I'm not normally over on the cat board, so please bear with me. :)

The sudden and tragic passing of my grandmother in January of 2006 left my family and I with her 6 cats.

One of them, Trey, was her absolute baby. My grandparents treated him like a KING, and boy, he still feels that way. He was the only real "inside cat". He has three legs; we believe he was attacked by a big dog, and my grandmother found him with the 4th needing to be amputated. He's about 9-10 years old and they had had him since he was about 1. Needless to say, being the only cat or animal in the house and having two retired owners care and love for him left him feeling like the king of the house.

The two others in question LOVE to be outside. They much prefer to be outside, but we cannot let them out. Callie and Jill were outside quite often when living with my grandmother, coming in and every now and then to eat some food, get a drink of water, or to rest for a couple hours. They were never "high maintenence" kitties, they just loved to be outdoors. They are sisters and both 3 years old.

The issue we're having is that we cannot let our cats outside due to neighborhood laws. They are not working out inside for various reasons. We feel extremely bad for not letting them out when they so badly want to be out, and they would lose so much weight if they could just run and jump outside. Also, the issue with Trey is that none of us have *that* much time to devote to him and him alone. Plus, we have other cats and a dog. He does not like having to share our love.

Here's where I need your help. I need to rehome Trey, Jill, and Callie. The other three are working out great and are having zero problems. The only way I will place these kitties is to find them a loving home - I will not take them to an animal shelter, or whatever. It would be ideal to find Trey an elderly couple that's looking for a feline furry with a HUGE loveable personality. This way, he can get all of the love and attention he needs and wants, that we cannot supply. It would also be ideal to find Jill and Callie a home that has LOTS of land for them to roam on. Those two LOVE to be outside, and land is what is needed in this situation.

First, is there anyone willing to take in either of these 3 or know anyone who would like to take them in? Second, can anyone put me in contact to find someone interested in these kitties?

Thank you so much.

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother's passing. Your poor family and her poor kitties. The cats must at such a loss. If you don't mind me asking, where do you live? Maybe I can post them on my website or on Petfinder.com for you if you are in Illinois. If not, I can get you some links to rescues in your area (no kll shelters mainly for cats). I hope I can help you. Maybe you should look into a children's farm or some type of farm for Jill and Callie, that way they can be outside and safe on lots of land where there are no busy streets they can run into.

I live in Louisville, KY but I if you're in Illinois, I am more than happy to make that drive to find them some good homes.

I really do not want to place these kitties in a shelter or an animal rescue. I'd rather find a person or a home to place them. However, the children's farm sounds like a wonderful idea... I've never heard of them. How would I go about finding where some are?

Try the Yellow Pages? "Petting Farms" etc...to be on the safe side, call your shelter or Humane society and have them recommend one. They may even know of a place! :)

There is a children's farm near me that took in some ducks I rescued about 4 yrs ago. I am not sure if they will take cats as they had several back then. If you want I can post the cats online for you, just PM me their picture and all their information such as vet history, likes/dislikes, and what sort of family they would best fit in (kids, cats, dogs, etc.). I would be very happy to help you.

Here is the link to the website for the children's farm I mentioned above. It is called The Center.
