Went white water rafting this weekend in Fayetteville, WV with 9 other people.
This was my 3rd trip on the Lower New River and was by FAR the calmest!
In the past we've gone earlier in the spring when the river is 7 or 8 foot above normal and COLD!!
But this year we went a few weeks later and the water was only 1 1/2 foot above and it was a BEAUTIFUL weekend!
We were on the river for about 4 hours and the sun was shining for most of the trip! And the rapids were calm (I say calm like it was a lazy tube river ride :p) By calm I mean there were only 3 class 4 rapids and 1 almost class 5.
Sure beats a freezing, ragging river chock full of class 4 and 5 rapids!!
That's how the river was 6 years ago when our raft flipped and I got stuck under it and almost drowned.
Everyone else that went with me thought the river was almost boring it was so calm! So they want to do a different section of the river, they want to do the middle Gauley next spring. We'll see about that!
Our Awesome guide Doug brought his camera with him and he was SO nice that he e-mailed it to me!
If anyone ever thinks about going rafting. I highly recommended the Rivermen!

I'm the one with the gray shirt w/ orange stripe near the back of the boat and my hubby is the one in the very front of the boat, same side as me, that's under water!
