Hi! I have 5 dogs. 4 are Miniature Pinschers and 1 is a Chocolate Labrador. I love Labs too. I actually love mostly all dogs. Two of our Miniature Pinschers are boys: Otto & Pickles & the other two are girls: Sugar & Trixie. Our Lab is a girl also, her name is Mocha. Otto is 14, Sugar is 10, Mocha is 4, Pickles is 3, & Trixie is 2.
Does anyone else have any Min Pins or Labs? I am also a fan of big dogs, especially Doberman Pinschers. What kind of dog do you have? Please share. Thanks!

Five dogs are alot! Welcome! I don't have min-pins or labs, but I do have a German Shepherd, Iris. I do agility, tracking and obedience with her.
In fact wish me luck, because I'm trying to get her 3rd leg of her CD (Companion Dog) title today!

Ahh... Sadly , I had four dogs, We had to just let our 16 year old go, Was not an easy thing to do. He organs were failing, but, that big heart just wouldn't give up. He was a Coc-a-poo. Sprockett was his name, (some of you may remember the old TV show, Fraggle Rock, PBS) And he gave us a lot of happy years. And we now, know that is not suffering any longer. And in a much better place.
We are stilling getting use to him being gone, but our others are giving me lots of attention. KD our Dalmatian, 7 years old, Rygel Maltese Shih-Tzu (Whata delight this breed, first time owner) he will be a year old Aug 23rd. Dargo Shih-Tzu our newest addition a rescue from Adopt-a-pet is a year in a half old. And we have two 13 and 14 year old kitties Peppie, and Taylor. And a Quaker parrot, and two Parakeets. What a Zoo here. I wouldn't have it any other way.
I also like reading about all the other wonderful people in this world who Love there animals too. For the Animals are the EYES OF GOD. :) :D For those of you who ask your self, Can you have to many pets, the Answer is a BIG NO....LOL

Hi again. Thanks for sharing your dogs. Well actually I have 3 dogs at my Mom's house (Sugar, Trixie, & Mocha). The other two Min Pins are at my Dad's (Otto & Pickles). It's a good thing we don't have them all- our house is already chaos. . . LOL! At my Mom's we also have 3 cockatiels (Iggy, Max, & Percy). My mom really likes Quakers, eventually we might get a bigger bird, but too many animals right now. I would love to have a Goffin. At my Dad's we also have a cat, his name is Thumbs. He has an extra thumb on each front paw, so that's where his name came from. He's crazy. . . he's an outside cat. Loves to hunt rodents. I'll tell more about my pets' behavior later. :D :)

:D Oh I meant to say earlier- Sorry Sandy about your Min Pin. That's horrible but it's good you have dogs now. 8! Wow that's alot.
Once when we were walking Otto & Pickles at a park right near our old house & a Boxer attacked Pickles (the Boxer was not on a leash but Pickles was). He ripped Pickles right out of his harness. It was so terrible. He (Pickles) ran soooo fast, & we had to go out a look for him. My Dad finally found him on top of a hill hiding in bushes. He was so scared. Luckily we got him to the vet. This was a couple years ago. He wasn't hurt too bad, but the Boxer did puncture him under his front leg. Thank you Grace for your compliments on my dogs' names. All their names suit them very well! :)

Welcome to both of you newbies! You'll love it here.
I love min pins! They are sooo cute and I hope to get one someday. I fell in love with one two weeks ago at a pet store that lets the puppies run around in a big pen. He was the friskiest, sweetest, most lovable little guy. It was hard to leave without wanting to hide his tiny puppy body under my shirt! :)

I have never had a MinPin, but find them very appealing. The only negative comment I've heard was from an emergency room vet. He told me that when they get a dog coming in with dog fight wounds, they hope the wounded dog is not a MinPin. The reason was the amount of damage done to the MinPin, not due to the way the dog behaved or handled treatment. Often the little dog just didn't back down, and was horribly damaged by a larger dog.
In fact, it is really a negative comment about some of the people who own MinPins, not about the dogs. Many people get MinPins for the wrong reason, especially because they look like their more intimidating cousins the Doberman. The owners think they have a fighter, and put the dog into situations that should be avoided. Putting a small dog with a big attitude into a dog fight is just asking for terrible trouble.
So, for a responsible owner, a MinPin can be a wonderful pet. For an owner who wants to show off or get an ego boost from owning a tough dog, ANY dog is a bad match.

Oh yes, I totally agree. Now in this situation when the Boxer attacked Pickles, Pickles did not keep going like you say. He defended himself but this dog was a whole lot bigger than him and stronger. Most small dogs think they are bigger and maybe some may act like it and keep fighting. Pickles is our only dog that was attacked.
None of our others have every attcked any dog or been attacked.
I think that if you get a dog just to put it in a fight and not to care for it is horrible. All of our dogs are very spoiled, they are great. Like I said as soon as I figure out the picture thing, I'll post pics.
My Mom had Dobermans a couple of years ago. Both of hers were wonderful. They were very good and well trained. :) :D Bye
