The vet told me to keep her quiet in a separate room for 24 hours. Give her water and later on, a little food. I tried putting her in my bathroom but she went BALLISTIC!!! I mean, jumping up into the window sill, into the shower stall, ANYTHING to get away from me and out of the bathroom. I picked her up gently, whispering to her that it'll be okay. I finally relented and let her go into my room. I know she'll be okay under the bed and will get the rest she needs. I'm just worried with all that jumping and running around in the bathroom might have harmed her. I felt under her belly briefly and there was no blood and stitches were in tact.

Should I be worried???? I hope this trauma hasn't ruined all the hard work I put into her to become a normal house cat. :( I also hope I haven't hurt her in anyway. I'd be SOOO upset.

She should be fine.

The reason for the 'no jumping" is to keep the stitches from tearing and letting the wound open. you didn't see / feel any blood, it will be fine. Let her stay under the bed and come out on her own in a day or so; that would be my suggestion.

Offer her some special treat later tonight or in the morning, and she will come around to her mom again!

She was ALWAYS described as "the fiesty one." LOL!

Sandie,

I figured she'd rest more if she were in my room under the bed (her favorite place to sleep and hide) rather than in the bathroom. I love her so much and would hate to think I hurt her in anyway. I just hope this doesn't undo what I've accomplished so far.

Vega was spayed yesterday and we were told to keep her quite and to herself. Yeah right good luck. She went nuts when we put her in hubby's workshop. She was bouncing off the door and everything. So I took her out and put her in the living room with water and litter etc. She didn't want any of that either. She wanted out to play with the others. We just left her to calm on her own. Within 2 hours she had the bandage striped off the stritches. Stitches were and are perfect still. Had to break out the ecollar. That calmed her for awhile cause she couldn't run around with it on. Let me stress though 'AWHILE' she is tearing all over this morning with the ecollar on. Stitches still look perfect and nothing feels out of place or anything and no blood. So I know the feeling Donna.

Vixen was the same way. We couldn't keep her calm either...not for love nor money. She was jumping and bouncing around less than an hour after she got home. I am sure lil miz a will be just fine. Once she feels herself again she will be right back to normal and you will see all that hard work will still be intact.

((((HUGS)))) to you my friend and so scritchies for that sweet girl.

Oh Michelle, she won't even let me near her now. Before, she would come up to me and want pets. She absolutely wants nothing to do with me right now. I'm TRYING not to take it personally.

She was bouncing off the bathroom wall when she first got home. I just said $#%^& it. I opened the door and she bolted into my bedroom and under the bed. I figured she feels safe there. When I got up this morning, all I had to do is look at her and she ran. I hope this hasn't undone all I've worked for. :(

Nah, she's probably like my Creamsicle and holds a grudge but she'll come around. :)

When we had Abby spayed, they sent pain meds home with her - plus they gave her a good dose before leaving the Vet. She thought she was Wonder Woman. She felt really good (if you know what I mean) and had no pain - so the sky was the limit. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/March16th/cartwheel.gif Once the dose they gave her wore off, she got no more from us. Better she should feel a bit of discomfort and be quiet than to fly like a Wallenda!

Donna, if the stitches are intact I don't think you need to worry. Because of the pain medicine she had, she probably feels like Batman and is SO happy to be home. She may want to check everything out at home before she will settle down and relax. Leave her be under your bed where she feels safe. :) She will come around when she gets hungry. ;)

Thanks everybody. I feel like a heal right now. I know she'll come out when she's ready.

She's doing great!!! Still goes under the bed, but has been up on the bed for pets and scritches. Now I don't feel so bad. I thought for sure she was reverting back to her semi-feral state. Whew!!
