View Full Version : Snoopy is Having Testing Done - Prayers Needed

We have been treating Snoopy the last week for a Pancreatic episode. Today I took him in for a check on his phenobarbitol level and to have the vet see him as he does not seem to be getting better. The news is not good although we are not yet sure what we are dealing with. Today he took blood to check his phenobarbital level and to check for liver or kidney damage. He took a urine sample which was almost pure water which means there is very likely something wrong with his kidneys or liver or possibly diabetes. He also has a pouch of liquid around his stomach area. The tests he wants to run are quite expensive so he he is checking with the lab because he thinks we can get a better deal if we do a group of tests rather than each individually.

Tomorrow he may run x-rays, drain off the liquid to see what it is - he is pretty confident it isn't blood or he would have already done the draining and testing of the liquid. There could be a tumor but he isn't feeling one. But then again with Snoopy's girth and the liquid retention, he might not have been able to. Snoopy hasn't ate much this past week and he had gained almost 4 lbs - which is another thing telling the vet something is wrong. He told me to let Snoopy have anything he wants to eat tonight as long as it is not too salty or fatty.

So he will be calling me as soon as the tests come back tomorrow hopefully by noon and we can get a plan going. Please pray for my sick buddy!

The news on Snoopy is not good. We will be heading down to Ohio State vet lab sometime tonight - they are open until midnight. All the blood tests show there is something wrong in the area of the front part of the stomach. It could be gall bladder stones, gall bladder sludge, a tumor or a lot of other things. The only way to tell is an ultra sound - they may possibly also have to do a tap on that fluid and then depending on what it shows, he may have surgery tomorrow. Best case - it is the sludge and we treat it with expensive meds. I won't get into worse case. We need prayers and prayers and prayers. My Snoopy is a very special guy. Until he got sick with the seizures, he was so filled with joy, you see it coming out of him every time he moved.

alex has had at least 2 ultrasounds done. they did tell you they would have to shave his belly so the u/s transducer can be on the skin right? so, praying for the best, he'll need a shirt to keep his belly warm for the trip home. do you have my home number, call me if you need ANYTHING
and the students and residents there are great , they have always been very kind to me when i was stressed when alex was in osu with pneumonia 4 years ago

This is Amy. Mom had typed up a long report, but then the page couldn't be found, so we'll try this again.

WE got down here a little after 8 and got Snoopy checked in. They admitted him to the ICU tonight, where he will be monitored overnight. THey will also begin some testing...rechecking his phenobarb and potassium levels, and running a bio-enzyme test on the liver to check function. They will also start IV fluids, and do a tap to look at the fluid in his abdomen.

Tommorow the day crew will take over, when the specialist return. He will be transferred to internal medicine, where they will do an ultrasound and other neccesary tests. It may be late to mid-morning before we hear anything, but they also told us to feel free to call if we get anxious waiting.

We are camped out at a hotel nearby the hospital. Mom warned the vet and techs of Snoopy's escape tactics and insistance of chewing through IV lines, leashes, collars, and anything else they may be using to keep him there. I'm sure he will keep them on their toes tonight!

Please keep the prayers coming. Snoopy sure can use them.

Sorta GOOD NEWS on Snoopy!! ;)
Just talked to "Mom" at 2:00 pm ...

She & Amy are doing the *wait* thing - the Docs are promising a 2:30 Meeting
to go over the test results and present a Treatment Plan.

The preliminary "word" that was sent out is that this inflammation isn't "as bad"
as they feared it was - the fluid build-up doesn't test as "bad stuff" -
and it may all be treatable with just a change of medications. :)

The Docs want to wean him OFF the Pheno-barb stuff - that's what's making hin
a staggering drunk ... a med change might clear up a lot of his problems.

For right now - there's NO Plan for Sir Jury :) :) -
possible exception - a liver biopsy --- to be decided soon.

There's a good possibility all THREE of 'em will be headed back Home together!

THANKS, God!!

Note: Please keep the Prayers coming - Snoop's not quite "Fixed" yet!

:(
:(

Mom called a while ago as we were steppin out ... sorry this is delayed a bit.

The overall diagnosis has changed - and not for the good. :(

Seems poor Snoopy has some serious liver damage.
The liver biopsy, costing an outrageous $2,000.00 - couldn't be performed till next Tuesday -
why so long a wait I don't know. But the kicker to that is the Docs don't know if the biopsy
would really tell them anything.

Last word I heard on The Plan for Snoop was that he'd stop taking the Pheno-barb stuff
and replace that with a less damaging to his liver drug - with "neat" side effects:
* possibility of explosive diarrhea
* more sleepiness
* BUTT - he'll be able to walk in a straight line again ;)

If all went well, Mom and Amy have signed him out and by now they're all headed North for Home.

Sooooo ... it's been good news that there's no Sir Jury required ...
Not so good news thaa "cure" prolly isn't gonna happen.

Snoopy needs a LOT more PT Prayers for Health & Happiness.

just talked with Amy and she had just dropped Diana and Snoopy in Findlay and on her way home to Toledo.
She pretty much repeated what Phred had typed.
He is just have a check in about a month with bloodwork.
They all still need prayers!

4 Dog Mother
01-18-2008, 08:11 PM
Well, Snoopers and I are home and Amy is on her way back to Toledo and Ralph and her puppers. I am pretty sure she will be giving all her puppers big hugs when she gets home!

It was quite a roller coaster ride down there. Last night two students and a doctor saw Snoopy and while I was under the impression that we hurried on down there to do the tap and the ultrasound they informed me they were just planning on monitoring him - which kind of made me mad because it is not cheap to keep a dog in ICU overnight in a medical school hospital. Today a different student and doctor saw him and so we got conflicting opinions occasionally. I think are student is a little more optimistic in general than the doctor - she tried to tell us that it was because the doctor was more experienced but I have a feeling that this doctor goes with the worst case scenerio which may be good because obviously if your dog does better, you are happier. Anyway, we found out late in the day that they did do a tap last night and found that the fluid he is holding in his abdomen is from the cells leaking protein becuase the liver is damaged enough not to process so that does not happen.

The student said that they expected to see a very damaged liver but it looked as if only a part of it was damaged and the rest looked okay. She saw that as a positive sign that the changing of the meds would solve most of Snoopy's problems. But the doctor says the ultrasound isn't always accurate and although it looks good, it may not be. And the only way we will know how damaged it is and what is definitely causing the damage is an ultrasound. As Phred said they can't do the ultrasound until next Tuesday and that would cost $2000 - that is added to the $1400 vet visit we had today. And the biopsy may only show that what we have decided to do is the best plan anyway.

The only medication that they can change him to from phenobarbital is Keppra - the bad news it will cost $6.00 a day. We will be weaning him off the the phenabarbitol very, very slowly to decrease the chance of his starting more frequent seizures. He will be staying on the potassium bromide.

"Snoopy's incoordination and "drunkenness" may be a side effect of his anti-seizure medications, or it may be secondary to a process called hepatic encephalopathy. This occurs when ammonia builds up in the body due to a decrease in liver function and affects the brain causing a change in mental status. WE are starting Snoopy on several medications (Amoxicillin and lactulose) to help support his liver function. These medications decrease the toxic ammonia that builds up when the liver is not functioning. A low protein diet will also help decrease the ammonia that builds up in the body."

So we are now also adding other meds and changing foods which they fear may also make him have more seizures. One of the meds given in the dose the dr.wanted would have also cost us $6.00 a day! (I love Snoopy very, very much but there is no way I can afford close to $500 a month on meds and food. Plus the lactulose is the one that can cause the explosive diahrea ( it is also the one that would cost the other $200 a month.)

With two small children and 8 other dogs in the house, increased seizures and explosive diahrea will be most lilkely more than we can handle. And it does nothing for Snoopy's quality of life as more frequent seizures leads to even more frequent seizures. Some tough - almost impossible - decisions may be ahead for us.

So what we have decided is to take it day by day, week by week. I have paid for the first month's meds and we will be on a wait and see plan. How much it helps, how Snoopy handles it, how much stress it adds to our household, etc. If we can find some hidden stash of cash that can aid in his meds. (you know buried treasure or an antique thats worth millions or a lottery ticket by the way we never buy).

So that is where we are. Please pray for out big guy - the next weeks could be very difficult on him.

Amy, Snoopy is on 500 mg tablets of Keppra twice aday. The price doesn't seem to be much different in Canada.

I waited to start the meds this morning. I just would prefer that I was monitoring him for the first time. So far he is acting very drugged and drinking and peeing ALOT. In fact twice so far he has not been able to make it out. He has eaten a little but mostly just the canned new food which is just a small percentage of what he is suppose to get. He is very unsteady on his feet. Actually at this point, he can barely walk without falling all over. All this is very sad to see such a vital, active dog at this point. And of course, he wants to be with me constantly - if I go to another room, so does he. With the kids and all the dogs here it is very hard to stay in one spot very long. Poor, poor Snoopy!

:( :( :( (((Big Hugs))) to you! My RB dog, Ashley, was on Phenobarb for years for her seizures. She ultimately succumbed to "liver issues" most likely as a result of her years on Phenobarb. The medication had controlled her seizures 100% and allowed her to live a good life and for that I am grateful. Her liver was extremely enlarged on x-ray and I chose to not go further (biopsy). She was 14 years old and had lived a wonderful life. I just want you to know that, no matter whatever choices you need to make in the days ahead, you have all of our love and support.

I have to say I work with good people...everyone here was definatly more concerned about the Snoopy then the fact that I took off work on Friday. Even one of my clients would ask questions abut her project, but then she would change the topic back to Snoopy and how he was doing.

Hope things are going well and that Snoopy is doing okay. Did you take him off the phenobarb yet, or are you waiting until this weekend?

I am not sure how Snoopy is doing. He sleeps most of the time, gets up drinks water, goes out to pee and begins the cycle again. It is very hard to get him to eat and I would say he is eating a 1/4 of what he should be. His belly is still full of fluid but he does not seem to be as clumsy as he was.

In reference to what Amy said about taking him off phenabarbital. My vet's office has been wonderful. They called on Saturday to see how Snoops and I were doing. I told the vet tech what medicine they had put him on and asked if they could do some research for me. She said sure - that they were there to support us in anything we needed. A couple hours later one of the vets called - the vet that normally handles Snoopy is away at a conference so Dr. James called and was so very nice. She had looked up Keppra and said that what she found indicated it worked better given 3 times a day - so we worked out a schedule for that. I told her how out of it Snoopy was - poor guy could barely walk with both medications in him. The research she had done told her that Keppra begins working right away so she felt we should take Snoopy off Phenabarbital immediately and also the Potassium Bromide because it also is hard on the liver. So his last dose of those meds was Sunday morning. He is still sleeping alot, still drinking and peeing and still not eating much but he is much more alert and not so clumsy. He has been able to jump up on things without losing his balance and falling backward or off even.

Giving him the Keppra 3 times a day is obviously going to depete our month's supply quicker but in the meantime, the vet's office is going to look at other alternatives that maybe won't cost as much. I feel very lucky that this vet and his partner took over this practice about 2 years ago. The last vet was very good but I don't think she would have gone to the extra effort they are to find a way to help.

So for now Snoopy is holding his own. He is a very different dog - so subdued, quiet, and sleepy. Those who have met Snoopy would not think it was the same dog. We had company last night and he did not even pay any attention to them - all he wanted was me to be near him. It is very, very sad to see Snoopy brought so low. I just hope we can get the old Snoopy back.

Snoopy had a seizure about 1:30 am this morning. He was asleep in his crate and Christy heard him whining. It was a grand mal (which means he loses control of his bodily functions) but I don't know how long it lasted. I am guess not too long because the other dogs didn't start to bark. I gave him valium and he laid down on the couch with me and slept for awhile. Then he got up to get a drink but was acting "drunk" falling all over everything. All of a sudden he collapsed and couldn't get up again. He crawled around on the floor trying to get up. I got Carl up and we were able to get a blanket under him and carried him to our living room on his makeshift carrier. I laid down beside him and we slept like that until Carl got up to go to work at 5:00 am. It was so sad, he and I shared a pillow and he seemed to keep getting closer so are faces were right there together. Of course, I didn't fall asleep right away. I cried and cried to see my boy so sad and so sick. He just loves me so much and trusts me so much and it is so humbling.

He seems okay this morning. I called the vets office and the vet talked to me and said to just keep an eye on him and I can give him valium again to hopefully stave off another seizure. Christy is at home with him so I am not sure she wants to do that after I described what happened last night- the vet feels it may have been too much sedation and he was too out of it to walk. I am still have a very difficult time getting him to eat. I poured low sodium chicken noodle soup over his food last night because it was lower in sodium than the low sodium chicken broth. It did not make an impression at all - he ate 2 or 3 bites and that was it. That is probably why the medication sedates him so bad because they can't be much inhis stomach.

So keep praying for me and my boy - we both need it!!!!

Thank each and everyone of you to responding to this thread and caring about my poor Snoopy. He seems to be doing a little better today - walking better, and so far no more seizures. I added a little minced up left over meatloaf to his food tonight - nothing else has seemed to help - and he actually ate a little more than he has been. The Vet said that the phenobarbital made him so hungry that he probably doesn't recognize this less degree oif hunger - and of course all the fluid on his belly doesn't help either.

Joyce, I am sorry to hear that Alex had a seizure last night too. It is so scary to seem them in one. Good thoughts coming to you and Alex.

We got through with another good night! His eyes look so much clearer than they have in a long time (not so drugged) and he is able to jump with a lot less wobbliness. But we are still having a terrible time getting him to eat. I put hamburger on his food last night and he ate very little of it last night. Since I am off for the weekend now - I will have a lot more time to work with him and trying to find something to tempt him. We really have to find a way to get him eating - poor boy.

The vet from the OSU vet hospital called yesterday while I was at work to check up on Snoopy. Christy said she planned on calling our vet also.

Snoopy had another good night and a good day too. Now that he doesn't have to eat dog food he is doing better. The vets have decided he needs high protein so pasta noodles is what he is eating today along with some very lean hamburger. He's taking an anti-nausea medicine about 45 minutes before he eats and he keeps most of it down. A little bit seems to come up most meals but I guess we have to take the bad with the good. Most of it is staying down! He is a little livelier each day which just makes us so happy. He still has the fluid build up but the vets said that would take some time to go away. You can tell he is feeling better though and that is just awesome.

Monday morning and nothing but good news to report. Snoopy is just doing great. He seems to be keeping his food down better each time he eats. He is livilier than he has been in a long time - but bad news comes with that too - he has remembered how to bark. During the last couple of weeks he has hardly barked because he just didn't care. This morning Christy came back from taking Jasmine to school and there was Snoopy in the middle of th pack and barking. Good to see he feels up to it - but bad that he thinks he HAS to be a part of it.

We went to Toledo for a while yesterday to take Amy out to eat for her birthday (this Wednesday) and although we were only gone a few hours, he had diarhea in his crate while we were gone. The dr. had wanted to give him about 2/3 more of the amount of medicine that he is getting to rid his body of some of the toxins that have built up but because of the price and the explosive diahrea that often comes with it, she cut it back. THANK GOD! Having seen this in action, I REALLY wouldn't have wanted to see what 2/3 more would have done. His mind and body (the stumbling, etc.) is doing so much better that I have reduced it again and am thinking about discontinuing it altogether. I will be talking to the vets office later so I will ask their advice in this matter too. He was suppose to take it for only another week anyways.

Again I thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I was sure Snoopy wasn't going to make it through this and he is doing so well, that I know that the help of PT is what has brought him through. Thanks again.

Up and down the roller coaster goes! Snoopy had another seizure last night. There was a miscommunication on my daughter's and my part as to who was to give him his mid day meds and he didn't get them. The half life of his medicine is so small that if he goes without one dose, he will have a seizure. But there is no place for us to go but ahead - he can't go back to phenabarbital and potassium bromide because it will continue to destroy his liver.

The seizure was a grand mal which means he lost control of his bodily functions and when I realized what happened at 3:30 am, he needed a bath and his crate needed a total cleaning. He had to go out and we had freezing rain yesterday, so he went spread eagled on the sidewalk and couldn't get back up. I called for Carl but was able to manage to push him up the steps and in the door. He gets very restless after a seizure and doesn't know what he wants but whines and barks a lot.

Last night I had talked to Dr. James to figure out what I should be feeding him and also about what to do because we only have 8 days of meds left. It is cheaper to buy the Keppra in Canada but I found it takes 2-3 weeks to get it - again I only have 8 days left. The Pharmacies here want between $$174 - $241 for a 20 day supply which should give me time to get a supply from Canada. I was suppose to get the prescription this morning to fax to Canada before we knew how long it would take. After his seizure this morning, I went down to pick up that prescription, see if they could call one in to a pharmacy here and get Tucker weighed so I can figure out when to get him neutered. Dr. Freeman (the original vet who helped to get Snoopy through some of his earlier problems but who was gone to a continuing ed program when Snoopy got sick this time) came out of one appointment and was headed to another when the receptionist asked him if he could call the prescription in. That started a rather frank talk between he and I that has left me very depressed and sad.

Basically he told me we did everything right when we went to Ohio State and refused to have the biopsy done. The ultrasound showed what we wanted to know and to do the biopsy would not tell us enough to make it worth the cost. The treatment would be the same. He said that we need to enjoy every day we have with Snoopy - he can't tell us whether he will live another year or another 5 but he will will not have a full life span. It is not if but when will have to euthanize him. And he is afraid that I will wait too long for Snoopy's good because he doesn't think I can let Snoopy go. I can't look at it that Snoopy just has seizures. He has liver damage, chronic pancreatitis and hyperlipidemia (build up of fat in blood). The ways of dealing with the liver damage and the other two are at opposite extremes of the spectrum. While we are now treating for the liver issue, it could easily be the impetus to have a pancreatic attack to come on or to have the fat build up and cause more seizures. If we go the other route and treat for the other two than we don't get his liver back under control and the fluid on his stomach does not go away. We are between a rock and a hard place - even his diet will be different in each case. In other words, our decision is just a matter of time, and I could tell that he doesn't think Snoopy will make it another year.

So continue to pray for us - for Snoopy that he has a ittle longer - Carl says he would like him to live long enough that the weather will get a little better and we can take him to the dog park a couple of times to let him run and run and run. And pray for me - that I do know when the time is right and don't keep him alive for my sake not his. My heart is breaking....

I love you Snoopy, boy!

Hang in there, Mom ~ We're not done sending PT Prayers yet!

Some Ideas:

1) Run over to WalMart and find a "Pill Minder" box that stores enough pills for a whole week -
they make 'em in "once-a-day" (single pocket X 7) or "twice-a-day" (TWO pockets X 7).

You load an entre week's worth of meds on Sunday and then just look at the Pill Minder to determine
if the morning and/or evening pills have been taken. He'll never get a double-dose;
and it should be easy for a couple of the pill popper folks to look at the Pill Minder
to be sure he got a dose.

2) How about sending Amy or Kimmy, or someone else living close to a Canadian Border crossing point, over into Canada to pick up Snoop's Meds?
Is it "illegal" to cary those meds across the Border?
Don't do it if it's "illegal" --- but the older 2-Leggers go to Canada all the time to
bring back human prescriptions.

Also - remember to carry your Birth Cetrificate with you to get back into the USA!

Give the Snoopers a big {{{Hug}}}!

You are truly between a rock and a hard place with how to treat your poor boy. Your vet sounds like he is a straight shooter and some of what he said had to be hard to hear. Many of us here have been in your shoes and have watched a beloved pet become sicker and sicker and so we can totally understand. (((Hugs))) for you and Snoopy and your entire family. I hope that your hubby gets his wish and Snoopy can have some fun in the spring at the dog park.

Diana, I think Pam said it so well. This is heartbreaking news. :(
I remember when my vet had a long talk with me about Buddy. How after
many surgeries, there was nothing that could be done short of "new hips"
that would ever make him a happy dog again. It was the hardest fact to
finally face & deal with. ( still deal with it today)

I will pray that you & Snoopy will have more happy days where he can
run around the dog park & enjoy the sunshine with his family. Please God.

Big (((Hugs))) for you & Snoopy.Liz.

I had to take Snoopy into the vets last night. The fluid is starting to build up again around his stomach. And he is eating less again which only makes sense with that big bulge of fluid pushing on his stomach. Since it doesn't seem to be affecting his breathing and because it would just build back up again quickly, Dr. James decided not to drain it. She and I talked some more about "when" and she said she thinks Snoopy is uncomfortable right now but not in pain and there was still a few things we could do to help his liver heal and give him more time - but she also said that anytime we decided financially, emotionally, physically we felt we couldn't handle it, they wouldn't say no to our letting him go. And obviously when we thought Snoopy had had enough.

Anyway she prescribed a new medicine which is basically a diuretic. They were holding off because he already drinks a lot of water and pees a lot. This will probably increase that but it could really give the liver more of a chance to heal. Keep those prayers acoming!

Some of us have contributed to other FurKid Funds in the past ... I'd like to think that
a few of us will find it possible to chip in a buck or two towards Snoopy's Vet Bills.
No hard sell here; no threats that "he's gonnna die if you don't contribute" ...
just a heartfelt request that you Help with a donation IF YOU CAN. http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/smile.gif

It's pretty easy to get your donation to where it's needed ...
SORRY - but the Clinic is NOT staffed to where they can accept PayPal contributions ...
BUT they will gladly accept USA Checks, Money Orders, "Checks by Phone",
and Credit/Debit Cards over the phone.
(Non-USA CHECKS will be a problem - it's very costly for them to deposit Canadian or European checks. Please PM daughter Amy ( Cincy'sMom ) for non-USA donations - she
can accept foreign donations via PayPal.)

Telephone or Mail your donations directly to:
Blanchard Valley Veterinary Clinic
1930 N Main Street
Findlay OH 45840

Telephone: (419) 422-3292 ... Hours: M-F 8:30am - 5:30pm; Sat 9:00 -11:00am

Make checks payable to "Blanchard Valley Vet Clinic",
mark the Memo line: "for Snoopy Kuhn Fund".

"Check by Phone" or Credit/Debit Cards - talk to the gal who answers the phone -
the Receptionist knows EXACTLY how to run the transactions and credit the
Kuhn Family account.

("Check by Phone" is easy - just have a check handy to give her your Bank's 'Routing Number' and your 'Account Number' - the long numbers pre-printed across the bottom of each check; Name, Address, and Amount. You'll get a 'generic' looking check processed on your bank statement - NO siggy required. http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif )

(IF you 'need' to use PayPal - contact Amy (Cincy'sMom) for instructions and an e-mail address.)

Please keep the prayers coming for Snoppy. My parents went to Cincinnati this week for a mini-vacation, to stay at Christy's house. They don't have internet access there, but Snoopy and Tucker are with them (Christy is at their house with the rest of the dogs).

Anyway, since they have been down there Saturday, Snoopy has had 2 seizures. They are afraid the food he is on to help his liver is increasing the fat in his blood and causing the seizures. Hopefully this cluster will end soon, but it really makes it hard to know what to feed the poor boy!

She did say Snoopy and Tucker really seem to be having a good time playing together and she has gotten some cute pictures of them snuggling too. I'm sure she will share when they get back later this week.

We've only been back for a short time but I missed Pet Talk so much that I had to get on quick to see what was going on - don't think I will get too far cause Christy's getting the kids ready for bed and Jasmine is begging me to read to her tonight. Guess this Grandma is good for something!

Snoopy hasn't had any more seizures since those two. It is so hard not knowing what causes them. It could have been just being in a different place - or it could be his food - or since Christy has been working really hard at cleaning the house - it could be something he licked. Anyways he is doing better although he hasn't eaten very well. Since there were no other dogs to interupt their play or maybe there was no other dog for Tucker to play with - they played pretty well together. Believe it or not, Tucker was rougher with Snoopy than Snoopy was with him and we would have to call the play off because he was biting at Snoopy's ears so much. It was funny to see Tucker chasing Snoopy around the furniture - I've got some good pictures which I will try to post tomorrow.

Our time away was good - we just needed a break from our jobs and to be honest all the dogs and kids. Carl had to take his vacation this month and since our vacation went to Snoopy's care the last few weeks, we opted to go to Cincinnati. We went shopping (I love the used book stores down there), ate out, chilled out just enjoying no schedule times (except for Snoops meds). Unfortunately Snoopy didn't sleep very well and so neither did we.
But there were time for naps and just "being". Well the kids are running around like crazy so I better go get reading those bed time stories.

Snoopy is looking so much better than he was - I will have to get a picture of his stomach area to see how much it has gone down and how much weight he has lost (which is a good thing for him - he was slightly overweight). He did have a seizure on Wednesday morning about 4 am. We did not hear it - I think I am going to get a baby monitor for next to his crate. Anyway it was a grand mal and he had torn one of his front toe nails all the way out. (he did that to a back one a couple of years ago and it took a long time growing back and came in crooked) All this tells us exactly how critical it is not to miss a dose of Keppra by more than 2 hours or so. With the kids and Crhisty having strep she forgot his 1:00 pill and I didn't ask until about 5:30 if he had had it.

For all who have sent money to help with Snoopy's bills, I have to again say a big thank you. He now has to take another medicine for the rest of his life to aid in supporting the liver which is fairly expensive too. It is such a joy though to see him acting like the dog he was before the seizures - the other morning we woke to about 2 inches of snow and he just went bounding across the yard - what a beautiful sight! Thanks again for giving us more time with our Snoopy. Diana

Sorry about you missing that one seizure :( It must be so hard not knowing what will cause them or know when they're coming. I'm so happy that he's becoming the dog you once knew. We'd love to see pics an even a video, if you can, of him playing and happy. I hope he continues to thrive. When I can get in better shape financially, I'd love to contribute some.
