Took 3 pets - 1/4 of the family - to the vet this morning: Vita, Sparkle and Sugar.

Vita has a URI for sure. She has been urinating around the house, so may have a UTI as well. She has lost a pound in weight since May, I hadn't noticed as she has all the long fur. She is on Clavamox for 10 days. Will have urinalysis results on Friday afternoon. The vet suggested she is urinating due to stress, as she is always using a vertical surface.

Sparkle went in because she is losing weight and has added a feeding every 24 hours. She has lost almost 3 pounds since May. She had blood work and urinalysis, results will be in Friday.

Sugar (dog) has a sinus infection and is on Clavamox. She is wheezing both inhaling and exhaling. No problem with her lungs, it is all in the sinuses, and probably some post nasal drip. The NOISE keeps the whole house awake at night.

$455 later, we all trouped home again.

I got the lab results.

Sparkle has an extremely elevated white blood cell count; all else looks fine n her blood work and in her urinalysis. No thyroid issues, no kidney issues. So we could try antibiotics, or do x rays looking for cancer. Didn't I just go through this with my RB Ruffles? I just can't face it, I told the vet I'd think on it and call her after Christmas. Well, that was about 2 hours ago. I'm thinking I will call, and pick up the antibiotics, start those anyway.

Vita's urinalysis show a low specific gravity. But it is the same as it was in April; which suggests her kidneys are not funtioning 100% but not deteriorating rapidly, thank goodness. So her urinating all over the house appears to be behavioural. We have to try and keep things CALM. How the heck to I manage that with 12 pets???

Sugar is taking her antibiotics and in the 48 hours she 'may' be slightly better. Hard to tell. She didn't have any lab work.

How about trying the 'Feliway collar' with Vita?

Oscar wears a really stretchy collar (came off in a playfight with Cole once, so it is stretchy enough to not choke him AT ALL), and at breakfast time, I shake the Feliway and put one little shot into the collar.

Took Oscar and I a couple of days to get adjusted, but now he just keeps on eating while I do it!

Also - spray JUST enough to create a squirt - not a whole 'puff' of spray.

See what the vet thinks - maybe 3 x a day might be enough. And using the Feliway this way, it lasts FOREVER. :)

I hope Sparkle responds to antibiotics and this turns out to be just one of those weird bugs that goes away.

Hope Sugar perks up soon.

Thanks, Candace, never thought of it and I just may give that a try! I have some Feliway from last year when we were traveling so much; it helped Sparkle with her car sickness. Great idea!
