I'll pull the bus around to the front and everyone pile in!

Got the Orc to load up some sandwiches and beer in the coolers!

Persimmons! Such fond memories of when I was a kid, we'd go up to my Aunt's farm in Shasta County to help her with the fall harvest on her farm and then we'd go to the persimmon farms. It was such fun. I remember one year we came home with so many, my mom spread them all out on the rumpus room (remember those?) floor to ripen and then we'd have persimmon bread, cookies, pies, bread pudding, and just plain eating them out of the skin that God gave them. Whenever I see persimmons in the store it brings back such wonderful memories of mom cooking up a storm and the wonderful smells coming out of the kitchen.
So, a cuppa hot cocoa with extra marshies and a slab of persimmon bread hot from the oven. Yumm! I'm in heaven! :D

Gosh we can open persimmon seeds and see what sort of winter we are going to have. That's what our weathermen use, I swear! (moff crosses fingers)
Let's see: a spoon shape means, snow, a knife shape means a cold winter, and a fork means a mild one. (I think) :D

Last time I was anywhere near a prickly pear I was picking spines out of my derriere. Please keep Mario away from them!
I'll take a LIIT, then another, then another, then another.......
My actual Thursday is going to be spent being nominated for a union office.
Now that I think about it, make that another, and another........

No, no salt on the corn when served!! They take a stick like you find on a candy apple and shove it into the cob......a napkin and you are set!
One MSC? DONE!
LH,

Don't you have to wait for the first frost to harvest persimmons? Well it's probably first frost somewhere, it's five o'clock somewhere and it's Thursdays so "bring er on" ;) Mayo on corn? That's rather like mayo on french fries - blech. Jeepers creepers... guess I'll try anything once *twice if I like it* :p

Corn with mayonnaise and parmesan? I'm not sure yet whether that sounds good or not. Just a little olive oil and black pepper on mine, please.
Can this be a bee-free apple picking expedition? I'm allergic to insect stings.
lbaker, I LOVE mayo on French fries! I worked with a nurse who grew up in Wyoming and she got me started on that. Also mayo with just a little catsup mixed in. I don't eat French fries too often anymore, with or without the mayo.

They have to be able to stay on it first. I can just see you starting that thing up and them hanging off the end for dear life.

C'sMom.. saw a lot of the mayo w/ fries in The Netherlands but never tried it myself. I'll stick to fries with vinager (boardwalk style). And don't worry about the bees - I always have my bee kit (deadly allergic myself). Besides, this is Thursdays and no bugs allowed ;) Well, Mario sometimes tries to bug people but that's just when he's feeling extra foolish.

I heard on the news that the Old Farmers' Almanac is saying that 2008 is going to be a warmer than average winter -- so I wonder what that translates to in persimmon seed-speak?

My actual Thursday is going to be spent being nominated for a union office.
Everyone! Join me in the chorus.... :D :D
Lyrics:
Look for the union label
when you are buying that coat, dress or blouse.Remember somewhere our union's sewing,
our wages going to feed the kids, and run the house. We work hard, but who's complaining?
Thanks to the I.L.G. we're paying our way!So always look for the union label,
it says we're able to make it in the U.S.A.!
substitute the union of your choice! :D :D

Too late to join the picking party? I hope not - I just got done working!
I'd like a prickly-pear, persimmon & pumpkin smoothie, please!
I don't know about persimmons, but the huskies' winter coats don't seem to be in any hurry to grow. Maybe it won't be too cold this year. I've noticed when they grow a dense coat, you better plan to throw extras logs on the fire!

Correction: Nominationi turned into election, as I am running unopposed.
My first official act? Putting a LARGE bottle of motrin into the desk in the union office.
Too bad I can't put some of Slick's Bailey's in the desk, too.

You need not worry anymore, the apples are picked - enough for everyone. I just made a huge apple crumble, so grab your plates! You have the choice of Creme Fraice on it or whipped cream. :D
In the meantime, I'll go and look up "persimmon" - have no idea what that is! :o
Edit* Well, I found them, but still not sure I ever tried them.
How about we make some plum snapps? That must be healthy! :D
Only another month, and the walnuts are ripe! :)
