This is a cross post from Cat Breeds:
A friend of mine wants to adopt one or even two Maine Coon kittens. She lives in Canton, Ohio so if there is anyone close by who has some up for adoption or if you know of anyone who does, please reply to this thread and we can take it from there. She had cats when I met her but over the years, they both died. She has found a couple but they were quickly adopted before she was even able to see them. Thank you in advance.

Mary,
Tell her to look on Maine Coon Alliance Rescue Network. There are tons of MC's that need good homes.
I will email Carolyn Fitzgerald and let her know that someone in Ohio is looking for a MC. She'll be able to find one for her.
Whatever your friend does, PLEASE do NOT BUY a Maine Coon from a breeder. Not sure who has this on their siggy but "Do not buy while shelter cats die".

Thanx, Donna. I doubt that she would consider a breeder anyhow but I'll pass on your info to her. :)

What town in Ohio is she??? I've emailed my friend and she usually gets back to me pretty quickly.
Also, she can check Petfinder.com and put in her zip code and "Maine Coon" under breed and she'll find alot of wonderful MC's looking for furrrever homes.

She's in North Canton, Ohio. She checked Petfinder and that's how she found the ones that were quickly adopted. She did say that she would take one Maine Coon and possibly a long haired orangie for her grown son who still lives at home. (He's in college.) He loves orange cats and they had one for years and he was her son's favorite.

THERE ARE QUITE A FEW MAINE COONS LOOKING FOR HOMES SADLY, AS A LOT OF EOPLE ARE LAZY, AND DONT WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO PROVIDE THE GROOMING THAT THESE GENTLE GIANTS NEED.
I HOPE YOUR FRIEND CAN HELP TWO OF THESE LOVABLE CATS OUT, AND
GIVE THEM THE LOVE THAT THEY DESERVE.

My friend is picking up a Himalayan on Sunday and there's a possibility that she may get a Maine Coon, too, according to her email. So thanx for your replies, friends; I appreciate it.
