More random questions from me. :)

Nebo still has dewclaws. Is it an absolute necessity that he gets them removed? I've heard that they can get caught on things, etc. When are they normally removed?

He also has the hiccups ALL the time. Is this a puppy thing or is Nebo just weird?

Dewclaws are normally removed within three days of being born. This is done then because the nail is still very mushy and can just be plucked out like a wild hair. After about 5 days when they start getting harder it requires surgery. At this point if you have them removed you will have to have stitches and it is more involved. If you keep the nails trimmed back he should not have a problem with them.

Hiccups in puppies is very common. You may notice it more when he is just waking up from sleeping. Nothing to be alarmed about.

Rocky had the biggest old hicups when he was a puppy.
His hole body got involved.
We call it growing pains. :)

I have a wonderful remedy for hiccups. It works with humans as well as animals. Buy a small dropper (like one that is used to give medicine to babies). Fill the dropper with sugar water and give it to your pup. It works like a charm, and the dog does not seem to mind the taste. Not a whole lot of sugar, and in about
1-2 tbsp of water.

You do not absolutly have to get the dewclaws out, my pug, Otis still has his, he's 4 years old, and he hasn't got his caught on anything. I only have one problem. He pulled on out himself with his teeth. I don't know that much else.
