Jim Mckay, the voice of the old ABC sports programs passed away at 86.
McKay, who's voice opened the Wide World of Sports by reminding people of the thrill of victory and the agony of strapping boards onto your feet in the snow and doing cartwheels off of a ski jump, was an award winning broadcaster and did work on 12 olympiads over his career.
I learned about many different sports watching JM. Dog sled racing, jumping barrels on skates, arm wrestling-all the bizarre stuff that you'd never even think about.
Saturday's were fun-I always had time to kick back and go places, for an hour or two, with the Jimster!
HBO did a special on him a while back, well worth the time.
God bless ya, Jimmy, it was a swell ride!
