Hello, Stewie, you look very very cute in your Santa outfit! I saw your picture & I thought you were Pua (silly me!) - I spend almost all my time over in DOG, so please forgive me. I followed Pua through her illness, and I'm glad she has you to keep her company now. I read her FAQ, and I must say, I learned a lot! I think it's very cool that your mom is giving you & Pua such a good home, and she researches how to take the very very best care of you possible so we can all enjoy you for years to come! Stewie, you're the very first Tamandua Tetradacyla we have had the pleasure of meeting. "We" means me, Norman the King, my baby brother Felix the Prince and our humans, KatMa & Paw-Paw. Wow! what fancy claws you have...makes our kitty claws look so manicured and girlish. :D :D

We've got something in common: we love our natural scratch logs [made by our Uncle Peter] which are superior to commercial scratching posts.

We wonder: What is the typical lifespan of domesticated Tamandua Tetradacyla who live with humans?

Oh, wow! I've never seen or considered an anteater as a pet. But you are a very handsome boy Stewie. You look so soft and clean, and cute in your Santa suit. I hope you and your sweetie Pua have a wonderful Christmas. You are a very unique POTD!

Thank you all very much. We got our Christmas goodies today but the pics aren't up just yet so it was a special day. Santa visited us early maybe he saw we were pet of the day. I was even good and didn't poop behind the couch(Stewie has been going through a rebellious stage). We played and ran around and Pua gave me a arm and neck massage and then cuddled with mom under a new blankie on the couch. ~Stewie

Tamanduas should have a captive lifespan similar to a small dog if cared for properly. Average lifespan was 9yrs but the quality of captive care has gone up greatly with more recent studies and shared info. The most recent old age death at a zoo was 19yrs. While we don't know Pua's true age I am fairly sure she was fairly young 1.5-2yrs and she doesn't act old. So we expect to have both around for a long time to come. OH my 19yrs of Stewie :eek: lol.
