Smokey hope all goes well with your surgery today. I think this calls for a very special new toy, don't you? All fingers, tails and paws crossed for you today. Please, have your human let us know how you did.

Good luck to Smokey on his surgery!! Don't think I'm silly, but it makes me so proud that you're getting him neutered!! It's such a responsible, unselfish thing to do and it makes me feel great knowing that one more dog is in the good hands of a great owner....:D :D

Most of us are just recreational pet owners and I strongly believe in spay/neuter for family pets!!

Congrats! I have a feeling Smokey will be running and playing like nothing happened all weekend!!!

You are doing the right thing by neutering him.

Rocky wants to tell Smokey that he will not even notice
something is missing once he is all healed. :)

Make sure Smokey doesn't lick his stitches.

All of the furry gang is wishing Smokey a quick and
safe recovery.

Well, Smokey is home and very sleepy. Everything went fine, he has to get used to the collar, though. I can't believe he has to wear it for 10 days. It seems so cruel. But I don't want him to lick nuthin'. Pork Chop is sad that Smokey is sleeping and not playing.

I have the next 3 days off pretty much, so I can watch them those days but how am I supposed to make sure he doesn't roughhouse it up with P.C. when I'm gone? Guess it's back to the pre-housebroken days - coming home at lunch to let Smokey out of his crate to pee. Poor guy.

It's for the best in the long run, though.

Thanks for all the good wishes!

Oh yeah, he IS mad at me. This dog holds a grudge... he'll get over it though:D :p

I'm so sorry I didn't get to wish Smokey good luck on his SirJury!! Sorry Smokey!!:( But I'm so happy he's home and doing well!!:) Good Smokey Man! And I agree with Jennifer. You did such a good thing for Smokey. Before long he'll be healed and back to his old self! Give the brave boy a big hug from Sandra, Star and Cody!!

He will love you as good as he can. The health benefits are so great that I wish that everyone would fix their pets. It increases their life span and decreases their chances of cancer. He will always love you. I do not think that a dog can hate.

Hey, just seen this thread, so sorry:o
How's Smokey doing after his surgery? Great I hope! I know it's easier for the boys than the girls:rolleyes:

He's doing fine. I can't keep him from being crazy active! He'll be calm one minute and then he'll just tear into a frenzy and run up the stairs or something.
I know that's probably not the best for healing (stiches look fine, no oozy stuff or anything). Can I talk him for short walks to get some of this energy out? I'm sure I can... I was actually gonna start his [short] walks again tomorrow.

He has learned to be a pain in the butt with the E-Collar on now, too. Before he would stay away from everything but now he knows it bends! Great!

Anyway, yeah, he's doing fine - just wants to GO GO GO! but he can't yet... so... poor pup still.

TTFN!

Thanks for the update! I was just on my way to this thread to ask for one!!

Those e-collars are a pain! Duncan has never kept one on for more than 2 minutes!

I think short walks should be good for him, as long as his stitches look fine and he doesn't appear sore...

Smokey must be feeling a lot better!!! Good for him!! I think some mild exercise, controlled on a leash should be fine. But I'd make sure your vet is in agreement with that, of course!

Hugs to Smokey from us, please!

Logan, Honey, Lilly, and our friends, Splash and Murphy :)

Well, the E-Collar is no more. It's destroyed. He's OK with out one, though. He's not messing with his balls at all (blunt, I know, sorry).

But other than that, things are still fine, I can't keep his hyper butt down... THANK GOD THE STITCHES COME OUT IN JUST A FEW DAYS!
:)

i have to take Smokey in this week to have his sutures removed.
how do i know if they are healed? i think i did a bad job of keeping him inactive... nothing ever looked infected, it just looks like it has dried blood on the outside, still. but i called the vet and they said i shouldn't clean it or anything.
what happens if it didn't heal right?
i'm getting a bit nervous...
