Please meet Mittens - the 4th little M in our life!

Mittens adopted us when we moved into our new house. She's the most loving stray cat I've ever seen.. She likes to be petted, tolerates being held, even upside-down, loves to rub herself against us and would do anything for a good belly rub.

In our neighborhood there are about 2-3 stray cats, each adopts a house as their own & Mittens adopts us. (Don't worry, everyone in the neighborhood is aware of them so the chance of them being accidentally run over is low. Actually the first thing my neighbors warned me when I first move in was to watch out for the cats!). She mainly stays in our front porch, sometimes she wanders about the neighborhood but always there to greet us every morning and night when we leave or come home. Every time she sees us, she'll run a couple steps ahead of us, then lay down on her side and roll around waiting for her belly rubs.

We don't know how old she is, but are guessing she's about 3-4 years old. The previous owner had her spay & we just brought her to the vet for her shots. We feed her, pet her, play with her & love her as if she's our own. She doesn't like the 3Ms & they don't like her though, so I guess they're even. At first, they barked at her, now they tolerate her only if she's outside and they're inside the screen door - but if let out, they'd chase her away & make sure she's not coming back!

Hope you give her a warm welcome & if you can tell me what type of cat and how old you think she is, I'd like to know it.

She's gorgeous! Too bad the puppers don't like her. Maybe with time they will.

She looks like a DLH to me too. Maybe some Maine Coon, like KAK said. I fostered a boy cat that looked a lot like her too, and he got a really great home. Hope she does well at yours!

Welcome, Mittens! What a sweetie! She looks like she's a Maine Coon/Domestic Shorthair cross.

What a cutie! Of course, what other name is available for a tabby with such a obvious "M" on her forehead! Adorable! I hope the puppers can change their tune.

Ooh, I haven't ventured there yet :)

Can someone help move my thread there?

My 4 year old nephew named her as she is wearing 4 white mittens on her paws :)

Now that I look closely at her forhead, she does have an M imprinted right there!!

Thanks for all your welcome to Mittens.

Mittens, you gorgeous gal! RUB RUB RUB that furry belly. I, too, was going to say a little Maine Coon but I don't know what else. She's a beauty.

She's darling! Miss Mittens, be careful in your outdoor wanderings, now...

Thanks guys! Mittens has been with us for a year & 2 months now. She doesn't wander far and beyond my cul-de-sac, as if she wants to be sure that she's there to greet us when we leave/come home, and between my parents & us, we see her many times a day so we'd know right away if she's missing.

She mostly stays in our front yard, but some times I do see her walks back and forth to the neighbors' houses. Luckily everybody is aware of her existence, so they all watch out for her & make sure she's not being run over by accidents. I think Mittens have learned to move away from the car when she hears the engine started. I've noticed that many, many times. Where I live there are no wild life, so that's also a good thing.

I know God answers prayers (even the ones we didn't specifically asked for!), but it always amazes me how He does it in a way least expected. I'd always wanted to add a cat to our bunch, and have asked for it many times, but my husband always said no (he was not a cat person ) - then we bought our house & voila ... there was our cat!! . Mittens turns my husband into a cat-person in no time. He has embraced the responsibility to feed her & play with her. He bought her a scratch post & lowers his van's window at night so Mittens can sleep inside if she wants. Awww. It feels so good to see my husband caring for Mittens because I know how much he's previously opposed to us having a cat , and she returns his love in 10 folds by always come to sit right beside him when he's out in the front yard tending to the grass or flowers.
