Dakota, you took my breath away. What a beautiful and personable dog has greeted me here this morning. Although I am partial to *mejiums* and the smaller puppers, you have given me reason to reconsider. Yes, your person is one of the luckiest people alive to have found you that fateful day at a shelter. (If I didn't know better I would say she was someone we knew :D )How anybody under any circumstances could ever have given you up is unfathomable. In any case, you have not only prevailed but have gone on to thrive and be appreciated for the wonderful dog that you are, and now this....DOG OF THE DAY. I don't know if anybody else believes at love at first sight, but all I know is today I do...I love you Dakota!!!!

Dakota is what is known as a Goldendoodle! I love actually seeing one for the first time! I had seen pictures, but now we have a story and a name to go with it, and what a perfect combination!! :D Dakota, I think you are perfect and a wonderful choice for Dog of the Day! Awww, you are so handesome, Dakota!! The funny thing was that this morning I had a patient that was part Poodle and part Golden Retreiver, and his name was Dakota too!! And now we actually have the privilege of meeting and greeting one up close and personal!:) You are truly a beautiful girl with all of the wonderful attributes of two fabulous breeds! I own Dakota's twin brother. Gunnar is a wonderful Goldendoodle that we got 2yrs ago as a puppy here is his picture

Gunnar is adorable!!!!! :) :) I checked out the Goldendoodle site and they are all gorgeous furbabies!!!!

I have a 1 year old Golden, and I was trying to imagine how she looks like with a thick curl ;) ;) ;) ... Guess she would look beatiful with any hairstyle :D :D :D

Thanks for the reply. Gunnar has gone thru several hairstyles but the easiest one to handle is the one he shares with Dakota.
In late winter he looks like a big bear. A golden is what we were looking for when we found Gunnar, they are great family dogs.:) :)

I am a GOLDEN fanatic too :) I think the combination Golden + Poodle is amazing! In terms of intelligence , Poodle is ranked as #2 , while Golden # 4. ANd both of them are excellent breeds! ThoughI guess, we all dog lovers must admit that whatever breed of dog we have, they will be the best for us!!! :)

Wish you could post more pictures of Gunnar! Post it under GENERAL topic so everybody could see it! I love to see more pictures of him! How's his temperament? Did he get the temperament of Golden or poodle?

My family calls me the rookie. I'm fairly new with my computer. I have a couple more I could post but it takes some time for me to figure the best way to do it. I also haven't gotten a scanner yet so some of my best pictures of Gunnar are not on picture cd. Anyway he is a gentle giant. Always needs to be with his family. The picture I did post is of him rafting in the pool with us. He is so gentle and happy I swear I can see him smile. He is by far the best dog I have ever owned.

He was a 5th bday gift to my son, and I wasnt a big poodle fan but I've learned what a joy that breed is. thanks for the feedback I'm glad other people are enjoying him

I am extremely late in congratulating Dakota today. In a response to a thread about this terrific combo of dog this morning, Dakota came to my mind. I knew I remembered reading her story but apparently didn't have the time to post (I often visit Pet Talk before leaving for work). Anyway, Dakota you are just terrific. I have a standard poodle and can vouch for what terrific family dogs they are and what little **smarties** too. When you mix all of that up with the wonderful attributes of a Golden I can only imagine what a gem Dakota is. To Dakota's human - I hope you are still visiting Pet Talk occasionally and will continue to be a part of it. We'd all love to get to know Dakota and Gunnar much better!
