Buffy is absolutely adorable! Look at that precious little face!!! Welcome to Pet Talk.

Now... correct me if I am wrong, everyone... but wasn't there another chihuahua named Buffy whose family posted here a few months ago? Same dog??

Same dog. We lost touch with the site a couple of months ago and just relocated it and I'm so glad. I added it to my favorites. So much information and so many great pets. I know i'm gonna luv it here.

awwwwe!!! what a cute little fuzzbucket!!! (comming from me, "fuzzbucket" is a GOOD thing.)

i used to be passive about chihuahuas, but now i've been in love ever since this one in my old neighborhood. a little black one w/ white paws, and a white tip on his tail. his tail was as long as his body. ...so cute!

Thank you everyone for the nice compliments. Buffy and I appreciate them. I want to write a little bit about her, as she is really something!!

Buffy was the runt of the litter (3 puppies). She was so tiny (as you can see in the picture) that it was amazing to everyone that something so small could be so perfectly made. Buffy has been nominated "Mrs. Personality" by the neighborhood children. She is so playful and affectionate that everyone wants to keep her. A lot of people have the perception that chihuahuas are difficult little dogs: nothing could be further from the thruth and Buffy proves that misconception is wrong.

They are tough and fearless and will stand up to even a Great Dane, but at the same time they are loyal and give SO much affection that I know we will always have a chi in our life. They're great alarm dogs (no one gets within 20 feet of our house without Buffy warning with a bark) although they ARE NOT yappers, and they are very easy maintenance since they hardly get sick (well...at least the 2 chihuahuas that we have are healthy - thank God).

My daughter Maggie (23) recently moved out and took Buffy with her. We miss the daily interaction a lot. There isn't one single week I haven't heard my daughter say: awwww Mom, thank you for giving me Buffy. It was the best birthday present in my life. To her, Buffy is her baby and she pampers her A LOT!

I'm glad I can share her life here. :)

Of course you can share your adorable sweet baby! That's the best part about this site. You can talk about your furkids forever and no one gets sick of it! :)

Barbiro - I don't know how - but I missed this post - probably because I was on vacation when you posted this. This baby is incredibly cute - I've never seen a newborn chi. I can't believe how tiny. So tiny it's scary. Look at her now - you must have so very much fun with her. I'm sure that when I get ready to get a dog - I'll want one of these little guys.

AWWWWWWWEEEEE Buffy is such a cute little package!! Your son is quite a cutie too! :D LOL LOL
Anyway, I love all dogs, but tend to be a 'big-dog' person...but Buffy got me hooked on the tiniest of dogs!! LOL LOL I've been wanting a dog for a long long time, since our family dog has gone to the rainbow bridge, and now I'm grown up and on my own. I'm just waiting until the time is right, because right now my work hours are just crazy and I'm gone from the house a lot. Plus with family in the midwest, I would hate leaving a dog behind for several weeks. But, I have also recently been thinking about the smaller cuties like Buffy. I could at least take a small dog like that as a 'carry-on' when I travelled by plane, so I wouldn't have to leave him/her behind if I flew somewhere! LOL LOL Anyway, just had to chime in here and say hi and that Buffy is a cutie! :D Give her a huge slurpy kiss for me next time you see her!

Thank you for the compliments. I just adore Buffy and I think she was the best pick of the litter, plus her personality is amazing!! Thank you for compliments about my son. He's a great young man, just turned 21, in college and I couldn't have asked for a better Son. I'm blessed that all my children have turned out really great. My son is also a commercial model, if you get a chance, check out his website:

My Son's Website (http://www.cesarmodels.com)

I'll try to post more pictures of Buffy next week. My daughter is bringing her over and the minute she does I grab my digital camera. That chi is really photogenic! :)

Just wanted to share an event: BUFFY'S first haircut.
We live in Miami and it can get pretty hot so I opt to trim our dogs' hair during the summer. I'm happy to report that Buffy loved the electric clippers! :)

It was so funny...at first, when I turned the clippers on, she kept nipping at it and growling, but I kept telling her to sit still and hush. After about 3 minutes she stayed totally still and quiet and I was able to shave her in less than 10 minutes. I really think she wound up enjoying this grooming period.

For a little dog (she now weighs 3 lbs. 2 oz.) I sure clipped a lot of hair. Now she looks even tinier. I'll be posting a picture tonight or tomorrow.

NOW  if I could only figure out how to shave Lady (my retriever) -- she's terrified of the electric clippers and it's always an ordeal (for everyone involved) when we do this.

Barbi - sounds like Buffy will look a lot like Tess with less fur:) :) .
It's terribly cold here - too bad you can't send some of that left over fur over to my Tess:) :) . Poor girl, she gets so cold when I put her out for potty, takes a long time before she quits shaking. Tess is 3 lbs now, hope she doesn't get much bigger - she's got a lot of growing time left.

Barbiro

Isn't it funny how they shake when it gets a little bit cold? I know both Buffy and Tobi can't stand cold weather (under 65 degrees).

Purrley, wait till you see the new pictures. I shaved both Tobi and Buffy....they look so cute. You don't notice how fat your dogs have gotten until you actually shave them. Well...Tobi needs to go on a diet. He looks very stocky and muscular, I'm sure he's no longer weighing 4 pounds (probably 6). Buffy looks like she weighs 2 pound...she's so tiny and cute. They both have healthy appetites, but I guess Buffy burns the calories since she's extremely hyper. Tobi is more relaxed which is why I think he's gaining weigh.

How are you and Tess doing? Has she learned her name? What is she up to? I keep checking the forum in case you post pictures :):)

Barbi - Tess and I are doing great. We love each other a whole lot. She's almost completely potty trained, I say almost cause we still have an accident once in a while and its always my fault for not being attentive enough. I can read her pretty well now. She's a baby and needs my constant attention. She loves to play with the cats and she's such a cuddler, head on my shoulder or arm or whatever when she rests. Other people can hold her, but she's so nippy and squirmy until she gets back into my arms, so looks like I got her really spoiled. Your babies are just so incredibly cute and I'm sure just as cute with or without fur. Can't wait to see the new pictures. I'll be sure that you see pictures of Tess as soon as I get them.

I am sorry, I missed this post! If Purley wouldn't have posted, I may have missed it

I must say, that is one cute pup! I think she may be the cutest thing to walk the earth :D I'd just want to inhale her 24 hours a day :) Hehehe....she'd HATE me because I'd NEVER be able to stop KISSING that fuzzy face and warm forhead of hers :D

And your son is BEAUTIFUL also :) He's gorgeous and you should be so proud because he also loves animals! He's going to make some girl REALLY happy someday! He's got the qualities for sure!

You are very blessed, Barbiro.

AdoreMyDogs, thank you for the compliments, especially about my Son. He is such a fine young man that I really do feel blessed with all my kids.

I'm posting some new pics of Buffy taken yesterday. They didn't come out that good since the battery was low on the digital camera, but it gives you a pretty good idea of how she looks now. She sure is a tiny and lovable little thing. When my daughter leaves to go home, I sorely miss them both.

In this picture, Buffy had seen the electric shaver and reacts! lol :)

So tiny yet so full of personality!
http://cesarmodels.com/Cesar-Pic/buf6.JPG

Lately, when my daughter Maggie is visiting and I take Buffy out she's been growling at people. Once they come pet her she relaxes, but I don't like the growling part. We need to work with her on that. I tell Maggie maybe she needs to take her out more often. Buffy spends too much time in the apartment with Maggie and too little time seeing other people.

See all the hair I trimmed off her? It really was a lot, although I originally didn't think she had a lot of hair to trim. Now she looks tinier. Buffy always smells really pretty, maybe cause Maggie grooms her all the time. Most people that carry her say she smells like a baby's teddy bear. I will not ever stop saying repeating that we got the pick of the litter. She is a joy to have around.

OH MY GOSH!!!! What a little doll baby. You know I think I'm going to have the growling problem with Tess too. She spends all her time with me and hasn't seen my 6 year old grand daughter in quite a while. I'm really worried about the nipping. She can sure bite hard when she gets excited. It's really hard not to haul off and smack her when she bites hard. So far I just let out a loud OUCH and NO BITE!!!. She settles down after that. The only time a swatted her butt is when she got into the cat's litter box. She hasn't gone in there since:D :D , but I sure felt guilty about the swat, I promised myself I would never use my hands for punishment. It was one of those days when a multiple of irritations occurred all at once and I just lost my temper. Gosh I love her though - what a cuddly little cutie. Sooooo much personality and I know she is so spoiled, and I can tell she really loves me:D

Barbiro
01-25-2002, 02:43 PM
Hey Purrley, good to hear from you. Don't feel guilty. I've "swatted" Buffy with a rolled up newspaper on her butt. It makes a lot of noise and it doesn't hurt her. They are a very smart breed and learn very fast what's acceptable or not.

Buffy kept jumping on top of my dining room table, which is made of cherrywood oak and very expensive. For such a tiny little thing she can jump pretty high. I kept telling her "Buffy, down!" but every chance she got she jumped on it. Now I know she knows the "down" command because she sure as hell listens to it when I have food in my hands. I worried about her scratching the table with her nails.

One day I caught her laying on it and gave the command; she totally ignored me. I got 2 or 3 sheets of newspaper, rolled them up and wacked her on her butt, which you know makes a loud sound. She got off the table really fast. Would you believe she has not been on it again? Whenever I see that she's tempted, all I have to say is "don't even think about it!"...I really think all 3 of my dogs know what that sentence means since it stops them on their tracks.

P.S.: any pics yet? :D :D

I am soooooooooooo happy!!!!! Great news!!!!! The International Library of Photography saw this picture of Buffy

http://cesarmodels.com/Cesar-Pic/1buffy.jpg

and it was selected for publication because of its unique perspective and artistic vision!! Can you believe it? I am so happy. The photograph will appear in a publication entitled "Visions of the Soul", hard-cover, they said the book is 250 pages and can be found in the Summer of 2002 at all major retail bookstores and online booksellers.

I knew that face was irresistible! :):):):) I'm a so proud of Buffy.

Wow:eek: THAT'S TOTALLY FANTASTIC!!!. How could anyone resist that cute picture of Buffy - they made a good choice. You get some monetary reward for using this picture? You should!!! It was this picture that convinced me totally that I wanted I Chihuahua.

Tess and I had a really good weekend, took her out to my daughter's place and my grand daughter and her little friend played with Tess for a while. Tess was really good, with the kids just play biting, no growling so I was really happy about that.
