I wasn't aware they've been accepted. Are they herding or working? Is merle accepted?

I love those dogs.... they are to me a mix of Dobie, Rottie and Shepherd.... I love their looks... I had seen they were "on-hold" before being accepted along with some other breeds.... does this mean the Beauceron are now able to register under AKC?... as while being FSS they were not suposed to

they were approved on aug 2006

I hadn't heard of that breed. It is a herding breed. Here is some info:

Moved into the herding group in June 2007:

Beauceron have been approved??? Hot Dang! Now I have to get me one :D

I've always admired Beauceron and I've always had a gnawing desire to get one for agility.

I adore the breed - if I ever get involved in an AKC breed that will probably be it. I met an owner at the Carolina Classic - and the dogs were just beautiful - I love the lower military crop, the tight feet and the saber tail...and they can WORK! lol - I just adore em....they get biiiiiiiig though!

I've been seeing a handler with one at a lot of shows lately. The boy he has is GORGEOUS!!! It's nice to have an addition to the herding group. Although it's not the only addition to the group. Don't forget the Swedish Vallhund. Those dogs are personality on four short n stubby legs! :D

To me they look like a TALL ACD with some dobie mixed in.

They look so pretty!
