Toivo seems ok for now, we called an E-vet but didnt have anything small enugh to help a bird, she reccomended some good bird vets but neuther of them offers after hours help. there is one bird vet that has an emerancy servace, but he was not reccomened, plus he was our vet with my old dog, Shadow and we ran away from him after he managed to screw up her intestines during her spay, so I aint about to trust my bird in his hands. the best we can do is wait till morning, and watch him and keep him warm until then. Electra didnt actually cut him, but rather abraised the skin down his whole back scraping out a lot of feathers and fluff along the way, but he is really stressed and it obviously traumatized him. please pray that he will be ok till I can get him to a vet :(

naturally the vets are in surgury and the soonest either of the bird vets will take him is 10am TOMOROW morning unless its a life or death emergancy! I called in sick to work today so I can stay home and keep an eye on him, that way if he does suddenly start going downhill at least I can rush him to one of these vets and they will accept him as an emergancy :( its times like these that I am glad my boss is also a friend(she's practicly been my second mother since I was in 7th grade) so all I had to do what happend and she understood completly.

Toivo, let your mom reassure you and I hope you feel better and calmer soon.

Is there anything a bird can take in water or food to help calm him a bit, just temporarily?

I hope he is ok today, and starts to feel safer.

Poor widdle birdie! Next time Electra invites you for lunch, think twice! ;)

he's been doing ok so so far today, sometimes he will just sit on his perch and shake though :( he's only gotta hold on 10 more hours til his appointment. he seems ok, but birds are notorious for acting fine when they are not. my mom keeps saying "he's probably ok" but after what happend with my last bird(he had gotten caught in sticky paper and he has seemed ok, we got all the glue out he was acting totally normal, and few days later he dropped dead, he had only been a year old), well I dont wanna take that "probably" chance again.

I don't know when you posted the last thread so I don't know if your bird has seen a vet yet or not, but I hope that s/he is ok. I know how birds can hide illnesses very well but hopefully your bird will be just fine after s/he has seen a vet. Let us know how your bird does and I'll say a prayer for him/her :)

he just saw the vet this morning. Toivo is doing great, he has a puncture and a bunch of bruising on his back, but its not to deep, its not infected and its healing itself just fine, so the vet said to just watch him, showed me how to check wound for infection, and if it does get infected give her a call. overall, he is in great shape and handling the injury well. he was such a good boy at the vets too, made the vet think he was such a good boy lol I had actually brought gloves along because the bird bites HARD! and he didnt bite me once, instead he came out of the box, sat on my head, my finger, stood patently on the exam table... lol
