Since I have joined PT years ago, I noticed that many of you have particular breeds that you.. well.. obsess over(which is a good thing!). So, let us take count: How many here are in love with a particular breed? It does not matter if it is a breed of dog, cat, bird, etc.

I voted yes and I'll have to agree with Jessika on this one. :p However, I do have several favorite breeds, usually ones I've had before. Like Cocker Spaniels, Min Pins, German Shepherds and Greyhounds. There are also tons that I've met and fell in love with. Like Great Danes, Mastiffs, Wiemeriners...oh I could go on and on and on. But my :love: is for Aussies. :)

Shelties! I will always have a Sheltie! They're intensely loyal and so intelligent! They're perfectly happy being a couch potatoe with the family, or spending the weekend herding sheep or getting agility Qs! They're not too small, not too big.. just perfect!

I also am crazy about Malinois. They're not for the faint of heart and require a handler who is ALWAYS on top of things, cause they will push you around (mentally and physically). They NEED to work. I enjoy the challenge with Keeva and have learned a lot about myself as a trainer since living with her.

Dalmatians, they hold a special place in my heart. My friends are good for putting up with hearing "An In Depth History of the Breed with Added Commentary" as well as "What Causes the Particular Health Problems Within the Breed and Why They Still Persist." :D :p

absolutly! I am addictited to Border Collies, whats not to love about a breed that is easy to train, adores its people, is considered the smartest breed and exeles at absolutly everything? lol

Tollers are my number 2 faverite breed..I love them because they remind me a bit of Border Collies lol

I love all dogs and all cats but lately I've been secretly thinking about a BOSTON TERRIER!! I also love pugs and chihuahuas and jack russells. Maybe we will find a dog that is a mix of some of the above breeds to join our family by the end of the summer. A rescue only of course!

I'd have to say German Shepherd Dogs are one of my most favorite. :love: I'd sure like to have a Golden Retriever one day. :D Shelties are high on the list also.;) I've always loved Newfies,Great Pyrenees and Collies.:cool: Oh, did you say just one?:p

I voted no. Until I was about 30 I was totally obsessed with Old English Sheepdogs, and I still have stuffed animals, drawings and statutes of them all over the condo. However, once I got my first dog and got out and about meeting and experiencing all of the wonderful breeds and mixes out there I can't say that I have one that I obsess over any more. More like it goes in waves. I will spend all of my time reading about and looking for shiba inus, then the next year it will be pugs, then a year later Tollers, then a year later...well you get the idea.

I had to answer yes. I have several dog breeds I love but I think just 3 I am IN LOVE with and they are the American PitBull Terrier, American Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the Akita.

Cats I love them all. Long fur, short fur, curly fur, straight fur even no fur. I am IN LOVE with the Balinese (thanks to Vega), Ragdoll, & Ragamuffin.

I am not a bird person or even small animal person but there are a few I adore.

I love love the African Grey Parrot & the Cockatoo. I adore beyond words ferrets & rats as well.

Yes! Collies.. I will always have Collies (Rough, smooth or both! the are Collies!) they, to me, are the best breed in the world.. smart, loyal, quick to learn, and can do anything you want them to do!... I will always have my Collies!!..

Other breeds that I like, and would love to have one of some day... Boxers!! Some day I will have one!! I also LOVE Dobies!.... and Bull Mastiffs!... and back to the herding breeds, would love to have an Aussie some day!..

I voted YES. But there are several breeds of dog I love:
Border Collies, Rough coat Collies, Bichons (only since I've owned them, te hee!), Shelties, Golden Retrievers, Bedlington terriers (although I only know about them, I've never actually seen one!) and Aussies. And a few others.

Cats: I don't believe I've met a cat I didn't love!

That being said, I love Border Collies and Belgians almost just as much, and English Shepherds have caught my eye as well but I don't know a whole lot about them yet.

Oh, and after being around so many Dobermans and having a couple, I can't leave them out either. I adore them.

PIT BULLS are my number one! I love any bully breed really especially the pit bulls. :love: same rank with HOUNDS :love: LABS :love: CATAHOULA LEOPARD DOGS :love: GERMAN SHEPHERDS/mixes ROTTIES and MUTTS! :D I love ALL dogs though but those are the breeds I am smitten with especially pit bulls, hounds, labs, rotties, gsds, mutts, and catahoulas. :) and any big dog. :D small dogs aren't my thing but I still love them. :) I have loved every dog where I work for cat breeds my number ones are tabbies and bengals. :)

I'll always have a special place in my heart for Collies and Cairns. Not sure I'll ever have another Cairn though. Murph and Maddie are pretty much irreplaceable, especially Maddie. I think she was a very unusual Cairn, so finding another like her would be very hard. Doesn't seem fair to expect another dog to live up to that.

I thought I'd always have a Smooth Collie. I just love their intelligence and congenial personalities. But if the gas prices keep going up, as my next car will have to be downsized, so will my breed of dog. I may have to think small again. Border Terrier, Corgi or maybe a Cavvie.

The first dog I ever had was when I was 7 years old. She was a rough collie. I had her until I was 17 years old. She was my best friend for 10 years--so even though now I have a maltese that I love and adore like crazy I know that there will never be another dog like my collie. So I guess you could say I'm in love with collies--but really I was just in :love: with my collie.

Since I came to Pet Talk, I have gotten to be a fan of Borzoi, Huskies, CKCS, Bichon Frise (thank you to Fritz and Freedom's four) and Chihuahuas (thanks to Chopper, Daisy, Delilah, Mister and Betina!) But I like dogs, cats and bunnies, and I've learned a lot about other pets (including guinea pigs, hamsters, chicks, reptiles, horses, and birds). I'm partial to cats, and I hope to have a dog some day if I ever live in a dog-appropriate place.

After loosing Sassy, I've found I really enjoy the company of little dogs. Not only toy breeds, but terriers, papillions, boston terriers, border terriers, etc. I hopefully will have one of those one day. I really don't want another maltese, but who knows? I will probably have a few big dogs in my lifetime but I will always love smaller dogs. :love:

My favorite breed of ALL is Pit Bulls.. The "American Bullies", or APBT's.
A lot of people don't like the "blue hippos", but there is something about them that makes me like them.
I do however agree that they are WAY too over bred, and its not healthy for those short dogs to be that large.. And I would never pay what those breeders ask for them.. But still, I do think they are rather gorgeous (or at least some of them).

I have too many other favorites to say that there is only one that is in 2nd place..

I'll add I have 100% fallen for greyhounds. I've always loved them and always thought I would maybe end up with one but now I know I will definitely get one!! My next dog will definitely be an ex-racer. They have to be the most gorgeous and elegant dog breed, imo. They are my favorite breed, though they have always been up there. I also like Italian greyhounds. Can't wait to get my own grey from www.greyhoundfriendsnj.org.
