Hi everyone. Both Storm and Sunny went to the vet for their annual exams. They weren't very happy about it and Sunny sang almost the entire way. Storm also meowed a bit but he has a very soft raspy meow so he wasn't heard much.
Sunny is in excellent health and he now weighs 11.2lbs. At first I was concerned with this because he was a little over 12lbs last year but my vet said that it's because he's now on a high protein diet. All of my cats are now eating Innova Evo wet and dry. My vet also said that he has a very glossy coat and she adores him.:)
Storm had urine and blood taken for testing which also includes a thyroid test. My vet also decided to look at his bladder with an ultrasound and she didn't charge me for this. His bladder looked great. She quickly started his urinalysis and his results were very good. I don't know the numbers but she said that everything looked good.:)
This past week Storm hasn't been eating as well as he normally does and he's been not wanting to eat his wet food which he really needs.:( I noticed that some of his gums looked very red so I suspected that he may need a dental cleaning. Well I was right. His gums don't look good and he may also need to have at least 2 teeth extracted.:( As long as his blood work comes back fine, he'll be going in for a dental cleaning very soon.
I asked my vet why would he refuse wet food but continue to eat dry food? She said that the wet food may be irritating his gums and teeth but he can swallow the dry food whole without any problem. I sure hope that everything will go well for him. He's had at least 3 dental cleanings in his 12 years and he had to have 1 tooth extracted the last time. I'll continue to keep you updated about him. Thanks for reading this.
