just wondered how many of you enjoy swimming during the summer? I have always enjoyed it....I SO wish my mom would get us a pool built she has been saying she is going to but it might be next year until she gets the $$$ to do it...
so--who here likes to swim?????

Not in the slightest. :)
I never have. When I was little I would refuse and tell my mum that the water was "icky". She forced me to learn how to swim, anyway, but I never learned to enjoy it. I do enjoy boating, canoeing, & kayaking.

I do! I do! I learned canoeing at church camp in junior high; wish I could do that more often.

I hate being wet! I do most of the work taking care of our pool, but in the last 3 years have maybe be in the water for a total of an hour. And that's stretching it.

Well it depends... I don't really like doing it a lot but if I'm at the beach I'll be there all day! I don't necessarily like swimming but I love floating around on a raft or just wading :)

Besides, it's too much work for me to "get ready" to swim, gotta make sure you shave and all that fun stuff... and I HATE shaving :(

I love to swim! Just not in the ocean! lol I am terribly afraid of the ocean and all the creatures in the ocean.... Weird, I know. Lakes I don't mind, though!;)

Me too! I love to swim!!! I was on the Watauga Swim Team, and it only took half a month for me to move up! I was in a Swim Meet, and I still just love to swim during hot days in the summer! My dog hates the water, and I do not know what his problem is.

I like swimming, and not just in summer! I swim for the school team sometimes - I can do races but mostly I go for the endurance tests. I can maintain a fairly good front crawl for a mile or so. It's odd, because if I ran that distance, I'd exhaust myself! I think it's probably because I have more upper body strength than leg strength thanks to horse-riding. One day, I'd like to swim the Channel for charity, like David Walliams did! :D

I love water. I love all kinds of swimming except for lap swimming. I took aquatics for my gym class one semester in high school, and we learned how to SCUBA. I really want to get my open water cert so I can dive outside the pool! When I was little, I practiced treading water with only my legs because I saw the dolphin and whale trainers at Sea World doing it and waving with their hands. I wanted to be a dolphin or orca trainer for a very long time.

I think I am opposite of you. My arms are really weak, but my legs are really strong from riding.

It's funny how different riders turn out in different ways. One of my friends is like you - she's a brilliant runner thanks to her leg strength from riding. Maybe just the different ways people naturally sit on the horse causes them to become strong in certain areas. :) In dressage I don't use my legs for too much other than squeezing and keeping still, but other riders that jump more than I do I understand use them a lot more. I wouldn't say my strength is in my arms though, it's probably more in my shoulders and back.

That's awesome! I would love to learn how to scuba dive.

I love going swimming. The ocean is really cold up here, so I haven't done that very often. But I used to go swimming once a week in the public pool :) Unfortunately it's now closed for the summer ._.

OMG yes!! I love swimming. I can't think of anything I'd rather do in the summer. I have an in-ground pool and it's just the best. It's so refreshing. Swimming is probably one of my favorite things to do. I love kayaking, boating, tubing, water slides, etc. Mostly anything to do with water, I'll LOVE it!! :p (aside from drowning that is)

I used to go to the public pool every day when I was in middle and high school. It was where everyone hung out and we had a good time. Some were on swim teams, others played tennis. Me, I hung out with friends and played poker and gambled with red hot dollars and swedish fish, lol.

My parents have a large above ground pool. They got it the year AFTER I moved out. Sigh. I do go in when I go up there, but with gas prices the way they are, that isn't as often as I'd like it to be.

We have pools here in the city, but it's mostly kids that are there. I could get a gym membership with a pool membership, but again, that's pricey, and I just can't afford it. I miss the pool. The closest I get to swimming and water these days is when I'm watering my flowers and plants with the hose, lol.

I love swimming. We have a steal sided pool that will be ready tomorrow. And my dad's friend has a big inground pool. <3

I swim for the heck of it and for fun. I don't like the beach much because the beaches around here are kind of gross but some of them are nice but just too far.

I love to go swimming. It's one of my favorite things to do. My mom signs up for a membership at a swim club every summer so me and my friends can go there whenever we went to swim.

I used to love it!! The sea was my favorite! But since my backtroubles, I cannot risk that anymore: when I am down on the ground, there is NO way I can get up again:(
I've given up swimming at the pool too, because I don't have enough strenght to get down or up that ladder:rolleyes:

I love to swim, though I haven't in years. When we are in the pool at my sister's house, it's for a party and we are all playing around, there's not actual "swimming" involved. "We" being me and all the nieces and nephews!
