Thank you for the compliment! :D Not only are they beautiful, but they are SUPER SMART and excellent with children. All the neighborhood kids really love Lady, as she is very playful and affectionate, plus I also think she is so beautiful.

I hope your friend joins the forum and posts some pictures when she gets one.

She seems very sweet :] And they seem like very loving dogs :D I'd actually not mind getting one myself, but they're very expensive according to my friend getting one :[

If they are expensive (I don't know how expensive they are since Lady was a gift from heaven -- read about her birth in her thread and you'll see why I say that), then I really lucked out with Lady.

Experts say the flat-coated retriever is an excellent breed because it hasn't been touched by puppy mills/pet shops like the other 3 types of retrievers:

1) Golden
2) Labrador
3) Curly-coated

As such, the breed has not been exploited and has retained it's original beauty and intelligence.

I love Lady so much and I am so thankful she came into our lives. I hope someday you own one, you won't regret it, especially if you have children.

twirlbird,

Lady's energy level is non-stop when we're out of the house, but she's always calm inside, unless children arrive and show her a ball. As far as being picky == no way!! She eats everything we feed her, and I mean == absolutely everything!

The more I hear about Lady, the more convinced I am that Duncan must be a flat-coated!! I have never, ever seen him run out of energy...We go to the park morning and night and he runs around the entire time!! The other night I took my friend's dog with us and after about 45 minutes both he and I were sitting down and Duncan was jsut running in circles around us! BUT in the house, if I want to lie down and nap or just be mellow, he'll do the same.
Also, he eats everything!! I love brussel sprouts ( I know everyone else hates them...!)I gave one to Duncan and after a few seconds and spitting it out once, he ate it!! I couldn't believe it!

Jenn, My dog is the same, she'll eat anything, and if shes out playing she never seem to run out of energy. Shes a Lab though

Caitlin, Heyy! you hear that?? They eat anything! finially you can have a non-picky eatter doggie like u said ;] LOL
