View Full Version : Samoyeds
A friend of mine has a pure breed Samoyed and of course it's a beautiful all white dog. But the paw pad areas are pinkish and also the "underarms" of his front paws. Does anyone know why this occurs? I think it's because of the sweating since the glands in a dog's paws but I can't explain the "underarms". Thanks. :) :)

Well the pads are most likely pinkish because of the color of the fur as well as where "underarms" dogs with light colored fur tend to have pink skin and light colored pads and nails, while dogs with dark colored fur have dark skin, pads and nails, and sometimes you luck out like I did with my border collie and get a dog that fits in to both cases. The pads being the color they are have nothing to do with the sweating, and truth be told it's actually easier to tell if something is bothering the dogs pads if they are pink because they would become a deeper pink or red.
