Good ole Youngstown  ...
ONLY the ABC Network is carrying the "America's Thanksgiving Parade" ...
with a generous (NOT) time allotment of 12:00 noon to 1:00PM ...

Kimmy - you said "Our TV Slot: approx. 11:30 a.m." ...

Is that the approximate "real time" your 501st Legion will march past the TV cameras?

I can't tell from the TV listing if ABC will tape delay and edit their coverage;
or just put on an hour's worth of whatever is marching past.

Maybe you guys can get a "local" to make a recording of the Detroit TV coverage.

And is Kia gearing up and marching? ;)

You guys have **PHUNN** ... we'll try to *wave* at ya!
:D

Thanks everyone!

Our local Garrison Commander, Jon, and Dave, who helped organize the event, were interviewed this weekend. The video shows a lot of past event footage. It turned out very nice. :D

This isn't my first parade in costume, but it's my first with the Trooper armor. :D

Kimmy what station is it being aired on?

ramanth
11-21-2007, 04:19 PM
I saw a commerical for it on the local CBS station that'll be airing it from 9-Noon.

I'm not sure about up there. You'd have to check your local listings. (Or channel surf for commercials :) )

*edit*

Here's a PDF for a listing of stations. It's alphabetical by state.

I just looked at the PDF list of TV stations. In the ones for Michigan there ISN'T one listed for Detroit. Isn't a Detroit station carrying it? The parade takes place IN Detroit!

I looked at Ohio too, because I can get some of the Toledo stations. Apparently it's not being carried in Toledo, either.

ramanth

I would assume Detroit is carrying it. You might have to check your local TV Guide. CBS is airing it in the Lansing area. ABC has covered it in the past. NBC in the Lansing area is covering the Macy's parade.

Did you see us? Did you see us? :D

What a blast!! The weather was perfect. It was a little windy while we were waiting in the staging area, but once we stepped off, the wind died down, the clouds parted and the sun came out. :D

I hope they let us participate again. We had a great time. Hope we looked good!

Time to clean up, stuff ourselves and relax. Happy Thanksgiving!

Yeah, standing outside for a couple hours in 37 degree temps waiting for the parade to start was the worst part. We all dressed as warm as we could under our costumes, but once the parade started and we started moving more, it was perfect temps in our suits. It was a lot of fun and the crowds were very receptive to us. :D

Yep! That was me! :D What's funny is that the sun came out just as we were approaching that section with the cameras and my lenses fogged up. I couldn't see a thing! So I just starting high stepping it (didn't want to trip) and followed the white blur ahead of me. ;)

If you look at the photo I posted, he's the one closest to the guy in the orange jumpsuit. There were 3 Fett's (Boba, Jaster, & Jango). If you look at the video footage, they are lined up in that order from (your) left to right. It's Jaster that gets the closeup.

Where's your WEAPONS?
Curious - did "Homeland Security" or someone with the Parade Committee request
that the "heavy weapons" be left back on the Ship?

"Armed" or not, ya all looked really http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/cool.gif

Yep, parade committee said no blasters. It's okay. It was easier marching without the weapons than with. :)

We were in the staging area and the Red Hat group came by, so we had to dance along while we were waiting for our respective turns. I'm the one in the middle. :D

You Guys were more "with it" than the Red Hatters were!

You really traveled "light" - NO Back-Pack as well as no Weapon?

Well, I didn't find out if it was on in Detroit or Toledo.. I had to work at the shelter so I couldn't have watched anyway. But I've enjoyed very much seeing the YouTube excerpts from it. Way to go, folks!

Then on Friday evening after the Ch. 4 newscast, there was a half-hour special on "The Best of America's Thanksgiving Parade"... which I discovered purely by chance. And there you all were in the middle of it!

I am VERY impressed that you all made your costumes from scratch. Well done! Maybe I can see it next year.
