Do you know what snake is this?



My mum found this snake in the garage and I was puzzled if to let him in the countryside or not cos I feared that if it might be a pet of someone (maybe even poisinous) due to importation of these animals is nowadays very hectic. So, I'd be better to give him to someone who can take good care of him without being a danger to anyother else.

So I called this ver nice guy and send him the photos of this reptile for him to recognise. He told me its a comon snake that maybe lived in our garden and went down to the garage to hibernate. He also told me its a female, not dangerous and its the most beautiful species of the mediterranean area.

I believe there are only four species of snake native to Malta. The cat snake, leopard snake, black whip snake, and Algerian whip snake. The one you have looks like a leopard snake to me, but I'm no expert. The cat snake is poisonous, but not enough to harm a human.
