:( My Buttons is Ill.. See when I adopted her in 2003 she had a Glaucomic Eye.. Well my Vet & I have watched it close thru the years of her growth.. The eye was not causing pain so my vet said lets not do nothing & just watch it.. Well This morning about 1:00 am when Buttons was not in bed with me I went to find her.. She was in hiding & the Glaucomic had ruptured internal.. She was in lots of pain.. I called my Vet at home & she met at the clinic.. My Vet is having a Eye Specialist come over today && study the damages.. They will be taking the eye out this afternoon.. I am in just tears now.. I know its for the best.. They say its painfull after the surgery.. I told my vet to give Buttons all the pain meds that is needed.. I will be checking on her at lunch & later on.. So can I ask for Prayers for my wittle Buttons..

 Yes thats our Buttons cuddling with Scrapster Spanks.. Thank Candace for finding that.. I am still in such shock that the Glaucomic ruptured.. Buttons was ok at supper time.. So it had to have happened sometime between 10:00pm & 1:00 am.. Bless her wittle heart.. She & I both cried all the way to the Vets.. Cassiemom just emailed me on asking my vet for a pain patch for the roof of Buttons mouth.. At Lunch I am going to take Buttons her favorite stuffed toy Happy Hippo.. He is big & soft.. I already took her favorite bed to her.. Lets keep our Paws Crossed.. Many Thanks for the Many Prayers & Huggss.. I will keep all updated & posted..

I know that this isn't the same, but I had to take Chrissy to the vet a couple of months ago and have one of her eye's removed (birth defect). What was interesting was that when I picked her up at the vet it was like she had discovered a new lease on life. She is even more active after having the eye removed than when she had it. I think it was causing her pain because it was continually infected.

 I am so glad to hear that your baby is doing great.. My stomack is just in knots till I hear that the surgery is over & all is good & well.. You know I am hoping Buttons wont be so grumpy.. She has always been sort of on the grumpy side & maybe it has been due to the bad eye.. But I knew something was wrong when she wasnt in bed with me.. She is always curled up so close to me everynight.. Also she has never been away from the house except to the vets & back on checkups & shots.. I will check again this evening after work on her.. Again Many Many Thanks for the Prayers & Huggss..

Oh gosh! Poor sweet Buttons! I hope that the vet will be able to fix her up and then give her enough pain meds that she will recuperate and feel much better. Poor little girl, but I'm so glad that you noticed right away and got her to the vet! It's when they have those habits they that never break, and when they do, we know something is wrong.
Big hugs for you and for Buttons, and hope her favorite stuffy makes her feel more comfy.

 Yes Good Morning to All & Again Many Thanks for the Positive Vibes & Prayers.. Yes Candace we {my vet & I} had been watching this red spot that started showing up right in the middle of the glaucomic eyeball for this past year.. However again my vet said if Buttons showed no signs of discomfort & acted normal then we would not do nothing & just watch her moods.. And also the eyeball was getting larger to where the eye lid could not close.. Again Buttons showed no discomfort & acted normal.. Until when it ruptured.. Now when I say rupture = I mean the tissue around the eyeball ruptured & not the eyeball.. But this made the eyeball of course shrink.. But no more worries now due to the vet has removed the whole eyeball & cleaned her socket out good.. I spent time with Buttons at the vet last night.. She just looked so Adorable & I think she already feels better.. They are giving her a type of morphine every two-three hours.. I will let the vet get opened & call in to check on her today.. Yes she got plenty of Whisker Kisses & Belly Rubbss last night.. She just didnt understand why meowmom was not taking her home.. I tried to tell her she has to stay a couple of days to start healing.. I will check today to see when I can take her home.. I am guessing this weekend.. I will update.. Huggss to All

HUGS. I am glad they got the cancer - your vet seems to be right on top of everything!
This is the same vet, I guess, who worked miracles with Skid and Bump. You have a great vet there.
So Buttons could enjoy belly rubs and loves! That's a really good sign. Hopefully they send her home with a pain patch or two.
Hope Mom sleeps better soon with her widdle one snuggled up to her!:)

 Many Thanks you all.. Yes I have already called today & Buttons is doing great.. I will try to take my camera this evening to get some pics of her.. Yes Candace this is the same Vet Lady that did wonders on Skid & Bump.. Dr. JT is very special.. I have known her since she was 15 yrs old.. Now she is in her 30sh yrs.. She used to work with another good vet friend of mine as a helper & then as a vet tech & then it was Dr. school & now her own clinic.. Trust me I have rewarded her with all kinds of gifts for the clinic.. Like right now my friend Carole if making 40 ea diff sizes dog & cat beds for Dr. TJ = clinic for babies that have to stay there.. Yes I am paying Carole to do this.. Oh yes Buttons last night just Purred Purred & made Bisquets.. She is just the sweetest.. Thats how she got the name Buttons.. She was just as Cute as a Button..

I'm sorry that I didn't see this thread until now but I'm sending my best wishes to you and beautiful Buttons. I'm guessing that she must feel a whole bunch better with the pressure relieved that she must have been experiencing before the rupture. She looks great in the pics and hearing that she is taking her bandages off sounds like she is feeling pretty good! :)
You are taking wonderful care of her. Her soft hippo stuffie sounds very sweet! I'm sure she appreciated having that with her at the hospital.

So what you think of her already being home for the weekend with all the other babies?? Do you think her 3 day healing will be enough for her to start being around other babies??
They actually released Chrissy the same day as her surgery. I was told to keep an e-collar on her and try to keep her as quiet as possible  (yeah right, she was 6 months old at the time). Well the collar lastest about a 1/2 hour and from the way she bounced around you would never have known that she had surgery. I did have some pain meds for her, but she just seemed so happy to be feeling better that she just got right back into the swing of things with the rest of the furry ones.
Buttons will do perfectly fine when she gets home. The other cats may sniff her but I suspect they will leave her alone for awhile (at least that is what mine did).
