So does that mean you're coming to the Hike Phred? Or were you simply being critical?
:p ;) :D

Simply being correct.

Ohhh right... right. Correct NOT critical! ;)

I don't know if there's an inside joke here or not -and I didn't see the original post- but the correct date is pretty important info. Mistakes/typos happen, I totally understand that. I guess what I'm really getting at is I sure hope Phred has thicker skin than I do as the critical comments would've really hurt my feelings.
If it's an inside joke (which it might be considering all the smilies), I'm sincerely sorry for butting in.

I'll think about it. How far away is it from me? I tried to look up directions but I'm not getting anywhere. Oh, Phred, help with directions please!!!!

How to Find the Husky Hike?
Here's a special MapQuest link the generates driving instructions to
the Hike from any location you type in as your Starting Location. >>>
MapQuest Directions To: Husky Hike @ Royalview Picnic Area (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?2a=Valley Pkwy and Royalview Ln&2c=Strongsville&2s=OH&2z=44316&2y=US&cid=lfddlink)
Click on the link then **WAIT** for the entire page to load;
Tab or mouse to the "STARTING Location" fields and type in your starting location. The "Destination" is already filled in for you. Hit "Get Directions".
You may be prompted to verify the Destination -
Click on "their" version, and "get directions".
The closest MapQuest can do is the Intersection of Valley Parkway and Royalview Lane ...
Where the picnic area driveway turns off into the woods.
Don't worry about the "locked gate" - it'll be open all day.
Turn (south) onto Royalview Lane and follow it to the end - a little over a mile -
and you wind up at the Royalview Picnic Area in the "Mill Stream Run Reservation"
of the Cleveland MetroParks System, in Strongsville, Ohio.
There should be a Husky or two or three runnin around.

How far away is it from me?
A MapQuest Route has been e-mailed to you, Robin.
How Far??
Chillicothe to Strongsville is 169 miles;
2 hours and 52 minutes drive time.

Interested? YES!!!
Doable? nope. :(
I was even thinking that maybe if Koli's not adopted by then that the other foster would be interested in taking her since he's farther south than i am... Then i looked it up on the map... I think that would still be too far of a drive for him.
I will pass on the link though.

I had the wrong date in the title when I first posted it then Phred let me know about it so I changed it. I'm quite certain Phred knows I wasn't being serious.

Angie or Phred, the first couple posts say this is a fund raiser -- could you post more about that? Do you need people to contribute per mile you hike, or how does it work? Could you take photos again this year? I think that would be a nice thing to contribute to in honor of Sherman and Bowser.
Thanks
Elyse

Elyse, As a walker, you collect money for the the rescue group Adopt a Husky. We don't collect donations per mile or anything like that just straight flat out donations.
It doesn't look like anyone from here will be joining me, but Sierra and I will still go in honnor of Sherman and Bowser and I'll take plenty of pictures.

Amy... Game time decision... LOL!! How funny!
I didn't pre-register last year, I just brought my donations and signed up when I got there. They would like people to pre register because they serve lunch and hand out good bags and stuff so I'm sure they just want to have an idea of how many people will be there.
Hope you and a few puppers can make it!

Wish I'd thought about it more before I left for FL.-- I guess we could have registered online, but didn't get it done. Just want you all to know we'll be with you "in spirit" at the hike! Maybe we'll post a few pictures of our "remote hike" here on this thread too, if you don't mind.

Hi All!
I'm home after spending the weekend with Anna and finally got my car unpacked and sitting down to relax a bit before I go to bed.
I had a great time at the Husky Hike! I absolutely loved it and was in complete awe of being around so many huskies. Like Angie said it sure was hot. I'm not one that likes hot days but I have to say that I didn't mind at all. Being around so many gorgeous dogs kind of takes your mind off of that.
Angie, it was great to see you and Sierra. Now you have to tell the story about Anna and the box of Tshirts...lol. Also, Anna and I had such a good time talking and laughing on the way home that we forgot that we were supposed to get off at any exits and just kept driving and driving...lol.
Roxey, Sierra and Tori were great husky hikers and good girls. I think they had a good time also.
Pat and Phred, we thought about you both and missed you.
I took plenty of pics and I'll try to go through them tomorrow and get them uploaded and posted. So be ready for lots of Husky pics!

Oh yes! We had a FABULOUS time Saturday:D
I'm always in awe of all the gorgeous dogs that are there (hukies and non-huskies alike!)
I haven't uploaded any of my pictures yet either (Robin and I were having too much fun...lol!) but soon...I promise!
Angie, it was really nice to see you and your pretty girl Sierra again too.
And yes...I just LOVE my box of shirts:D

Pat and Phred, we thought about you both and missed you.
THANKS!
We thought about all of you guys, too. :(
Wouldda been a lil *tuff* being there without my wanna-be Husky tagging along ~
but hopefully he was there trotting along with his Big Buddies on the Hike.
We all "did our thing" at the Fire Station on Saturday ...
County Health Dept decided we'd get the Fall Rabies Clinic
(we usually do it in the Spring.)
October 6th was the only day Doc Lisa (our "FREE" Vet) had an open Saturday.
OK - we'll be there. :(
Set-up at 10:30 - rolled the Fiur Trucks OUT and set up tables, chairs, and the pooper-skooper.
Between 11:00 and 1:00 PM the folks that don't read flyers well arrived;
we served Bisquits to keep the complaints down.
Doc pulled in about 1:15 PM or so - almost On-Time at 15 minutes late! :p
We had a LINE from 12:00 till 3:30!
Health Dept Girls fillin out the Forms and accepting the $2.00 payments;
I unwrapped the Jabbers and tightened the needle; Dog Warden's Secretary "Loaded" 'em,
and poor Doc Lisa stuck 160+ Critters in a little over 3 hours!
She did a lotta "Road Trips" - following an owner out to a car/truck in the parking lot
to take care of the "Anti-Social" creatures.
She came back in once <shakin> her head as she dumped 10 syringes into the sharps container -
"TEN of 'em - two cars worth - and NONE of 'em were very happy!"
Parting *Shots* ??
Yup, the Host Doggies both got their Boosters as the last two customers.
I think we'd have ALL rather been at the Husky Hike!
:D

Wonderful pictures everyone, we sure missed you guys! I notice that the ribbons on the medallions this year are rainbow - and sure seems like "Someone" arranged that in honor of our Sherman and Bowser going to the Rainbow Bridge - now how perfect is that? :D Just look at the light streaming down on the huskies in Angie's pic of the start of the hike- I bet they were right there with you!
Beautiful Bi-eyed white husky
edit: Actually... now that I look at the picture again, it looks like the pups eyes are both multi-colored! Wow! Angie, this coloring is called "parti eyed" Gorgeous dog!
And yes, Angie, I think Sherman must have been tagging along with his beloved Sierra. ;)
Our Husky Hike turned out a bit on the gray side - sorry the pictures look so dark- it was kind of foggy & overcast while we walked for over an hour...it got sunny once we headed home.
We started off at the beach:

Yes, finally I have my pictures uploaded and am able to share them!
Angie your pictures were great and yours were too Pat. I hope one day to meet Jack, he's gorgeous!
We really thought about Sherman & Bowser while we were on our walk Saturday and missed having everyone there, it just wasn't the same.
Like Angie said, it was so HOT! We had some tired dogs that's for sure (Roxey was REALLY tired :o )
If I didn't already have 3 dogs I would have taken that beautiful parti eyed girl home with me, she was a real lover and up for adoption.

I'm glad you could see the pictures and enjoyed them:)
Yep Pat, that's a 3 legger! You'd never know though!
It is surprising what pictures we get!
Yes, Huney stayed home. Someone had to keep Bon company, but I'm not sure just how much company she was. Mark said she cried around all day :( Poor girl.
And they all called Roxey grandma because she was absolutely wore out after the walk, but then again she's like that every year:p I think it was last year she laid down while we were waiting in the grub line...lol!
And I finally got a picture of my great auction buy  :D I really need to pay attention to what I'm bidding on!
Hey, at least the money went to a good cause!
Unfortunately most of the shirts are small and Mark can't wear them. If you know anyone who would like a small 28 weeks later or The Bourne Ultimatum shirt let me know...lol!

I was thrilled to see a couple of Akitas. The big guy did well with everyone. The little female didn't like other doggies to well. Hmmm, who does that sound like...lol. The female (Sugar) is a rescue that was chained all the time and her owner said that the other owners wanted her to be aggressive :(

This guys head was huge and he looked so big. I was surprised to hear that the two of them each weighed somewhere between 75-85 pounds. Katie weighs in at 91 pounds. I thought they both were pretty, but I have to say that I think my Katie Girl sure does beat them in the looks department..lol :p ;) :D

She was very people friendly and the muzzle didn't seem to bother her at all.

Better be careful little husky. Her daddy said she would still give it a try even with the muzzle on.

My girl was so tired from the hike that I was actually able to let loose of her leash and have her pose with Roxey. This is rare for Tori. Not the best pictures but I really like them.

You can't really tell by the pic but the second dog there is the three legged dog that Pat had noticed and he was a rescue and the honary dog that got to start off the hike.

Absolutely loved this big Malamute guy. He seemed so gentle, calm and laid back. I think Anna said he is there every year. Loved him and had to always take a peek at him.

And last but certainly not least our very own Miss Huney. I only got the one pic and I actually think Anna took it. Huney has a way of making herself invisible when the three bigger dogs are getting rowdy. Just look at her gorgeous coat!! So pretty.

Everyone's photos are great! I'm jealous, I wish I could have been there. I would have been in heaven with all of those beautiful huskies. :D Pat I loved the pics of Star and Jack's hike that day too. :) Actually I went on a hike that day as well, I'm sure I'll end up posting the pics eventually. I want that white husky with the cool eyes, somebody should go adopt him for me. :p Oh and you can send me Roxey and Tori while you're at it...I figure since I already have a husky of each color, as long as they are not all in the same room at the same time my parents will never notice. ;)

Amy, you might have to fight Anna for that white husky. She is Jennifer's latest foster and Anna has really taken a liking to her ;). I don't think Mark will have any part of it though...lol

Robin, what a great batch of pictures! Loved looking through the whole album. (and I agree about the akitas, your Katie is a gorgeous girl!)
I'm so glad you all went, seeing you & "our" PT pups together puts a big smile on my face! Jennifer's latest adoptee is such a doll!!!! But it looks like Jake may have staked a claim on her already, ladies. ;) Maybe Jennifer will have to add one more to her pack?

Glad you enjoyed our little hike, too. Made me feel a little bit connected, as I really wish we could have been there with you. We loved seeing all the huskies at the hikes we went to. You never know, maybe next year? I'd love for you all to meet Mr. Jack, I think you'd like him. He's a good boy.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your hike, Amy - you hike in such beautiful places. And of course, I love seeing pictures of Nebo & Keva - I have a whole folder of them in my "PT Dogs" folder on my computer!
P.S. If I had been there, I would have taken this little guy home with me!

Yep, there's your girl Anna. You better go get her. I have a feeling she won't be a foster for long. Hmmm, maybe I should make her my 3rd dog ;)
Pat, I knew you would like that little one. So freakin' cute and a lot like Sherman's coloring. Just adorable!
I kept wondering if you put all the blacks in one group and the reds in another if Anna and I would be able to spot our own huskies. I know we could if we were up close, but to just stand a bit outside of the circle and just look if we could point out which one was ours. There were just so many of them and some were so different and some looked so much alike. All were gorgeous! I have to say that this event really kicked in my love of huskies.
I'm at work looking at the pics again and I'm so sorry that they are so large. I didn't realize it on my computer. I'll have to make sure I make them smaller next time.
