Hello all you Californians! How bout we get a meeting set up? I know it won't be as large or exciting as the Findlay meetings (I really want to go to one of those sometime), but we can still have some fun!!

Here is the thread that got the idea rolling: http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=142691

Of course dog owners can bring their dogs, but hopefully we can get non-dog owners to join us as well. :D

Those look like they were TONS of fun!! I want to do that!!! :D
Think we can get people to attend? Or will they be burnt out from the Findlay partee (gini, mainly).
Well, if we can schedule it in July..........maybe. :)
Oh, I sure hope we can do it at a time I can attend. *fingers crossed*

If we do it on a day I can come (and it's not too far from me), I can do pet portraits as well. PM me for my web address to see pictures I've done in the past (unless I'm allowed to post it in this thread). I live just on the northern border of San Diego county. Hope I can make it. :):)

I hope something can be decided! It would be so much fun!

Hmm for starters..where in SoCal? LA area...? Orange County..? San Diego ..?
I am sure there are more possible areas :p

Too tired for a Pet Talk meeting? Never! I would love to meet new people who live in the So. Ca. area.

Ok, since Ashley (travis_gsd27) and I are not good at setting up meetings, LOL. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a location that we could meet?
And we are thinking of a date later in July, maybe the 20th or 27th.
So if you have an idea of a location or a preference of a date, please let us know. :)

Heh, my grandparents own about 10 acres of property and it would be great for a meeting. I wouldn't expect everyone to drive out to my town though.

We definitely need some help! It would seem we are quite hopeless when it comes to planning these things :p

Any updates or anything? :D

Taz_Zoee
06-19-2008, 05:32 PM
No, we haven't decided on a place or date yet. We were hoping for ideas. Since I do not live down there I have no idea of places to go.
As for the date, I would need a Sunday so I'd only have to take Monday off work. And I'm thinking later in July, so as I said in an earlier post, the 20th or 27th.
Even if it is just a few of us, I think it would be fun to get together. :)

Well, how far south is everyone willing to go? There are lots of dog parks in northern San Diego County. The one in Escondido is nice, but I haven't been to the one in Vista or the one in Temecula. Other than those, I don't know if there are any in my area. If you guys are talking about L.A., I don't know anything about that area.

I am willing to go south, I am already in Orange County, haha :D

06-23-2008, 10:20 PM
I'm sorry guys, but I have NO clue about anything. So I'm just waiting for a day and place and I'll do my best to be there. :)
Ashley, what do you think?? :)

06-27-2008, 12:52 PM
I'm horrible with this. I really do not get out LOL
Maybe a beach? It would be fun to take the dogs to the beach [I've been meaning to take Trav] and it would make for great pictures.

Taz_Zoee
06-27-2008, 02:38 PM
Ohh yeah!! The beach!!! :D :D That sounds great! Is there an off-leash beach? Because Zoee doesn't do well on leash with other dogs around.

(HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHLEY!)

Someone else is going to have to chime in about beaches. I can look around online, but as of right now I have no idea. lol. [surprising, I know :p ]

Oh, what part of California? End of Sept, beginning of October would actually probably be even better for me. Not sure about Ashley though.
Anyone else? :)

Well, things have been put on hold for right now, but if I come out it will most likely be October. I would be in Irvine.

I didnt realize how difficult it would be to organize a meeting. LOL

Pretty much any time will work for me. So long as we can situate it on a Tuesday or Sunday.

October sounds good for me, anytime is good tho.
Is it's before September then any day is good...after sep, has to be on a weekend for me. :)

Ok, someone take control of trying to gt this organized!!! I would love to take what I would consider my only vacation in the past 10 years to come to visit friends I've made in Cali. Plus I've never been there. I just need to know what dates we'd be looking at, hopefully on a weekend so I don't miss work, lol, and so I can see what airline rates are.

First:
Is someone a good planner???

Someone who knows this area, and can recommend a place to meet.

Who else on Pet Talk is from that area??? RICHARD??? Edwina's Secretary???

Not sure. I can type up things if you want, or since I'm off of work, most days, I can make calls and such... I just don't want to be in charge (plus I'm not on the West Coast), but I'll definitely be the "go to girl" if you need one!! :D  Lemme know, or let Cindy (Taz_Zoee) know so we can see this come to fruition before Christmas, lol.

Let's get this all set, so we know and can have this all down and settled and then don't have to stress!!

1. Let's Pick a date.
2. Pick a Place
3. Pick a theme
4. Are we bringing things or will we cater?
5. How many people do we think will come, so we
know what size area we should meet at, and how
much food will need to be brought or prepared.
6. Dog and cat friendly hotels in the area, or,
7. PT folks willing to rent out a sofa bed to a fellow PTer for the night
8. Any kinds of activity entertainment that is close by that we can do as a group (without the doggies at some point), like an amusement park or mini golf for that matter. Something to get friendships and conversation started.

Let's figure all that out!!!

You can reach me by phone if you have any questions, just PM me for it and we can conference call and shit like that. I also have my Yahoo Messenger, ICQ and AIM accounts linked on here, so you can always contact me that way as well.

Ok?? Let's get this going! It's almost August, and if we're looking at October (from what I read previously) we need to get our butts in gear.

I wanna go to Cali, baby!!

What about Labor Day? I was planning on driving to the Ohio meeting for Labor Day but I don't think I can afford that now. :( California is much closer, we were considering going there.

I doubt I'd have enough cash saved up for Labor Day, which is why October appealed to me (starting 2nd job sometime this week!!). Plus Labor Day is the 1st or 2nd week of school for us, so busy busy busy, and we're in over the weekends getting things ready. Crazy, I know.

If you guys do decide on Labor Day, I'll still help doing calls and stuff though, just let me know!

Oh boy, thank you Jennie for taking the reins on this. I'm just at a loss.
And thank you ilovemypup for listing all these parks and such.
I'd personally prefer beach, but if we go later in the year it may be too cold for a beach day.
Yeah, funds are short here as well, so I'm hoping I'll be able to make it. I'll be flexible with the date and just see if I can make it once a date is decided.
I really hope Jennie can make it. Amy would you be able to make it if we didn't do it Labor Day??

If any one is interested, can we decide on a date?? I think that needs to be decided first.

Chime in please!

I'd love to meet some new Pet Talkers and see some of the Pet Talkers that I've already met, but I don't think that I would be able to do this in October.:(

Hopefully we can set up a meeting next summer because this is when my work is slow and I can take more time off. I'd also love to have a PT meeting in Northern CA if possible but I'd also be willing to travel to Southern CA as well.:) I sure do miss the having the annual LA PT BBQ but I also wouldn't mind starting an annual Northern CA PT BBQ.:)

Here is my suggestion...

Dana Point Harbour. Lots of picnic groves with grills, tables and little shelters.

Dog friendly but they must be on leash. Tons of dogs all the time.

Easy access from I5.

Plentiful and clean restrooms.

Other activities - boat tours (whale watching, etc.) in the harbour. Beaches.

I suggest either October 12 or 19 (both Sundays.)

Not terribly expensive motel if needed. (Has been used by a couple of PetTalkers who can comment...)

Located between San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano.

That area looks really gorgeous!

I'm waiting to see if anyone is going to be interested. So far, doesn't seem like there are more than 5, if that. :(

If it doesn't happen this October, it can always happen next year.
