I was on my way to the nail salon to get my nails fixed when a dog crossed right in front of my car. Thank god I wasn't speeding! I pulled over immediately and called the dog to me. Luckily she came straight to me and was all wags. She has a collar but no tags. Other than her teeth, she seems to be well cared for. She's at a good weight, coat's not matted, nails are short.. more than likely is someone's loved pet.

I'm just printing out some flyers now and will be on my way to post them up shortly. Will also swing by the shelters, vets and pet stores to post lost signs.

She gets a bit snarly when my dogs get too close, but so far no teeth on skin contact. Everyone's giving her space for the most part. As long there's no fighting, she will be fostered here until she finds her home.

She's such a pretty girl, and a herding dog to boot! Like Keeva, she's also crazy about tennis balls! Oh.. she'd fit in so well... :o

Thanks guys :) So far so good. She looked like she wanted to inhale the meat when I offered dinner but I realized after a few minutes that she was just chewing it and spitting it back out. Then I tried kibble.. I offered a cup of food. She ate about 1/4 cup.

All the vets were closed early today so I couldn't get her scanned for a chip in time. I will do that first thing tomorrow morning. She does have a tattoo in her ear but it's too small and too far back to read. If there's no chip, I'll post up the flyers at the shops and street corners tomorrow.

I forgot to ask.. what do you guys think she is? At first glance I thought BC but I think she might be Aussie mix or even full Aussie? Her coat color is blue but it could just be a diluted or sunbleached black..

I thought blue BC when i saw the photos. She is very pretty whatever she is.

Thanks for looking after her and trying to find her owners Ashley :).

Shes got to much color to her to be a double merle/lethal white.... all the white on the face does not = lethal white.

Its hard to tell from the pictures alone... and I was just speculating. In fact, I don't even recall seeing that picture last night, maybe it just didn't load for me or I looked over the pics too fast and missed that one, lol. I know that white on the face doesn't denote a lethal white...

Definitely an Aussie or BC, or a mix of one or both. What about a tail; I can't really see if she does or doesn't have one from the pics, but it seems if she does have one its a drop tail which would suggest some BC to me.

Not really... lol Even in the other 2 pictures of him, the coloring on his ears alone is to dark for a double merle... its not even the right color for a blue or red merle.. let alone a double merle/double dilute... or lethal white if thats what you want to call them, though double merle/double dilute is a better term to use, as it more accurately discribes what they really are.

But I've seen a few double merles in a few different breeds and of course lots and lots of pictures of them over the years so maybe its just easier for me to recognize....

It would be easier to tell if we had side shots of the body, but I thought BC as soon as I saw her. She looks tiny! How tall is she?

No matter what she is - she is one lucky pup! How wonderful that you stopped and took her in your car.

Good luck finding the owners - or maybe congratulations on your finding #4.:D

Just an update.. She's with the SPCA now. I took her to the shelter to get her scanned for a chip (no chip btw). But she did have a tattoo so they wanted to take her to the SPCA in Burnaby and hold her there in case her owners come looking for her. I will drop by in a few days and see if she's still there. If she's still there after her holding period is up, I will probably pull her out. :)

That was great of you to keep her safe & then check around for owners.:)

Thanks for getting her to the SPCA shelter. I hope she finds her home.
How old would you guess her to be?

My very, very rough guestimate would be 6ish.. but that was just based on the shape her teeth are in. I could be completely wrong though cause my 10-11 year old has far better teeth than her! :p

Probably just easier for you to recognize. It was just a speculation on my end, I don't need to be picked apart...

Alright, maybe the first time she looked she saw something else? No need to get all "Miss-Know-It-All" on us.

I don't think she was getting all "know-it-all" or "picking anyone apart". She was just providing correct information in case anyone else maybe thought they saw the same thing? Is there something wrong with sharing knowledge on this board now?

Anyways the main point is that this dog is now hopefully one step closer to finding it's home. Good job binka nugget.

Look at what someone emailed me!

LOST - Tri-collored border collie

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reply to: [email protected]
Date: 2008-08-03, 5:20PM PDT

Tri colored border collie lost July 4th between 5-6pm in Pitt Meadows area. She is a good runner and could be anywhere. She has a white tip tail, a white stripe on her nose and a white chest. She may still have her red collar on. Her name is Laila and is a bit timid with new people.

If found or have any information please call...604-465-8974

She did have a bit of brown around her tail.. so she technically is a tri, but with very minimal brown. She also had a red collar. If it is her, she's been missing for almost a month and travelled quite a ways! Pitt Meadows is about 30-45 minutes out by car I think. I emailed them (didn't see the phone number the first time around). I will give them a call today and let them know I found a dog matching the description. :D Fingers crossed it's her owners!

Sorry, I wasn't trying to "pick" anyone apart... I was just trying to correct, incorrect information... sorry you felt I was picking you apart.. that was not what I intended.

Since when is sharing or correcting, incorrect information consider being a "Miss-know-It-All"?? As shelteez stated I thought the porpose of this board was to share knowledge and information with eachother, which is what I was doing.... guess I was wrong... jeez.. I'm sorry, like I said above, I wasn't trying to pick anyone apart..

I hope it's the owners too. The only thing is "white stripe on her nose". Her entire face is white, not just a stripe.
But maybe they are just so worried about her.
Fingers crossed this is her owners.

Well when I already admitted the first time that I overlooked the picture and was just speculating and she goes on again with more proof that I was incorrect it just kind of seemed like a "know-it-all" moment, and to be completely honest with you and her and everyone else it was a rather embarrassing mistake on my end and to have it drug out even more was even more embarrassing for me. I understand that was not her intentions, which is why I was trying to drop it. I'm not meaning to make anyone upset but she kind of made me feel stupid, which isn't her problem, that's my problem is all. So my apologies for that; wasn't trying to stir up anything.

That's what I was thinking since her face is completely white.

Please update us when you know something. I hope she finds her family.

The comment about the white stripe leaves me in doubt. If that was my dog the first thing I would have said was that she had a totally white face with blue eyes, sounds more believable than a white stripe. Maybe ask for more info or pictures of her to prove it's their dog.

BTW - I think she would fit nicely with your dogs....
