My cat Alley had been vomiting for 4 days straight. I took her to the vet Thursday and the vet saw something suspicious on the x-rays, so they did exploratory surgery - it turned out negative. Now my 10-year old cat is no longer vomiting, but she is not eating at all. This is the 4th day after surgery. She was eating after I took her home, but yesterday she quit. I'm giving her pain meds but having difficulty getting them down her. Anyone have any advice? I'm going to try tuna next.

I'm sorry to hear this.:( You may need to start force feeding her with a syringe. You should probably get some Hills canned A/D food from your vet and then you dilute it with water and fill up a few large syringes. You should also cut off part of the tips so that more will come out. I hope that this will eventually stimulate her to start eating on her own. Good luck.

What pain meds are you giving her? Some meds have to be given with food and not on an empty stomach.

Try warming some canned food up so it's good and stinky, sometimes that helps stimulate an appetite.

If that doesn't work I would definately be giving the vet a call. When a cat doesn't eat that means something is wrong. It could be a complication from the surgery or maybe her meds aren't agreeing with her. I'd give them a call anyways and see if there is something else you can do for her or if they need to do a recheck on her.

Good luck.

If you haven't already, start force feeding her, and get her in to the vet.

Use canned foor, put a little on your finger and insist it goes IN the mouth. Then hold the head with nose to ceiling and gently stroke to get her to swallow.

At the vet, they will give her some subq fluids. If she is not eating, she will dehydrate. This will also help her get back into eating.

Let us know what is happening!
