The inspection reports have been done (all ok), the deposit has been paid, and now the packing begins in earnest. I think your home can be rather deceptive, in the amount of 'stuff' that apparently proliferates whilst you happily seem to think you have this organized abode.
Now I have moved many times, mainly in my youth. The check list then was rather simple. Stereo..check, bar fridge...check, beer...check, no wait need more, car... check, Clothes....scooped up thrown in the back, check. Off I went to the next house. Nothing to it really....
It seems that the older one gets, the more you are likely to 'better hang on to that'. I have just spent 3 hours, sorting out my garage, which is a surprisingly short amount of time. The reason being is I summoned up the courage to be totally ruthless. (that and the fact I had to work quickly in taping up the boxes so Carole would not see exactly what 'I had better hang on too' :D) Be that as it may I was somewhat taken back at exactly the amount of 'stuff' that I had to through out. I am going to need a rather large skip bin, I have decided that the numerous, well maybe more that numerous, computer parts, air-con parts, washing machine parts, car parts and a pelethra of other 'stuff' will all just have to go. I confidently said to Carole that the amount of 'stuff' I'm taking will be easily packed onto a ute and taken in one trip, much to her surprise. ( I neglected to tell her how big a ute would be needed, I'm thinking 2ton at least, if I'm lucky). I'm now contemplating 6 bookcases crammed with books, and have come to the swift conclusion that definitley a beer or two is needed at this particular time.
One mountain at a time is best I think.

Your new home is great, i hope you enjoy it, and the pups too, where abouts did you move to? sorry if you already said i missed it. Yes one seems to accumulate a lot of junk over the years, i have stayed put for over 25 years, so i hate to think about moving ever. Good luck in your new home.

Your new house is gorgeous. You are right, we never seem to realize how much "stuff" we accumulate. I think we need to be more like the dogs, a soft bed, a good bone, and a food and water bowl and they are good to go. Enjoy your new home, Trevor. I hope the move goes well, and that you get more PT time once you are settled in. (hint, hint ;) ).

If you got the ani-mules to snap your pic-get them to help you!

Joy and moving are two exclusive words-not to be used in the same sentence!;)

OH, LOL

I am guessing a ute is short for 'utility truck/box truck'?

Here in Ah Mur Icah a "Ute" is an Indian (Native) Name!

Thanks everyone.
Richard, we are a tad lazy with grammar down under, the thought of using three syllables to say utility, when we can say one in UTE, seems to be more appealing. :D, and 'joy' & 'moving' are a bit of an oxymoron I suppose.

Noticed you were on earlier today, Trevor. How did the move go? How are the pups settling in? Hope all went well.

Hi all,
Yes we're in. :) I took two weeks of work, and I've probably not worked harder in my life. The house is great. I manged to get a painter in before the move, which was a relief. The previous owner put in a brand new kitchen and painted the wall lime green. So I had the house down in 'berkshire white' throughout. The curtains are going to go as well. I will probably put some wood blinds up I think. I've still got a garage full of boxes, but we are getting there at least. It's just good to be in our own home.
(The pups seem to like there new home too)
Kitchen before re-paint.

LOL,

A few things about moving, painting and living?

The box that you need the most is always at the bottom of the pile.

Berkshire White....Go into you local hardware with the SO and say something like, "I want to paint a room white." Within 10 minutes of standing in front of the samples you will be saying things like. Off white, Polar white, Arctic White,
Appliance White...;)

When the new house cool offs in the evening why does every creak and groan make you sit up and wonder, 'WHAT WAS THAT?";)

Have I told you yet how good it is to see you back here???? I've thought
of you from time to time (especially when I see an old Star Trek episode :D) and wondered how life is treating you. I've missed you and the family and especially those delicious recipes of yours. Is the the BBQ in place yet?

I'll bet you're glad this is over with for now! Now all you have to do is get rid of all the boxes sitting around. Your house is beautiful and I'll bet the girls have settled right in.

Now, how about lots of pictures of the girls to celebrate??? ;)
