I opened up a box of CHEERIOS and there it was. A die cast #43 car....I gave it away. It would look cheesy next to my #6 model and #3 remote control cars.
And You didn't give it to me? Somehow I missed out on the ceral box promotion and I can't get my sister's kids to giv eup their cars for me! Oh well, I do have a #43 with Spider-Man on the hood!

How do you stop JGR in the Nationwide race? Put Kyle in another car!!
And what was Denny doing pounding the 88? I guess Brad sorta started it....but man! Who thought Tony would be the calm, quiet memeber of JGR?
Exciting finish to the truck race today too!

Sweeeeeeeeeeet! I was watching on TV and RaceView. RaceView is about a lap and a half ahead of tv. I saw Kasey take the lead and didn't know what happened to Tony. Guess it was a good thing they took those 2 right side tires on that previous pit stop. YAY Kenny Francis!!

The end of the Nationwide race looked like shore leave with all the 'Navy' shirts running around.;)
--------
What is it with Danica Patrick and her wanting to mix it up with the boys?
She can run with them but my money is on the boys when it comes to boxing. There is a saying that goes, "She's looking for three legs on the cat, but will find four."
And I guarantee that the day she does go and grab at another driver, and gets her beel rung, she'll blame it on the guys and how they don't respect her.
If you walk into a fight and get your arse kicked, get a mirror and start blaming away!

KK, congrats.........:p

I only got to see lately was the Coca Cola one.
where my favorite Kasey Kahne won.
though the ending was SO crazy!
people were taking lead then they all had to take a pit stop.
then kasey raced back up to the front.
luckily he got up there.

Well, my crew got in at 2:00 am. They had a great time! Tony did win so they were all happy! I think they said 23,000 people were there this time - that's a lot of people! I guess things were touch and go for awhile - at noon they were talking about cancelling and then at 1:00 they decided it was a go! Mark, Anna and Staci ate the hamburgers and stuff at home since it was still raining in Piqua so the tailgate party was a bust! Ralph, Amy and Carl bought food at the track. Hmmmm, Amy made a bunch of cookies to take - I wonder what happened to them - they were really awesome - one was a coconut, pecan one. Oh, you probably wanted to know more about the race but that's about all I can tell you. Amy and Ralph spent the rest of the night with us - they had brought the dogs to spend time with us so they wouldn't be home so long alone - although I think her 3 thought it more of a punishment with 2 kids and that dumb little animal (Tucker) chasing them around.
I believe they said it didn't rain anymore after 1:00 pm. Carl got a kick out of the fact that Tony Stewart was on a tractor trying to get the track ready and later a truck. Didn't think to ask how many pictures they took. Guess someone will get on after they wake up to post more.

Another awesome Eldora race!!! Yeah it is grea to see Tony win, but that is just an added bonus! I just love watching them run on the dirt, the way they slide around the track is awesome!!! And see jeff Gordon wreck wasn't such a bad things either ;)
I'm uploading pictures now. I was surpirsed to see had over 250!!!

So, I was uploading the pictures from Eldora, and went to check email while I was waiting. I had an email from a local radio station that I won tickets to Pinks All Out to be run in Norwalk,Ohio on Saturday. I'll be going to Cedar Point that day, so I can't use them, but we'll find someone. And if not, I'll taake the tickts along and maybe make a short drive down To Norwalk (not too far from Sandusky) and catch the finals.
So, enter those online contents! People do win (more then once even!)
Anyway, here (http://labsnspots.shutterfly.com?a=1) are the pictures from Eldora

Why did they run the race on pay per view?
That really sucks.
The money from the Pay-per view goes to charity...the Victory Junction Gang, Austism and the Tony Stewart Foundation. Last year the total was $800K. The goal for this year was 1 million to start a 2nd camp in KC, so it was more accesible to kids in the middle of the country and on the west coast.
Lat year a few weeks after the event they did start running it on Speed. I am hoping for the same this year. I LOVE being at the race, but you do miss some things, and the pit reporting that you get in the coverage. I want it all!!!

Mark, Anna and Staci ate the hamburgers and stuff at home since it was still raining in Piqua so the tailgate party was a bust! Ralph, Amy and Carl bought food at the track.
I'm sorry guys, but if you would have seen all the rain we got here (our front and back yard were flooded) you would have stayed home too! We were afraid we'd get there and sink up in the mud. And hey, we did call and tell you to come here to eat;) We all really missed the tailgaiting, it's one of my favorite parts of the race.
We were super happy that they didn't call the race off. By the way it looked here in Piqua, we were sure they would. So glad to get there and see the track wasn't under water!
We had a blast! Well except when we first got there and there was poo right under my seat:eek:
Didn't think I was going to have to clean any of that up at the track!
And Amy...we were happy...see:D:p (Well at least mom and I were!)

Totally understand!! We have been quiet lucky up in Toledo the past week. Not nearly the rain and storms that have been going through EVERYWHERE south of us! I guess there was just never a doubt in my mind they would race!
Hearing all the talk at the track and reading the reports later they were really close to canceling...even after we were on the road. I never her thought to check the website before we left, because I knew the skies would clear and it would happen. (And yes, those "definite" feelings have bit me the butt before! Anna, I didn't mean anything by what I posted. It was just weird the different perspectives the crew up here got with the weather having cleared up versus the ones you guys had seeing all the rain. And you do notice that I don't go to these things, chance of rain, noise, dirt (possibly mud) aren't really my things. We used to go tent camping when the kids were small and nothing was more upsetting than getting all that stuff together and then have it rain. I think the last two times we went we were rained out. The kids used to sleep in separate tents with their friends. No rain was expected but an unexpected storm hit - the girls didn't get their windows closed so everything got soaked! The other time it rained so hard that there was a small (very small) river flowing through our campsite! No not wanting to get all that stuff together and not getting to use it would have definitely been my call too!

I'm usually the same way too :) but I do have fun watching the big boys on the little dirt track -
:)
And It was raining at my house - my parents house to drop Keegan off - my way to Lima - and most of the way to Piqua. I did notice it was clear in the north and thought to myself (too bad I'm not going THAT way!) And while we were sitting at Anna's house while they went to get their van, I looked out and it looked like someone was standing on their roof pouring buckets of rain into the puddles!! Heck - I was just along for the ride regardless of what happened. My philosophy was - I was off work, I was with friends, and I could at least play with the dogs!!

He was caught speeding out of the pits on the last stop. I think the speed limit was 55 and they give you a 5 mph cushion. He was clocked at 60.38 I think it was at the last line leaving the pits.

I don't remember Jr speeding. Biffle and Tony both were caught on that last set of stops though. Kenny told Kasey to make sure to slow down below what he'd been going because of that. Thankfully he had a 10 second lead and could afford to do that.

True. Although it does have to help a little for Bobby to have his contract resolved and not have to worry where he will be driving next year...
Ralph just called me. He is up in Michigan this week for some training at Chrysler Headquarters. He was sitting in his hotel room and saw something large and orange drive by his window. He went outside to check it out and was by Tony's hauler when he called. Seems a little out of the way for the race, so it may be a show car, but he was going to call back and let me know what is going on....

I'm pretending it didn't happen. LOL I would say that I was glad so that I won't have to listen to the complaints on Sirius anymore. But we all know they'll just start talking about something else Jr related. LOL Like the fact that he passed the pace car. Sheesh. I don't hate Jr, just having to hear about him all the time.
I'm much happier about the second place finisher. ;)
Glad you had a good time. Looking forward to pictures.

My brother and his family are back in Michigan visiting my SIL's family. As a father's day gift to my brother they were going to go tour the racetrack (not sure which one). When they got into town someone asked if they were there for the race. What race?!?! Then they found out the race was there today. So they immediately got tickets. I can't believe they didn't know it was there before they went. What ever. LOL

Reports are that he looked down at his fire suit and noticed that he wasn't racing for the M&M team.

Here comes the number 21 car into the pits, he just passed the SUNOCO FUEL sign...he's in, the SUNOCO FUEL gasman has filled the car with the first SUNOCO FUEL can and there goes the second SUNOCO FUEL can. IT looks like they spilled some SUNOCO FUEL in the pit box. I wonder if that SUNOCO FUEL is enough to get them to the finish. Those fuel cells hold 20 gallons of SUNOCO FUEL...

Tony Stewart has been granted his release from his current contract.
He'll go to Haas Racing next year.
-----------
I really hate this kind of wheeling (pun intended) and dealing during the season.
It's kinda like telling a kid that his grad present is a trip to Hawaii no matter how he finishes the school year. I think that it crushes any desire for them to do well until the end of the semester.:(
So what keeps a driver interested? The Mark Martin contract might be a little different. Any races he runs in this season are practice for him. He looks forward to next year with a reason. Do you think that TS will just 'play out the string' this year?
The deal is said to make TS the highest paid driver in NASCAR.

Depsite the fact I think Tony is making a big mistake, he will still be my #1 Driver. I will still root for JGR (at least Denny and Joey!)
I understand the long term planning and working for his future...he isn't going to drive forever. But I think Dale did it right when he kept his driving and business separate. Buy the team, plan for the future, but keep racing where someone else can worry about the details. Robby Gordon is probablly the most successful as a driver driving his own equipment currently...and that isn't saying a whole lot! Michael Waltrip hasn't had much luck yet. Even Kevin Harvick coming down and running his own car in Nationwide has struggled.
As for the rest of this year, I think the top 13 have the best shot at making the chase. I predict 1 of 2 things. First, since the news is out, and the deal is done, Tony will have more focus on the track and will make the chase, with Biffle being the odd man out (Poor guy can't buy a break this year!). Or, he will have less focus, be ready to move on and he will be the odd man out.
Personally, I hope Tony makes the chase. I think this is his last chance at a title. Without the Gibbs organization behind him, he will struggle....even with Hendrick power.

There is no word as to his number. Hass currently runs the 66 and 70. Rumors have also said he may try to get 14, AJ Foyt's old number, which is available. The 20 and Home Depot will both stay with JGR. Tony's sponsors will be (according to the rumors) Office Depot and Old Spice.

Can I tell you what a awesome time I had this weekend? Okay, so Carl won again, and if that keeps happening I may have to stop taking Ralph ( Dale Jr. won when I went without him in June)....but still.
The garage tour was very cool. We went through the tunnel into victory lane, and just as we were walking across pit Road, here comes Tony and Ryan out of their press conference fora photo op for the media. I was 5 feet away!
I got several autographs ( Michael Waltrip, Brian Vickers, David Regan, Regan Smith, Brad Coleman, Scott Riggs, Michael McDowell, Dale Jr, Tony Eury Jr.) and lots pictures of the drivers. Aw, Amy doesn't anyone like you anymore? Or is it just Nascar that everyone is tired of? I am glad you had a good time on Friday - and glad I could help you find your way home. I know yesterday was a lot of fun for everyone - well, everyone that went to the race that is. It was very nice of you and Christy to pay the extra so your dad (and you) could get the pit pass. (I have to tell you I had no idea what that was until Christy told me). Your dad seemed pretty excited except in the fact that Tony didn't win. It was hard to tell him apart from the Tony Stewart thing whatever it was.
I downloaded the pictures to my computer last night but I was just too tired to do anything with them after that. Of course the ones Christy took was mostly of the people and things in the pit area (I guess). or that is what it looked like to me.
I am sure if you went to Julia's you could download ( and upload them to shutterfly and probably burn a disc so you could take them home ready for your new computer). And if you know what you are wanting in a computer she can probably get that done for you too. That way you could meet her new kitty Harley.
Christy was very excited about the race also. I now know without a doubt where Jasmine gets her talkativeness from. She even followed me to the bedroom to keep telling me of the things she saw etc.

So, I'll open the can of worms...
What's the deal with the magnets on the throttle pedals on the JGR Nationwide cars?
No idea....I can understand that they are probablly frustrated that they have put together a great engine package, and NASCAR keeps trying to take horsepower away. So they work to get it back, and NASCAR wants to check again, and maybe take away more?
The magnets would keep the throttle from opening all the way and "hide" some of the horsepower they have gotten back. Bad decision!!!! It will be interseting to see who was behind it (if they ever say) and what happens to them.
RICHARD
08-19-2008, 03:44 PM
What's the deal with the magnets on the throttle pedals on the JGR Nationwide cars?
NASCAR put out a statement saying that the magnets were from the little suction-cup compasses that were mounted on the windshields of the JGR cars.
Apparently, the pit crews didn't clean up the mess from the compasses that were broken in previous crashes.
Gibbs Racing will be installing GPS systems to replace the old fashioned technology.

Yesterday it was humid and warmer.
Not a good deal for the drivers.

Dear NASCAR.
Please forget about the "recording stars" who you invite to sing the National Anthem. A canned version of Kate Smith singing God Bless America is far better than a no talent hack who is a star of a made up game show/talent contest or a lead singer in a band I have never heard of.
Two days in a row they could not get the the line "O'er the land of the free" correct......
Thanks!
P.S.
Please make them bathe before they go on air?!?

I'm missing hearing Kasey's regular spotter and cousin, Kole, on the radio. Instead we have Keith, pit crew support. Rumor is that Kole's wife, Beckie, is having her baby. I miss Kole though.
On a related note, for the first time this year, raceview is actually working correctly showing my cars in the box in the middle of the screen like it is supposed to be instead of always on top of everything on the top left of my screen.

The mountain that comes into view, with the clouds around the peak, is to the north of the track, During the winter it wears a really neat snow cap.
A little farther is the high desert and about 6-7 in the afternoon the winds really pick up, flow over that range and come flying down into Fontana. In Sept-Oct those winds will blow about 30 mph with some gusts as high as 50-60 mph.
Again, I am amazed that the weather was 'mild' compared to last year. The local papers were sayihg that attendance has gone down since they opened the track for the races. IT's a little bit about the weather and the fans not
wanting to travel so far out of the way-we are spoiled that most of the events in Lost Angeles are within a 20-25 mile range.:(
-----------------
Although the Nat'l. Anthemn is a hard song to sing, I too dislike the 'funked/jazzed' up versions....
How's about "Living in America" instead?

I didn't finish my thought about the lights!
In Fontana after the first heavy winds of the season start, the first things that go are the arms that hold the signals and the signals themselves.
You can go to an intersection where they have the aluminum poles/arm that hold the signals over the lanes of traffic. You will see them sway back and forth from two to three feet. The passing drafts of the cars probably helped that sucker on to it's demise. :)
---------------
Good race. no real accidents, no problems and no KB in the winner's circle.
And why doesn't NASCAR let the 2nd and 3rd placers get up on stage, like some of the other racing leagues?

Richmond is in VIRGINIA, not South or North Carolina!
By mentioning this I may have to come out of the closet with my Weather Channel addiction, although it is mostly for hurricane coverage--I can't stand the "Local on the 8s"! Anyway, I'm sitting here browsing online and have the Weather Channel on television. I hear Paul Goodloe talking about what areas Hanna might affect, including "the NASCAR race in South Carolina or North Carolina I should say". I thought you meteorologists needed to know something about geography! Ok, back to your regularly scheduled topic.

I have to add one more picture for Mark...he took a lot of crap for wearing his Kyle Busch T-shirt.
Anyway, last year I won the trip down to Miami, and got to do the 3 day racing experience down there. One of my instructors from there is the one who owns the school we went to at MIS yesterday. After the day was over we went to dinner with him and a lot of his family, who all help him with the school. His girlfriend was the most relentless in harassing Mark. Here he is with her, doing her Kyle Busch impersonation.

Fans crash supercar
A £250,000 supercar crashed on its first public test drive after two fans persuaded a garage manager to let them take it for a spin.
The 420bhp Veritas RS III - built as a prototype by the Vemot AG company - had been on display at a car dealership in Moenchengladbach, Germany.
Fans Martin Holtz, 44, and Friedrich Voller, 53, persuaded the manager to let them take it for a spin.
But they lost control of the V8-engined motor - which does 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds - within minutes and ploughed into a lamppost.
Police arrested them as they tried to flee the mangled wreck, now being salvaged by mechanics.
"The car is immensely powerful and they grossly overestimated their driving skills," said a police spokesman.
This would never happen to a PTer.;)

The true Carl shows his face again....Happy not so happy?
From NASCAR.com
"Witnesses said Edwards approached Harvick in the Nationwide garage and the two exchanged sharp words, after which Harvick turned to walk away and Edwards grabbed him. Harvick then turned and shoved Edwards onto the hood of the No. 33 car, after which a Harvick crew member placed Edwards in a headlock.
At that point the altercation apparently was broken up. Officials from NASCAR had no comment, stating that the incident is a non-issue."

. Harvick then turned and shoved Edwards onto the hood of the No. 33 car, after which a Harvick crew member placed Edwards in a headlock.
YEAH!!!!!
Mixed Martial Arts during the yellow flags and rain delays.
Here's the set-up.
The grass area between pit road and the finish line is where you put up the ring.
During the pit stops the leader has to take on the "Lucky Dog' in a five minute round.
If the LD beats the leader he takes his place.
During pit stops two teams will nominate one crew member to take on another, selected by a drawing conducted by the NASCAR officials. POints will be awarded and drivers will have to swap positions depending on who wins.
Rain delays should have a open tournament for spots and point awarded for takedowns, striking and aggressiveness.

I am disappointed that Harvick doesn't kniow the rear naked choke!

I didn't get to see the race becuase we were at a wedding, but caught the last 15 laps on the radio onthe way home. Watching the highlights on Vicotry Lane, we missed a good one!
Today we went to the ARCA championship race here in Toledo. Wow!! I've been to the track before and to short dirt tracks, but seeing the stock cars on the 0.5 mile ...amazing! It got pretty wild, but was a heck of a race.

One of the cool things about the ARCA race here, is they always have a pre-race autograph session on the track.

Did anyone notice the shot of Jeff Burton getting into his car after the National Anthem?
His SO had to grab the jacket off the top of the car.......
Typical, guys always forget stuff on the roof of out cars when we go to work.:D

I said this morning I wasn't sure I wanted to watch the Jeff and Jimmie show...at least Denny had a decent run!
And how bout AJ Allmendinger getting a top 15! Nothing against Scott Speed, bu I hate that AJ lost his ride and hope he finds something for next year!

The prerace interview with JG was hilarious.
JG with the mullet and mustache made him look like a typical 80's porn star.

Here's a question for all you race fans.
Why do I drive around and look at my gas gauge and think to myself, "I can make it for another week on a tank of gas!" then have to fill up the next day.
I don't drive at 180 miles an hour and in circles!
But Carl Edwards makes the finish line on fumes?:confused::o

And a PAX on the ABC TV Network ...
30 minutes to go and ABC decides they "need" to switch to "Funniest Home Videos".

Well that is great. I was at a soccer game and was recording it...Thanks Victory Lane I was able tos ee what happened at the end...
I told Ralph we are going to Phoenix in November next year. We went in 2005and Tony was champion. We haven't gone since to the fall race since and every year since (baring some big change next week!) Jimmie has been champion. We have to go back to Phoenix next year to break the streak!!!

Now come on, that is like saying I need to like Kyle ;) :D
I was thinking about it on the way to work this morning that Jimmie has never won a race I have been to. I need to go to more races and keep him from winning #4 next year!
'Course that means Carl would would the championship cause he seems to win a lot when I go! ( Ithink he has won 50% of the Nationwide and 50% of the Cup races I have been to)

I missed the pre-race :( Carl is looking strong, but Jimiie hasn't blown up yet. Some one take him out!
I'd love to see Tony go out on a win. His car looks good, but those Rousch cars are har dto beat at Miami.
Truck race Friday was amazing! I wish they had more of their races on regular TV so more could enjoy them. That is one of the most exciting series in all of sports!

They interviewed Tony just after he had hugged/shook hands with every member of his team. He was quite emotional. Other than that there wasn't much out of the norm.

Well Jimmy did it, we all knew he would. But did Carl REALLY have to win the last race of the season?! How does he always get such good gas mileage? Where's he hiding that extra can of gas;)
I had a hope there for a minute when Tony was leading, but of course it just wasn't meant to be.
Farewell to the 2008 NASCAR season...come on season 2009 and #14:D

Must be Carl's healthy diet...helps him make his own gas or soemthing....
I was glad to see Tony have a good run. Even though I knew he would have to stop for gas, to see him run down Kenseth, know he was going to cath him ("here kitty, kitty") and lead for at least a time was a great end. I sure hope things go well for him next year and can't wait til we can start by #14 gear!
