

I lost Tigger a month and a half ago. It still hurts. And it will probably hurt forever.
