I buy from several places... Petsmart for food and few stuff (when I go to the states).... local stores as walmart (we have those here :P) for toys/treats... and the even more local non brand stores for whatever else I find cute...

also I get stuff over the internet.... several places... petedge, ebay, etc as long as they ship to me ;)

I guess I should have chosen other. I do buy from our local grocery store. I also go to PetSmart, Huron Pet Supply, and/or Pet Supplies Plus when I'm in the area; and occasionally at Target.

I thought I was getting a bargain at PetSmart with a big bag of dry food. Boy, was I wrong. Same bag in my grocery store was $1 cheaper.

I didn't vote cuz I get my cat food at Pet Supplies Plus (cheaper than the grocery store and they carry my brand) and my litter (Feline Pine) at the grocery store $8.99 as opposed to $10.99-$12.99 at the pet stores.

Cat food, and the rats' food(it is a suebee mix), at Wal-mart... which is one of the only stores in town. :)
The dog food we get at a farm supply store in town. I was a bit surprised, yet very happy, to find they carry better brands at low prices.
We have to travel an hour to the nearest Petco to buy the ferret and bird food.. along with the litter for the rats and ferrets.

I shop online for toys(mainly for the birds), as well.

Gosh, if only one store had everything!

Where don't I purchase pet products from? I work at a pet store so I do pick up stuff here and there at work...usually treats, sometimes toys, collars/leashes, etc. I buy dog food from a local "mom and pop" store because its the only place that carries the brand I've been using. I buy toys and occasionally treats at Target/Wal-mart sometimes...I don't go to those stores specifically to purchase pet products, but if I see something I want I'll get it. I've also bought dog beds from Costco. Basically, if a store carries pet products, I'll definitely look whenever I go there and possibly purchase items. I also order from Pet Edge online a few times a year, I use that mainly for grooming supplies though.

Me too! The Farm, Garden and Pet Supply store I use carries only select brands of dog and cat foods, I was quite surprised!

Same. I toss in toys and maybe treats, as long as it doesn't build up my shipping fee.
So if the shipping is $7 for $45 to $65, and my grooming stuff is $61, I'll add odds and ends up to but not over the $65.

Local ("mom & pop") stores & the internet. I buy things at dog shows too when there's one in the city. Oh, and since Dance eats raw, I often buy her food in grocery type stores if there's a good deal.

The only things we get in big chain stores are crickets for the toads and fish food, and only because we can't get those anywhere else.

I buy some of my cats food at an independent pet store called An-Jans Feed & Supply Store and some of it at Pet Food Express. I buy their litter at Petsmart as well as some toys and collars. I've also bought some toys, beds etc. at Target, Big Lots, and a discount pet store called Pet Club. I try to shop for bargains when I can.:)

I get the dogs' food and Andy's food at a pet supply store which is not a chain so I voted "Mom and Pop store." I buy litter anywhere that I happen to be when I am getting low. I look at pet toys also at any store I happen to be in since I am always looking for the perfect toy that will be a real hit with the furry ones.

My parents buy Niņo's kibble at the grocery store, I buy Oslo's food and litter at Petsmart, but next week when I move I'll probably switch him to whatever feed is at Theisen's Country Store.

For toys, it's usually whenever I see a good one on sale. That may be Petsmart, Target, Walgreens or Walmart.

We buy our dog's food at Petco..
Alize' gets primarily Solid Gold Hundchen Flocken now, but we were mixing it with Solid Gold Wolf Cub food. We still buy a small bag of the Wolf Cub to add to it, but we don't give her as much as we were.. We were doing it about half/half.
Deebo is on the Solid Gold Just a Wee Bit food. We had tried him on several different things, including Royal Canin, and etc.. But this is about the only thing we can get him to eat that he actually likes.

Occassionally we get the Solid Gold green cow tripe in the can to give to our dogs as a "treat" with their food, but the smell of it is so disgusting, I can't handle opening the can... Lol.. So, they don't get it very often.

We do buy some treats, toys, and dog shampoo at Wal-mart. But I primarily try to shop at either Petco or Petsmart...

When we were living in SC, there was a Mom n Pop store that we absolutely loved, and they sold the Solid Gold food.. So we shopped there for everything we needed for the critters.

Dry food for my cats inside: local mom and pop store that carries EVO.

Dry food for the strays outside: local supermarket, pet chain store, or walmart. Depends on where I am when I run out.

Litter: have been buying MiMi pearls crystal litter from Walmart. Can't find it anywhere else.

Toys: depends where I am when I find them and think "oh! that's cool!"

There is a wonderful independent specialty store in the shopping centre closest to me. They carry everything and will special order if required. Their selection is outstanding and the customer service, great!

It is high end but competitively priced and quality is very good.

I buy my pet food from a tractor supply store called Big R and I also buy treats and toys and sometimes collars and leashes and shampoo and stuff like that, they have a pretty nice selection.
Sometimes I shop at petsmart if i'm in Springfield and have extra money but not very often cause everything is just too overpriced.

and every once in a while i buy some stuff at Wal-Mart but that's just toys and collars and cat litter

I get my cats stuff from two places..
1) Petco/PetSmart/Pet Supplies Plus
2) The vet

I don't normally buy pet stuff anywhere else, except occasionally the furry mice that Jack likes I find at Walmart.

I buy most of the kids pet products from Pet Club, but I do have a closer, smaller pet store that I will pick things up from, too. Sometimes I will order online, or thru catalogs. I look for the best deal, highlighting quality. Since I have 5 birds, 2 dogs, a 70 pound tortoise, a chinchilla, and severol exotic fish, you can imagine how expensive the food bill can be!...Well, we all know that it's not just food you buy, right??? ;)

To the original post, when Miss Hoppy was around, food was bought from the local produce market and the Whole Foods produce department.

You have a 70-pound tortoise? What kind is he/she?

I buy Sunny's dry food (Blue Buffalo puppy) at petsmart. I get her canned food (Wellness puppy) at Agway.

Moon and Bean have always eaten purina special urinary tract formula to prevent crystal blockages and I can get that in the grocery store. (I didn't know about all the "better" foods for cats way back when but they are both doing so well on it, I didn't want to change them once I became obsessed with my pets health :) ).

I buy my rabbit supplies from two mom & pop pet stores. They are *very* affordable and offer a selection that PetCo and PetSmart could never beat. I am able to buy a 50 lb bag of Oxbow pellets for $49.99 from "Friends of Nature"- which lasts me about 4/5 months. Oxbow is one of the top companies for high quality rabbit feed- and PetCo doesn't even carry it!! PetSmart sells 5 lb. bags for $13 - that would last me about a week and a half if I were lucky!

Cat food came from Petco.
Cat litter was ordered directly from the factory. It was delivered by truck to my door.
