Just to recap, Mr Meow's medicine (cyclosporine) has been reduced from every day to once every 7 days (over the past 7 months).

As of 8-10-08 he had some soft stool (I noticed it haning on his furry butt  ) And a slight decrease in appetite.

Today he had a totally liquid poop (in the box, thank heaven), so off to the vet.

Well, he gained weight (he is 15 pounds and some, now). And the vet thinks he loos good, no swollen glands ot tenderness upon palpation. So we are going to give him some anti-diarrhea meds (endosorb) with some "good bacteria" (lactobacillus acidophilus) and continue with the cyclosporine at once a week.

If he doesn't "firm up" by the end of the week, we might try a little pred and might need to increase the cyclosporine again.

But otherwise, he is doing great. The vet LOVES him, says he is the most gorgeous cat that comes into the practice.

Gentle cuddles and kisses to Mr. Meow! I'm so glad he's doing well - I totally fell for that beastie.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that he's doing well for the most part.:) Hopefully the endosorb will help. I know that if Starr doesn't receive his herbal formula then he'll also have diarrhea again. Please keep us updated about him.

15 pounds!

Jen - I went back through all the Mr Meow threads, and could not find a weight on him. What did he weigh when he first got to your place?

I think some new plush photos are in order.... ;)

KAK...The vet wanted to give him the Forti-Flora, which is a powder that goes on the food and has the "good bacteria" in it (probably much like your suppliment for Starr) but I know from the past that he won't eat it. So we are using a pill form.

Catty.....I think Mr Meow was about 9 pounds on his first vet visit. I remember his paper work from the shelter he came from said 10 pounds and that he LOST weight from not eating.

This is why I have to mix it in with wet food and lately Starr is being very picky and not eating all of it. I sure hope that the pill form will do the trick.:)

15 pounds, that's great! I'm glad he is holding his weight and gaining! I've got to get some of this Forti-Flora or the herbal stuff that Starr is on for Jimmy. Is the Forti-Flora available without a prescription Jen?

Jen - we have to get the Mr Meow fans together for a meeting at YOUR house, and take turns hugging him. He is just TOO gorgeous and adorable! :D

So glad that 'normal' meds fixed him up.:)

OOPS! I spoke too soon. Mr Meow had a soft poop smooshe on his "tail feathers" this morning. :(

I'll give him more of the pills, but we really need to figure out how to keep him regular.

He sure looks healthy and gorgeous in that picture. Maybe he just needs a couple more days to get completely back to normal.

Jen, I'm so sorry to hear this.:( Have you thought about feeding him a raw diet? They make already prepared ones by Nature's Variety and Primal. I'll be trying this out soon with my cats to see if it'll make a difference.

Raw diets are supposed to help animals with IBD,allergies, skin conditions, urinary problems, diabetes etc. You can also make your own recipes at home which I may try in the future.
