Hi! I'm a newbie but had to share my excitement with someone! LOL It's not actually ME who adopted a new kitty but I went and picked one out for my mother-in-law. She is 80 and lives alone and I put the idea in her head that she'd be a lot less lonely with a furball to cuddle up with! So, we went today and applied for this kitty! When MIL picked her up, she just snuggled right into her arms and started purring. :)

She's been approved and we get to go pick her up tomorrow! I can hardly wait! It's the next best thing to getting my own new kitty! :D

I clicked to enlarge the photos...what a sweetie! Such a handsome boy!
I wonder if he got his name because he is "sprinkled' with different colours? Is your MIL going to give him a different name?
He sounds like a total lovebug! Your MIL is in for major lap and cuddle time! :D

Sprinkles is actually a little girl and I think MIL is going to keep the name...it does seem to fit her. :)

Oooh, she is so fluffy and pretty! You will have to visit OFTEN, WITH the camera, to let us see how she is doing. Nice choice!

Very pretty cat, I'm sure your MIL will love her. :D
Unrelated side note here....
I don't care for the terms of adoption from this place. If I went in there, despite the fact I work for a vet, all my pets are spayed/neutered, and all up to date on all vaccinations, they wouldn't allow me to adopt a cat????
"We now require proof of home-ownership due to some landlords not allowing pets."
What's wrong with getting a signed note from the landlord? Why should all renters be deprived of adopting a cat because of a few landlords? Why should the cats be deprived of a good home because of a few landlords?
Sorry personal rant there, I'll get off my soapbox now. ;)

Congratulations to you and to MIL and to Sprinkles! YaY.
I just wish they would have wiped her eye boogers off before taking her picture. I'm so anti eye booger! LOL
Hope all works out for everyone.

That's actually NOT their adoption policy and I told them they should change the way they have it worded on the web site then! They said it just means that IF you own your home, they require proof of ownership. Apparently they had several adopters SAYING they owned their home so they could adopt because they KNEW their landlord didn't allow pets. However, you can adopt if you're a renter as long as they can verify that you do have the landlords permission to have the pet you're adopting.
This particular shelter is not the one in my county and quite frankly, it's very poorly organized! I called to ask about Sprinkles over a week ago and was told she had been adopted out already. :( So, then I go TO the shelter to look at the homeless babies and lo and behold, there she is! GGRRR!!! They also have a really nice girl named Sally and their description of her makes her sound like a crabby whench and she's NOT at all! I walked over, picked her up and she melted into my arms and started purring! The web site also does NOT indicate that she IS spayed AND declawed! Geez....maybe she'd get a home faster if people KNEW that! I could go on and on but I won't bore you. :)

It does sound like they are a bit disorganized. I do agree the wording on their site needs to be changed. I'm sure it doesn't help when they are dealing with people trying to adopt when they already know the landlord won't approve. It's people like that messing things up for everyone, and those are the kind that end up putting cats in shelters because they didn't get permission first or at least follow their leases. grrrr
