i just came out of a 5 year relationship & in all that time i was never able to fall asleep next to that man. now its just me & my 2 little loves again & i have no problem falling asleep. i turn out the lights, get under the covers (they have already settled in their places in the bed), say goodnite & i love you to them, then sleep like a baby. im totally relaxed. that is part of true love, i guess  eva, mrs cat

I'm so glad that you have found your true love! There is nothing nicer than the companionship and adoration that cats provide (and vice versa of course!). I am sorry about your previous relationship however you can now look onwards and upwards and enjoy the special relationship that you have with your cats. {{Strength}} to you and lots of scritchies to your kitties

There's something about an affectionate kitty purring us to sleep every night. I find I can't nod out until Groucho jumps up on the bed and settles in. Our kitties show us their love in so many ways!

Mrscat,
I have found my soulmate as well. He's next to me under the covers with his bald head on HIS pillow every single night. I can't sleep without him there, my arms wrapped around him while he purrs me off to lala land. He's more of a souldmate than ANY of the men I've dated, and his name is MooShoo.
I'm glad you are able to get a good night's sleep with your furbabies.

Ha haa, you got me, Eva / Mrs. Cat. I thought you were going with:
":more comfortable with cats than dogs;"
never did I dream you were heading to:
"more comfortable with cats than . . . that man."
He heee.

Eva, the same thing happened to me. When push came to shove, I chose my Don Juan, and I certainly made the right choice. He cuddles, he doesn't insist I pay for everything in the house (although I do), doesn't complain when I'm at rehearsals late and doesn't insist on watching Lou Dobbs every night.

Chalk up another cat-pair-bonder here. Men can be sweet, but they need SO much, far more than I'm in a position to offer in good faith. And cats don't possess that all-too-human trait of crippling themselves physically, mentally, or emotionally so as to reduce their responsibility in a household. They need what they need, respond to clear signals, and we're not socially trained to turn to them for the "missing pieces" of ourselves. It's just much easier for a woman in my cultural context to have a healthy relationship with a cat than with another human. And, of course, it helps that my little ("little?" Well, he's littler than me) Smudge is the sweetest cat of them all!
Love, Columbine

How absolutely amazing that not one but several of you have found the comfort of a feline companion over a man...... I feel that I would be the same way if I wouldn't have found a man that loves them as much as I do!!!!:eek: He does however know that my felines are my world and they are the same for him.... Otherwise I would be on the kitty band wagon I am sure of it. I was one of the fortunate people to find a man that loves them as much as I do! Although I do however sleep with my kitties rather than my noisy husband their noise is much more calming;) So glad to hear that they have a calming effect on you....As they are on me.....

I hear you! I know that, if I ever marry again or get into a serious relationship (live-in), that man will have to see Oscar cuddle up next to my head on my pillow each morning, purr, clamp an "arm" across my face, and proceed to clean/sandpaper my nose, and think it is CUTE!
Ain't holding my breath on that one! ;):D
And now from a mans View.
I have too agree that it is so nice too be purred to sleep. Even better when
you have more than one. Best when you get a chorus of 3 or more.
It's nice not hearing that it's too cold or too hot.
It's nice too have a snuggle and a kiss first thing in the morning.
It's nice when you come home from work and they meet you at the door
waiting for a scratch and a hug.
It's nice when you are tired and just what to watch TV too have a nice
snuggle and purr.
It’s nice to have a warm body snuggle when you are not feeling well.
It’s nice too be awakened with a kiss. ( I still don’t know how they tell time)
It’s nice to be told that maybe that mid-nite snack should be shared, so you do get too fat.
Believe me I know Lucy and I are going on 23 years but it took two divorces to find her.

I've never been married either but if I ever get into a serious relationship the man would have to love cats. My Storm is my heart kitty and we love to cuddle together in bed. I have a needlepoint picture of a cat that my co-worker gave me and it says "Love me love my cat." In my case it should say "Love me love my cats.":D
Why Cats Are Better Than Men
Cats keep their opinions to themselves.
Cats don't criticize your mother.
Cats never question how much you're eating.
Cats never claim they know how to fix larger appliances.
Cats understand the importance of beauty sleep.
Cats are happy to let you drive.
Cats always look good first thing in the morning.
One good purr can be worth a thousand words.
Cats don't complain when you get a short haircut.
Cats love it when you go shopping.
Cats never return the gifts you get them.
Cats are able to keep the romance alive.
You can let a cat out at night and it always comes back.
Cats are never late for dinner.
You can put a name tag on a cat if it shows signs of wandering.
Cats keep your feet warm.
Cats are furry things that are nice to look at.
Cats don't have a Mother-In-Law.
Cats lick their own private parts.
The only bottle cats hit is the milk.
A cat always hits the litter box.
Better chance of training a cat.
No matter what your cat drags into your house, you don't have to pretend you like it.
You never have to spend time with your cat's mother.
If you ask enough times, a cat may actually listen to you.
A cat purrs when you serve him dinner.
It's okay if a cat rubs up against your best friend.
You don't have to worry about your cat turning into a pig when you host a party.
A cat knows you're the key to his happiness... a man thinks he is.
If a cat jumps into your lap, a little light petting will satisfy him.
:D
personally i have one of each. so i have the best of both worlds

I concur w/everything that everyone has said. I just wish I could have some if not all of my Fur Posse sleep w/me but it just doesn't work. Not enough room and one of them always wants to play, that gets the rest started and then Mom doesn't get any sleep. If one is sick or has had a procedure done, then s/he sleeps w/me. Otherwise, they have their own apartment. LOL

I am blessed as my husband is just as much an animal lover as I am. We have a plaque in our living room that he bought me for our anniversary that says "All God's creatures welcomed here." Our house is an animal house.......11 cats, 4 dogs, and two birds (plus 35 ferals that I feed daily who are extended family). Sometimes he is worse than I am about our fur babies and I wonder if the kitten I am fostering will really leave this house as I believe Daddy will become attached to him.....he has some already. Two of our dogs sleep in the bedroom with us, one in the bed who is ofter under the covers with us. The other two in the laundry room (my two big males don't get along), but have their time in the house with us. At any given time there is anywhere from 5 to 9 cats sleeping with us on the bed. I don't believe it can get any better than that.
