Hi,
My final paper in my Child Psychology class is due this Saturday and I wanted to get some help from you all if I could. Would you mind taking the poll and then answering the questions for me? My topic is "Children of Divorce". If you feel better emailing me (
[email protected]) , that would be great too. Thanks!!!! :) **I promise this will be anonymous.**
1. How old were you when your parents divorced?
2. What do you feel was the biggest adjustment for you?
3. How well do you feel you dealt with the divorce?
4. What were the negative effects you experienced?
5. Any positives?
6. Looking back (or even currently) how has your parents divorce changed your life?
7. Is there anything you could go back and change about the whole experience? (anything at all)
THANK YOU for your help! Please do this only if you want to. My paper has to be 10 pages and while I could write about 500 on my parent's divorce, I don't think that's what he wants. :)
Doh! I forgot to do the poll!! Please tell me also....are your parent's still together, or not.

My parents were married almost 40 years when my Dad died in 1957. Mother remained a widow until her death in 1995.

I emailed you my responses to your questions. I was in my 20s when my parents divorced so I don't know how relevant my answers will be.

My father raised me and my two brothers without a mother but she was killed by a drunk driver when she was only 27 and I was 5 (the youngest of the three of us). I personally can't imagine being without a parent and knowing they were still alive but didn't want to have anything to do with me. That would be worse I think than knowing they were dead.
I realize not all divorces end up with a parent leaving and never having contact with the kids again but I think it is a majority. :(

My parents are still together, but they never married. I guess they didn't need a piece of paper to show how much they love eachother :)

Gosh, I'm really sorry Ash. :(
Here is a really good site that I used a lot of information from:
It's Not Your Fault (http://www.itsnotyourfault.org/)
Here's one that looks really neat for support:
Care Zone (http://www.dudley-gateway.co.uk/cz/czindex.htm)
This site looks really neat, especially for your younger brother:
Kids in the Middle (http://www.kidsinthemiddle.org/)
Let me know if you want more...
Take care,
Kelly
