I got him on Tuesday but never got any pictures so I thought I would wait till I got some to show you guys. He's a 14 yr old Arab and his name is Reno :)

Winter does make it hard to ride doesn't it? Yes, I'm allergic to the cold too. After I was done taking pictures of him my face swelled up turned bright red and I got hives on my cheeks. So winter REALLY sucks for me. Your so lucky to have a heated arena.

Congratulations on a wonderful boy. Is he gelded? My arabian stallion was quite a handful. He was so smart it made it difficult to stay ahead of him. He lifted the gate off the hinges to get at my mares more than once in the middle of the night. I have a quarab mare and she is also very, very intelligent. Some how you get the feeling this breed is always a step ahead of you. They are a wonderful proud breed that will make people stop on the side of the road to watch them in the pasture as they trot with that tail up high. I hope you can get some ride time in soon. Perhaps spring will arrive early for you and Reno. He is beautiful and looks very young. Of course they are the worlds best handwarmers too. Have fun and enjoy your new best friend.

I got to ride him yesterday and hopefully today. I havn't ridden in a year and today my everything is sooo sore.
I agree they are a amazing gorgeous breed, I don't get how so many people can say they are ugly.

I haven't rode (extensively) since I was on the equestrian team in college... that was in 02! My balance is LONG GONE ( :o ) so I feel like I'm starting from scratch. I had my mom go out and take pics of me today so I could see exactly what it was I was doing wrong and OH MY GOSH... I look horrid! :eek: :o :mad:

Ah well, practice, practice, practice, right? :)

He is quite handsome, though I am sure he does look more "arabian" when he's less fuzzy! But in Arabia, they don't quite have to manage with the winters an Ontarian horse must!

Give him a good skritch on the muzzle for me, okay?

Oh, and as far as being allergic to the cold, have you tried applying a good moisturizer/sunblock combination before heading out? That would help protect your skin from winter.

How does Reno ride? My friend has an arab mare and her trot is sooo friggin' bouncy there's no way to sit it, you have to post! Once you get the feel of it again you'll feel back to your normal self. When I went to see him for the first time and tack up I forgot how to put a bridle on:o.

He's sooo smooth to ride I can keep my seat very well.



Oh, and as far as being allergic to the cold, have you tried applying a good moisturizer/sunblock combination before heading out? That would help protect your skin from winter.

No I'm also allergic to most creams, my medicated one has run out.

you need to post some pics too! It took me a while to get my "horse legs" back if you will. Now when I ride Gent I feel like we are a team, at first i was very awkward and could hardly get on LOL. Of course it didn't help that he wouldn't stand still for me to mount....but he does pretty well now.
