Please crosspost far and wide.....

Hello,

I am reaching out to as many rescue-type people that I know to try to find help for Nemo. I have blind-copied this to protect the innocent ;-) I have never sent a 'mass' email before, but I will do whatever I have to do to try to save this dear, precious, dog!

Nemo is an ADORABLE dog. He is just under 2 years old, neutered, fully vaccinated and weighs just over 40 pounds. Nemo is one of the most command-trained/obedient dogs that I have ever met! That dog will go to a 'down' before you have even finished the word! He is completely house-trained - he would rather jump off of a cliff before he messed in his house! He is one of the most loyal dogs you could ever meet. He is calm, gentle, quiet, never jumps on people, loves people and kids. He likes to run around and play with you, but is not super 'toy' driven in any way, shape or form. He is what I would call 'focused'. I suspect that he used to be a working dog. When I take him to work with me, he will gladly greet the people who come and go from our office, but the rest of the time he lays right by my side, quiet as a church mouse, waiting for me to let him know what we will be doing next.

So you wonder why I am writing?

Well, Nemo has one very big issue. Whatever happened to him, in his past, has caused him to not be able to be around any other animals...dogs & cats (he has never 'reacted' to my horses, goats or llamas - another part of why I think he was a working dog). It is hard to describe, but I do believe that it is fear based. When Nemo even sees another dog, he goes a bit insane. He will growl, pull at the leash, bear teeth, etc. To my knowledge, however, Nemo has never actually engaged with or hurt another dog. (He was loose, by mistake, in my yard two weeks ago when two other rescue dogs were out there...yes, he growled, put up a big fuss, and 'aggressed toward them' but no one was hurt....). But, I feel it is very important that he not be placed in an environment where he would continue to be exposed to other dogs....it makes him very anxious, scared, shaking, etc. And I want to say this: he has NEVER once re-directed a bite or aggressive move toward me....even when I have pulled him by his collar away from another dog. It is all totally focused on the other dog.

Nemo is about out of options. I have tried many placements with places like OHS (where he came from), Project Pooch, etc...but no one has the ability to give him a dog-free environment (which he needs so much for his mental health). Being in rescue, with all of these other dogs, is slowly driving him insane. When he is with me at work, he is the happiest dog in the world, and then I have to bring him back here and he just starts shaking again and anticipating the worst.

So if any of you know of a safe place for this dear boy, please let me know. His petfinder ad is here: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=7338113 (http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=7338113)

You can also feel free to give anyone my email address. I will move mountains to find this boy the secure, loving environment that he deserves. Nemo is a good dog. Who knows what happened to him to cause his issue. I can't undo that, but I can try to find him a place where his disability is not an issue.

Thank you so very much for reading this. Feel free to cross-post far and wide. (well not Europe and stuff...ha, ha).
