There are a total of 5 adults that need spay/neuter. We were able to catch two and bring them to the vet for fixing. We've got 4 more cats to go, not to mention a feral kitten who, after the other kittens were caught, stays very close to her mama. Well, now Mama Sophie as I've named her, is at the vet as well as Stray #1 (didn't know the sex as I wasn't about to stick my hand in the carrier to find out).

This is a good thing. What really IRKED my behind was that the guy, who owns these cats and lets them roam free, and was the one who got the two in the carriers didn't flinch a bit when I mentions I had NO gas and NO money to buy any. I still have to go back to the vet tomorrow to pick the two cats up on 1/4 of a tank of gas.

I'm tired and cranky right now from this guy's stupidity. Can't wait for my meds to kick in.:p

What a jerk that guy is!!

It's wonderful that you've got two of them to the vet though, and I hope someone will help out with the others. Thumbs up for you! :)

Thanks Randi!

To add insult to injury, there is a mama and kittens living on a roof of a house across the street. *sigh*

Sometimes this whole thing makes me feel like I'm bailing out a boat with a teaspoon.

Called the vet. Both cats (Mama Sophie and Stray #1 that turned out male) are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and dewormed and will be picked up tomorrow. I WILL have a talk with the jerk who owns the cats and tell him, the next two we take in, he's gonna be responsible for financially. I just hope I can keep my composure cuz right now I am just furious with his irresponsibility.

You're doing great, Donna. Try not to lose your cool w/the guy because people get really weird sometimes and he might just decide that he won't let you handle the other two. A friend of mine felt bad for a dog that a guy kept chained in his yard w/out food or water and she couldn't stand it so she gave him a piece of her mind and gave the dog food and lots of water. When she went back the next day to check on the dog and at least give it some more water, he called the cops on her. She left and the police were waiting for her when she got home and they told her that she'd be arrested if she "bothered" the man's dog again. The guy didn't get into any trouble for neglect and/or mistreatment of the dog. And my friend was 78 years old at that time. Ya never know how people will react, so in the best interests of the kitties, cuss him out under your breath but smile sweetly. (And call me if you need to vent. I can take it. :p)

Thanks Mary. I'll call you tomorrow when I get back from dropping the kitties off to let you know how I *ahem* handled myself.

The good news is, out of all the cat (there are a total of 4) we managed to get the only female, which means HOPEFULLY there will be no more babies from her, anyway.

Some people just do see letting their pets breed as a problem! They could care less! Grrrrrrrr! Heck, I even took Samantha's former Mom to the kill shelter to SHOW her all the lovely animals there that would be put to sleep just from lack of homes and did it make any differance? NO! She still wouldn't get her fixed....

I was wrong, there is one more female to be spayed. The other 2 are males. We won't be able to do anything until I get the spay/neuter vouchers in a couple of weeks.

Another female (possibly pregnant) went to be spayed this morning. Ray (the guy who's feeding them) said there are more kittens!!! I know he means well. But I'm tired. Running the cats back and forth, gas, my energy, it's starting to get to me. This guy has no CLUE has to how much it costs to fix cats. When I told him I had two slots of the low cost spay/neuter van at $68per cat, he said he can have it done for $20. I told him after this, he's on his own to make the arrangements and get the cats to and from the place that DOES only charge $20 (it's actually $40/cat). He said he would (I highly doubt it). Heather, the woman who feeds them in the morning is furious!! She spends $40/week on cat food. Ray never offers her to pay her. She said her main concern are the cats. Fortunately they have shelter and can go in and out of his shack.

Just when I thought we were making headway, he lowers the boom on us telling us about the kittens. I'm done. He's on his own after tomorrow when I pick Tia up (I named her in honor of Zara's Tia). I wonder if he knows how many litters one cat can put out in a year. I doubt it.

*sigh* Sorry for venting, but stupid, irresponsible people really annoy the HE** out of me.

I'm w/ya on the constant running back and forth and the gas expense, etc. It appears to be never-ending. Take care of yourself, Donna. You're doing your best and that's more than a lot of people do. Don't totally burn yourself out. We're sending good thoughts here. :)

Thanks Mary. Tia did very well. When I brought her back I fed her and she was letting me pet her the whole time. There's a little tuxie that came around to eat as well. I wish I could take him in or at least find a home for him.

There won't be anymore spay/neuter vouchers until sometime in October. I have two slots for the low cost spay/neuter van at the end of August. Heather and I have decided that since this idiot cannot be reliable enough to make arrangements for the rest of the cats, I will trap them myself and run them to Newington where the van will be at that time. We're going to split the cost (total cost $68 per cat). After that, I am done.
