I did not start this thread to be bashed.

Well, I really love my guinea pigs and for their sake and my parents I am going to have to give them away to my mum friend (who ADORES animals). My parents are trying to do up the garden and the guinea pigs eat all the grass etc and I have some very important tests coming up (GCSE's) and probably just wont have the time to give them the attention they need. It is easy with the hamsters as they are inside, dont make to much mess and are quick to clean out. The guineas are a different story. :(

I hope you understand.

Anyway... I went out to get some photos and videos today and they let me put them on my lap. They were from a guinea pig farm and were allowed to roam around fields and babies so they are basically wild and despite trying every day for 2 years they did not get much tamer. So them letting me put them on my lap was great :)

Here are *some* pictures from today: (I took so many!)

Awww, I love guinea pigs and miss owning them, but between allergies (I put up with it for 10 years) and having 7 cats having a piggy is impossible. Thanx for the beautiful pix. I do know piggies have to be tamed fairly young. My oldest one was 9 weeks old and had been unhandled when I got him and he was harder to tame than the younger ones I'd gotten which had already been handled in the pet store before I got them.

I hope the piggies will be happy in their new home and it's wise to know when an animal would be happier in another place even though it's a hard decision to make.

Thanx for sharing the pix!! :)

I'm sorry to hear this Ellie as I know how fond of those two little piggies you are and as always, i'm sure you have done what you think is best for Nut and Egg.

Wonderful pictures tho' - i'm very impressed that you managed (at long last!) to have a nice cuddle with them.

xx

Aw, I know what a hard decision this was for you and how much you love them. I hope they will be happy in their new home. Since they are going to a friend of your Mum, maybe you will be able to vist them from time to time.

I am so sorry about Nut and Egg. Giving away your pets is really hard and a difficult desicion. Since your mom's friend is keeping them, you could probably visit them every once and awhile.

Nut and Egg and gorgeous! Great pictures too. Thanks for sharing them.

AND - take photos so we can visit with them as well!

Bless you for making this difficult decision. They are going together, yippee!

I am sure this was a tough decision for you and your family to make. But I am sure you chose the right one. Nut and Egg were very happy with you, but now they will also have a VERY nice home to be happy in for many years to come. I never saw pictures of them but I must say this has totally made me want piggies even more. They seem so sweet and gentle. Nut and Egg were gorgeous and I enjoyed those pictures alot. You captured them perfectly.

Hello lovely piggies :D

No bashing from me! You have made the decision based on what is best for Nut and Egg which makes you a great guinea-mum

Hello Ellie. I am sure you are doing what is best for everyone. I know you would make sure they were going to a very good home. Because even though they never became snuggly friendly you still love them and they love you. Good luck in your new home Nut and Egg!! If they have not gone already please pass out some treats from me. Please keep us posted on them when you can.

Jen: Yes they do. I have never known of an indoor guinea pig :p They live in a hutch in the garden ;)

Maltese Love: Ha ha! You should of seen them a while before those photos! They are getting older now so yes they are more gentle but they still scratched me etc... I love them all the same though :D

WELOVESPUPPIES: They leave at the weekend at the earliest. Treats passed out. They say thank you ;)

Yep I will keep you all posted... I will hopefully visit them and I will hopefully have my cam if I do! ;)

Still sad though :(

:( sorry (and just) seeing this. I can understand, I had a bunny when I had my zephyra the cat who thinks bunny is a snack sometimes so I kept her out in the garage with bigger hutch, etc. (I only had a room of my own for my pets) but it wasn't really fair or was as good as inside. :( that was YEARS ago...wow.

but what you did was best for them. they're cute looking bunches (beautiful pictures by the way!) so it shouldn't be hard getting plenty of handloves! any luck last weekend? I hope you were happy with the decision of their new family.

((hugs)) go and visit when you can! I hope to see my bunny again too. :)
