:( I won't be going to Anna's today. I had a bad night with lots of coughing and I'm running a slight fever. I had to call and let her know that I wouldn't be coming. I hate that! It is snowing here today and I was actually looking forward to going. I'm one of those weird people who likes the snow and doesn't mind driving in it. I have had this cough and sore throat for awhile now and even had a temp at one point in the hospital. I'm thinking about calling the dr. I don't want to go though...lol. Really tired of doctors and hospitals.

Don't worry though. My spirits are still up and I am just going to rest up today. I do have to go out real quick to drop off papers at the lawyers office and have them notarized (sp). I don't want to waste any more time in getting this divorce process going.

Keep those positive thoughts and prayers coming that the dragon will be slayed ;)

Well, at least since I was sick today you were able to get some stuff done. Sounds like you were pretty busy.

I finally got that paperwork filled out and had to force myself to get dressed and drop them off at the lawyer. Decided since I was already dressed and out that I would go ahead and go to the bank and then I also stopped at the store where I picked up a little gift for you ;). Then when I got home I thought I would try to shovel some of that snow because I can still hear you yelling at me about not shoveling the snow when you were down here the last time..lol. Well, the heck with the snow. I went into a major coughing fit and couldn't stop. Now my head feels like a freakin' basketball and my chest is hurting. All because I wanted to make an extra stop to get that gift for you and shovel that stupid snow just for you :rolleyes: . Geesh, why do you have to make me work so hard. You know I'm not feeling well! :p :D

Funny that you had your hair done today because instead of making that appt with the dr. I called and made an appt. to get my hair done tomorrow...lol. I'm in desperate need because that 100% gray is coming through big time :rolleyes:

Ok, I had my hair done today. What do you think? I like the color. This is never how my hair looks when I do it..lol. It is cut shorter in the back. A "sling bob" is what I think she called it.

Grace, not much difference if there was a before shot. Except some gray roots :rolleyes: . I've pretty much have had my hair the same way for a long time now except for it being shorter in the back. I couldn't get a decent picture of the back of it. I just can't ever style it like my hair stylist does. Sometimes that isn't always so bad because she can really put some goop in my hair and make it look pretty crazy...LOL.

I love Pet Talk! Thank you to each and everyone of my Pet Talk Family. You all have been so super supportive and with your help I know I can overcome all of this.

Like I was telling Anna and my surrogate hubby, Mark :p ;) last night the past 3-4 weeks have been extremely difficult and scary. I have struggled a lot in the past year but the past few weeks have been the worst and I don't even really know who the person I had become was. I never ever want to go back to that dark place again. With a lot of professional help and the support and love of my son, parents, my best friend Anna and her husband Mark, my wonderful friend Norma and my soon to be ex sister-in-law, Linda (she will always be my sister) and from you,my wonderful Pet Talk Family and Friends I feel as if I am finally seeing some light and recognize how truly lucky and blessed I am to have so many wonderful and caring people in my life, real and cyber ;). I have received so many wonderful cards and gifts from so many of you and I can't thank you enough!

Recently I received a wonderful huge photo from Anna that I am going to have framed and hung on the wall. It is a group snapshot of my wonderful friends from PT and in real life from when we were last together at Anna's house. I love ya, Anna! Thank you so much for the great reminder that I have FRIENDS.

A few days ago I received a super nice gift card to Complete Petmart (which is the only place that I am able to buy picky Katie's food) from Phred, Staci, Tonya, Gini and Amy & Ralph. The same day the gift card came I received a coupon from the same store for the Eagle Pack food that I buy. So with the gift card and coupon I will be able to buy a month's supply of food or more for my girls!! OMG..you have no idea how much that means to me and my girls! Thank you all so much!!!!

Thank you for starting this thread for me Phred. Thank you to everyone who has posted with all of your caring words. You have caused me many LES moments, smiles and giggles. I read it every day and sometimes more than once so I can remember that there are lots of wonderful freinds who care about me and that I have a lot to look forward to in my future and new life. LIKE meeting all of you ;)!

One more thing! While I was in the hospital a social worker talked to me and recommended me for some kind of program for crazy displaced housewives like myself. I can't remember what the program is called. I think it is a state run program. I have my orientation on the 28th and I think I take some kind of classes and they also help find work for you. My therapist says it is a very good program. That gives me a week to still recover and make sure that I have my head on straight ;) and then I can get serious about finding a job! I'm looking forward to that new adventure and I might even take some kind of classes at our local vocational school. I just can't decide what I want to be when I grow up :p ;)

AND yes, I'm up early. I woke up coughing again. I'm so tired of this stupid cold or whatever it is but I'm not going to let it get me down!

When I'm feeling down, getting my hair done, or cut a different way, just something, seems to make me feel a little better... especially when people go out of their way to make you feel like crap. Sometimes it's hard to feel positive, and there are many days you just want to crawl back into bed, but just the fight to not do that can make the day more worthwhile.

Hi Jenn! I just want to shout out a great big Public Thanks to you. THANK YOU!! They yummy box of chocolates and candles is such a great gift. Like everyone else here I can't thank you enough. The chocolatest are so good. Especially those caramels and the fudge. YUMMY! The candles smell so good that you want to eat them too ;). Your gift box made me so happy. Just ask Staci! I did have a good time at my son's. I was thrilled that he invited me. The race turned out not so good and eventually wound up getting cancelled. No worries here though. My friend Norma, who was here for one of my darkest moments said it was so nice to see ME again. She could tell a difference with me and said it was good to see her friend again. I hate to bump this up but I was just feeling the need for that loving PT support. Need your postive vibes, need some humor and smiles.

I received my restraining order and divorce papers from Alden yesterday. Anna came to visit yesterday and I had just got the papers before she got here so I did start to read them with her but they were making me angry so I just set them aside. I should have kept reading them while she was here because I wound up getting very angry, feeling a rage come on and crying when I finally remembered I had the papers and sat down to read them last night.

They had me so upset. I know the restraining order is common practice during a divorce but it still upset me a little bit. What really got to me was the divorce papers. I was so mad and upset. I feel like it is just a bunch of lies and what little truth is in there is a completely twisted version of what he believes to be true in his head. I was just so enraged, so upset and crying like crazy. I don't like getting that way. Of course I called my parents and sobbed and yelled at them. I really really need to quit calling them. I was so upset that I woke up this morning not even remembering going to bed. I left Tori out all night and left candles burning. This is not me. I never leave candles burning and never leave my dogs out over night. I was so confused when I woke up. I don't like this feeling. It has all reminded me that this is such a long slow process and I'm so afraid of it getting the better of me. I hate all the nastiness. All the lies. I just want it over with. Why couldn't we just get a dissolution? Why did he have to turn things into something nasty? Why couldn't he just tell me the truth about that stupid woman, maybe I could have coped better if he would have just told the truth. I wish everyone knew what a huge pathetic liar he is.

For some unknown reason, when some of these men *want out*, it seems that it isn't enough to just want out, but they have a need to make it the other person's fault. Just try to realize it isn't about you, it's his problem. I know the shock, hurt, and anger you are experiencing because this is coming from your life's partner are very normal. But you have to keep your focus on your own health and well being. You have to not let your feelings spiral out of control to your own detriment as that is only making his allegations more believable. Talk your feelings out with family, friends and therapist. As for the Burning and :eek: Forgotten candles ...
* Get an egg timer - set it to *ring* every 3-5 minutes when you're burning a candle.
* Lay a hot pan pad down, then a Pyrex flat-bottomed bowl or oven dish, THEN the candle
INside the bowl or dish ... and still Stay Awake!

Couldn't have said it better!

Robin when I am facing something coming up in my life that I am dreading I try to look past it. What I mean is that, say, something is going to happen on Monday, I say to myself...."Self, :) by Tuesday you will be doing thus and so." It is a little game that I play with myself which takes the focus off the future and puts it into the past even though it hasn't happened yet. How's that for confusing? Try to get a glimpse of your future, (after the divorce), and that includes a whole new life for you! Focus on that! Some day you will look back on all of this and there will be no pain, no hurt and no anger because it will all be a distant memory and you will be in such a better place. You WILL get there! ;)

Regarding leaving Tori out, I have a confession to make too. Years ago when my dad was in the hospital my brother and I would ride down weekly to visit him. One day my brother came to pick me up and I forget to let the dogs (two toy poodles) back in. :( Thank God my next door neighbor noticed them and took them into her home that day because it went up to about 90 and there was no water outside and I was gone for hours! Every time I think of that, and it happened decades ago, I cringe!! We are human. Thankfully Tori is no worse for it.

I'm still getting the professional help but not as often as I would like I had to cut back on my sessions because it was just costing me too much money. I do have an appt coming up with the psychiatrist and then another with my therapist at the end of this month.

I had an interview with the vocational rehab counselor and things sounded so good and she was supposed to call me but I never did hear a word. For some reason I just can't bring myself to call her. I've sent out a few resumes and got one rejection letter and haven't heard from the other two. I also applied online for various jobs out at the hospital and have already received another big NO but hoping one of the other two will pay off. I need to get some kind of computer classes. I'm lackingin that dept. and I notice that everyone wants that.

I don't know if there is a 12 step group for separated people, but you could try. Or, there is Emotions Anonymous. No fees, they pass the hat, it's voluntary.

I don't know anything about them. Our local vocational school offers a course on all of these programs but of course it doesn't start again until the fall.

Microsoft has great online tutorials - free - on their Office products. I have used these and they are excellent, and at a beginner's level too!

Just use these to watch and listen for now. That's all - one at a time. There is a big list at these links, but just use the first one. Excel you might want to view the second one too.

In Canton, there's a place called Superior Staffing, which is an employment agency that offers free tutorials in all those programs. I'm not sure if they have other offices near you but, if not, you might want to check the employment agencies in your area. All you have to do is reserve a computer and the the tutorials walk you through it. Might want to give it a whirl. :)

Lotus Notes is an email program - most people know Microsoft Outlook. This is much better and more secure, alot of governments use it. I also have a course for that, just depends which version.

I to was going to suggest inquiring at a temporary staffing agency. That might also be a good way to find a permanent job that suits you.

I use Word Perfect and Quick Books and didn't have any training but just plodded through the learning curve by doing it. Probably not the quickest way to learn but these particular programs were very user friendly and if I can figure them out, well anybody can.

I don't about down there, but up here if you want to join the work force and don't have the skills or want to upgrade your skills, the government will pay for you to take courses. You may want to talk to your local Unemployment office and see what they say. Of course, afterwards they will be on your back to make sure you are looking for work but isn't that the goal anyway???
